Great space for the money

First off yes the gas is not great but it’s a big people hauler and most any vehicles that can carry 7-8 people don’t get great gas mileage but if you drive some what normal you will get what Kia says you should get or better so that’s good. Overall ride is very nice and comfortable especially with 4 adults and two kids in the car, the motor does not struggle at all and the transmission is much better then my mother in laws Chrysler Pacifica. We got the EX with the rear entertainment system and the kids love it and so do we, because now my wife and I can actually talk. Over the Sedona seems very well out together and solid, hopefully it will stay that way for years to come.

I never wanted to be a minivan mom, that being said life happend. Now I have 2 kids both under the age of 5 and an 80lbs dog and a husband with physical disabilities. Looking at our options it's was either a truck or van but having a significant other with very set requirements for a vehicle and a limited budget made our vehicle search tricky to say the least. Enter the Kia Sedona. We'd compared the Honda Odyssey and Chrysler Pacifica each had great room, decent gas mileage the only problem was to get everything we wanted put us at about 45k. We discovered the Sedona in Lowe's parking lot and looking at it neither of us were that off put buy it's looks (you know what I mean the typical minivan look). We researched it heavily and for us the only thing we didn't really like was it has a 6 speed vs an 8 speed transmission like its competition. That being said we've still been able to get 26 to 27mpg average per tank of gas. Going from a 2013 Chevy Cruze to the Sedona was amazing. I can't say enough good things about the extra amount of space for hauling around my tiny terrors. Like traditional vans the automatic sliding doors make it easy putting my 3 year old and 5 month old in and out of the vehicle. Also because of the height of the vehicle my 3 year old can easily cilmb in and out without assistance. The front seats are comfortable and supportive with the added bonus of being heated and cooled. My husband loves the cooled seat feature. The second row captains chairs are comfortable and supportive and just the right size for 2 full size car seats. The third row is spacious enough for adults if they were to be relegated back there. Usually we just leave our third row down for extra hauling capacity. For long trips the extra space is wonderful for our dog who is finally able to escape the torments of our 3 year old plus plenty of room for suitcases and coolers with room to spare. Another favorite feature is the built-in sunshades in all rear windows. Looking back I wish we'd considered/ made the move to the Kia Sedona sooner. UPDATE: Still Loving my Kia Sedona. We have had no mechanical or technical issues with our vehicle since purchase. We're still easily getting 26 - 27 mpg on average. Our van came in very handy for a sudden move to a new home. All in all still happy with our Sedona.

This is third Sedona we purchased brand new. First was new 2004 model, second was 2014 used and still have it Then 2018 SXL. 2004 model was most reliable vehicle I owned. Had it for over 300000 miles. 2014 I still have now has 140000 miles and drives like new. 2018 SXL is loaded and drives like Luxury Car. MPG is 2004 16mpg. Avg. to 20 mpg on long distance HWY. 2014 23mpg avg. And 27 mpg on long distance. 2018 is 23mpg and 32 mpg on long distance HWY trip. Beating EPAs 22mpg HWY by 10mpg.

MPG on the highway is way better than advertized

I get 30 MPG driving on flat Long Island highways when there is no traffic. 30 MPG in a large vehicle ! This was not an estimate either, it clearly said 30 mpg on the MPG gauge. Great MPG on the highway going 60 miles an hour. City and suburban driving the MPG #'s go way down . I drive on the South shore of Long Island where there's a light every 1/4-1/2 mile and stop signs every other block. I average about 15 mpg in stop and go traffic. Probably every large vehicle has the same drop off in MPG.I get the same MPG #'s in my fathers Kia minivan as well. I drove to upstate NY from Long Island this week and I was driving along averaging almost 31 mpg and the gas is 10 percent ethanol blend ! Crazy anybody would say this minivan has poor fuel economy. I was driving between 60 and 65 and most people were whizzing by me going 80 mph. Maybe their the ones always complaining about fuel economy.

So far the Sedona has been a wonderful purchase. When a vehicle meets or exceeds every imaginable expectation at a most competitive cost the customer is more than satisfied. The decision to purchase a new KIA was well informed. Every other minivan on the market was rented and driven to and from the same location with a round trip totaling over 1800 miles. The KIA Sedona outperformed them all throughout the entire trip in particular on inclines like the Grapevine on the I5.
