Kia is King!
This is my second Kia Sedona. The last one I had I put 48,000 (2002) and traded it on the 2003 model. No problems with the 2002 whatsoever. I have rented a 2003 Grand Caravan on a business trip. The Caravan was no comparison. The difference was a VW versus a Lincoln Towncar. Kia wins by a landslide! Go Kia!
My Sedona
I find my KIA a little heavy to drive and the turning radius too wide other than that I enjoy driving the vehicle, It's more than I expected, the Koreans did a good job. I'd buy another. It is not a Oddessy But it is about $14,000 cheaper. GREAT vehicle

Great Budget Van
If needing a new car with more room and are on tight budget this is the car for you. If rides and drives nice. For the money you can not beat it. Comfortable to drive and ride in. My child who just turned one hated riding in the car, since we have purchased the van he loves it and we have been to IN and back to MD.
Good quality for price
Kia has come a long way. We were very skeptical of buying a Kia, let alone a brand new model with no track record. By the features offered at the price, and the warranty provided convinced us to take the chance. It was definately worth it. We speak very high of Kia to all our friends, and I'm giving Kia very strong consideration for my next commuter car!
Best BANG for my BUCK!
My Kia TOP of the LINE still beat the price compare with other Mini-Van Basic Price and with the Excellent safty Record it was a EASY decision for my wife and me. Beside, for next 10 years/100,000 worry free miles would be fun!
Kia rules
Price and features is great not to mention the warranty. I had a 02 and traded for an 03 we liked it so much and Kia had great incentive to do so
Love my Sedona EX!
I've only had my 2003 Sedona EX for a week but so far I love it! (I traded in my '96 Windstar) We couldn't beat the price/options/warranty on the Kia. It rides and drives very smoothly. I didn't know how many new features they've come out with since a '96 that I'd been driving! I don't mind sharing, for those who are still comparison shopping, that our total price incl. tax/title/tags etc was $20,300. (incl. $3000 total rebates) I have a sunroof and ABS, but no leather. So far, the gas mileage has been fine for me (I live in a semi-rural area without heavy traffic)
Kia Sedona
I have had this van for over a year now and I love it.Only problem was a defective heater fan and it was replaced.Have had excellent service in NH. where I live.
Second time around
This is a long-term followup on our second Sedona. We rode the first for over 55000 miles until it was totaled in a freak accident at the dealership (broadsided by a runaway towtruck while in for an oil change). Our first sedona was bought right off the truck shortly after introduction, the second one sold in Tulsa. In it's 55000 mile life, had to replace the radio (failed within two weeks), fix the lumbar support switch (wires were a tad too short - did it myself) and that's it. Period. Had absolutely no hesitation in buying another one (dealer made us the offer we couldn't refuse). Have had NO warranty issues with this one either, now with about 33000 on the clock.
Great Van, Bad Dealer (Royal Kia Tucson)
My wife loves her van. This is a great vehicle for the price. My wife has recommended this van (with leather) to several friends, I just don't recommend Royal Kia in Tucson, AZ (unless you enjoy games and phone calls after purchase).
Sad times for KIA service
The KIA van runs great, however it has been in the shop for 2 months due to an airbag light that was on. The dash and components were completely disassembled and a new wiring harness was installed. I picked up the car and the problems was still not fixed; the technician didn't even bother to test drive the van. I was really disappointed at the poor quality of work from the service dept. at Folsom Lake Kia. Now the shift mechanism and the interior lights won't work correctly. Kia corporate has been monitoring our situation, these guys seem to care very much how I'm treated and have offered to help. I'll report back later when we find out how we will be compensated for our loss of use.
The Best Buy for a new Mini Van
Can't beat the options and value for the price. It doesnt have all the luxuries like auto sliding doors and an entertainment system. But, it won't cost you $35K either. The standard LX has everything you need and the EX looks good with the added 2 tone body style and mag. wheels.
One Awesome Minivan
This is a great minivan that has definately changed my mind about Kia. I look forward to owning my Sedona for a long long time.
Sedonna surpise
Very nice vehicle - drives solid - great pick up - Comfortable on long trips. So far it has been a pleasant surprise -
Go KIA!
I am so glad I did research before hand and bought the KIA. If I spent the same amount on a caravan, I never would have gotten all the features I wanted and needed. Best buy for my money and my budget.
Sedona EX Gas Monster
I love this van with the only problem being the horrible gas mileage.
good stuff
Kia dealers were great, no hassle, right to the point. Service is fast, and done properly. Treated the way most buyers dream of being treated after making such a major purchase.
Great van!
We have 4 kids (including a newborn in a carseat), 3 boys into soccer and we love this van. I agree, they could make the seats easier to remove/reinstall, and the exterior does dent easily. I have no problems with the AC being too noisy though. Only problem we had was the brakes went out when I was 7 months pregnant, but Kia sent roadside assistance and towed us, free-of-charge to the dealership, fixed it for free. It was a faulty chip in the ABS. Wish there was more headroom in the 3rd row. But overall, this has been a wonderful minivan for the cost. I could not justify blowing $35K+ on a higher- scale minivan. Great van for the price. We're going to trade up soon to the EX.
I will never buy another Kia!
I have 3 children and buying a minivan seemed like the right idea. If i had only known that buying a Kia would put me in debt i would have never ever done it! Everything on the car is pretty much plastic. I have broke several door handles that are far from cheep to replace. Everything in the van squeeks. I have had to replace the compressor and the shocks in the back that lift the back door! I have sank way too much money in this vehicle to enjoy it.
Others Don't Come Close...
I have 1,000 miles on this car and I love it. Other vans cannot compete with the features/value of the Sedona. Highly recommended.
LOVE my KIA Sedona!
We have had our new Sedona for almost 2 weeks now. Just took a trip to the beach and loved every minute of the drive! Highway mileage was decent, but have not had a chance to drive too much in the city to rate city mileage. Price was excellent compared to competitors. We paid so little for our Sedona that we were able to have a video entertainment system installed. This car has so many neat extra features that my Nissan minivan never had. I want to know why more people aren't driving these cars! They are great!
The Kia
Vehicle performs well. I have two concerns with it. There is a noise in the air conditioner compressor(replaced once and still has noise) and the brakes are rough when decending hills.
Worth Every Penny
We have had the Van for almost a year now and have yet to have a single problem. After almost 10k miles it still makes us smile. It has alot of power for a van and alot of exelent features. Maby we are lucky but on our trips and just around town we have had above average fuel consumption. Averaging around 24mpg on the highway and about 19pmg in the city. So I will not say fuel consumption is a problem for me. GET ONE!! Youll be glad you did!! Good job Kia, and since the Sorento has the same engine we may just buy one of them here soon.
Great minivan
Preforms well, has plenty of power from either a stop or when one might pass on two lane road. It fits our family well for all our needs and the family dog. The warrenty tells me that Kia is confident in their product
Best decision in a long time...
Extensively researched minis for a WHILE, and simply could not find a better value. Got an EX loaded to the gills with every option and paid less than a stripped Odyssey. With a much better warranty to boot. Build quality similar to my old Cherokee, which is saying something. Totally satisfied so far, but of course time will tell the rest.
Great Van
We have owned this car for almost two months and we love it.
2003 Sedona
5 months, and fewer than 5,000 miles. Absolutely no problems, and no complaints. Be advised, gas mileage on EPA sticker is not overstated: gear ratios selected to provide power are paid for in somewhat lower fuel economy. A very well designed and built vehicle.
Good Value
Have put 1,200 miles on it so far - No REAL PROBLEMS - door hinge bolt came loose on the drivers door - 14mm - 10 seconds to fix myself. We were going to buy an Odyssey - looked at these for fun - drove it home ! if you are considering the honda - you owe it to yourself to check these out.
Great Value but not completely satisfied
In first 6 months, had to have it in for repairs 3 separate times because the "engine" light kept coming on (apparently due to the oxygen sensors in the gas tank?). At 18 months, lost the ability to use reverse and had to have a completely new transmission put in and yet still having transmission problems now (VERY rough shifting). Everything so far has been covered by warranty.
The Best Van !!!!
I owned the car for about 6 months and i love it....smooth ride, reasonable price, best quality....i can not believe it was built by Kia.....anyway it is a very nice van...why pay more for honda or toyota.....
2003 KIA Sedona, Gotta Luv it!
Already have 3600 miles on it and it is great so far, if I were to say anything outside of great it would be ride over very bumby highways as it is a bit rough, not much more than the Caravan we tested though. Lots of power, trans shifts good so far, mileage is fair and better than stated, about 17 city and 22 to 24 highway, actaully got 27 the 1st trip but had heck of a tail wind across Ohio which is flat so that is NOT to be expected as norm. Radio is fair, better than most stock systems on standard option but not a Bose system either! Overall, so far so good, will report when we hit 12000 miles or a year.
Worth what I paid!
I had it just over a month with 1200 miles on it. Good van for the the price. 50% larger cargo space will really make the daily duty more functional as van. There is a background acceleration sound coming from AC pipe vibration every 3 to 5 minutes when cruising. Very annoying when driving. For such a heavy vechicle (over 4800 lb) KIA should use larger tires than 215/70R15. With full load there is only about 500 lb of safety margin. Sienna and Odyssey has over 1000 lb of margin. Only time will tell the car will worth the money for the next 5 years. I brought the van after I saw many good comment, hope everyone is right about this van.
best vehicle
just a great vehicle
Kick Ass Van!
I am still in awe of this van. I truly love every aspect of it. The stereo rocks, the ride is perfect and it looks great! With the price, quality and warrantee I don't see a reason to buy anything else.
Not worth the hassle
We were so excited about our Kia Sedona Ex until we've had several problems with it. The first week we had it, it had to be towed back to the dealership, for engine problems. Followed by brake repairs & now a new transmission with only 20,000 miles on it!!
I Dream of Kia...
I really enjoy my Kia Sedona, it's fun to drive and handles well. The fuel economy is fairly poor, however, the inexpensive price of the vehicle makes up for this fact.
MY NEW KIA
We bought our kia in march 2003 and found it to be a great investment. We do a lot of running around kids to various sporting events and driving others in our family to places they need to go. It has a great warranty that no one else can match . I would and have recommended kias to my friends and family.
My First Kia minivan
This minivan has all the things you'd want in a family vehicle. My Sedona EX came with leather, power seats, abs, am/fm cassette, cd 6 speaker stereo, plenty of cup holders and all for about 20 grand. The performance from the 3.5L V6 engine is excellent. You can feel the torque at low rpms move you along quickly, making it fun to drive. So far after 3000 miles my Sedona has had no problems whatsoever. I shoped around and for could not find anything close to it value wise. The great warranty of 10 year / 100,000 miles on drivetrain makes it a no brainer.
high mileage person
I travel over 7 months of a year. I previously owned a kia sophia but it was not big enough for the equipment I carry -printers computers etc. I then bought the Sedona. So far I like the ride, comfort and mileage. I am empressed with the Kia vehicles. I as I stated need reliable vehicle to travel for my job.
Best Van For The Money
It's everything the research says. It lacks a few of the gadgets that the more upmarket minivans have, but it has everything you truly need. The engine is remarkably smooth, the ride very good, the build quality much nicer than expected. And you simply cannot top the warranty! I don't know why anyone would buy anything else.
Never Again
Looks are deceiving. I thought I was purchasing a quality vehicle. What I got was a van-wanna-be. After only 5 months and 12,000 miles the front bumper paint was peeling in a number of places. Kia's response--everyday road debris caused it, so it's not covered under the warranty. I don't drive anywhere that a million other people drive, but because of "everyday road debris" it's not covered.I will mention that Ottawa Kia did re-paint the bumper at their expense which they did have to. And know I'm starting to have problems with the driver seat armrest not coming down! And gas mileage---IT STINKS! Highway driving gets me a whopping 16 MPG.
The BEST purchase EVER!
Just to sum this up in a nutshell, this was the BEST purchase we ever made! We researched every mini van on the market, and test drove several different makes. The KIA drove the best, and is so comfortable! The best part, the price, unbelievable. We couldn't be happier!
2003 Kia Sedona EX
The South Koreans have nearly hit a homerun with this one! Good build quality, fit-and-finish, looks, comfort, and rock solid value all make the Sedona minivan a good choice for today's families. There are just a couple of refinement issues, but they are negligible. The one thing that DOES suck, though, is the mileage. You're doing well if you get 22 mpg on the highway, cruising at a constant speed on flat land. Trouble is, we have LOTS of hills/valleys here in Cincinnati, so mileage here tends to be awful - normally around 15 mpg in the city. The 3.5-liter V6 has plenty of power to get us up those really steep hills, but it's a thirsty engine. Overall, I'm pretty happy with my van.
BOSE eat your heart out!
Only driven my new minivan a few weeks, but it handles much better than my Caravan ever did. All the features inside are easily accessible and the kids love the rear air features and the 12v plugs throughout the van that they can plug their games and stereos into. Was pleasantly surprised by the luxury car mats that came with it- even for both back seat areas, and the first aid kit was also a great find! It is a great van for the money and since I saved more than $8,000, I can use that money for a vacation!
Sedona
Very smooth riding van. You get tons of extras for a reasonable price. The gas milage could be a little better, but it's worth it. Great Van.
what I like about my van
We have an EX fully loaded. We use it for long distance travel only because we take a lot of trips that are over 500 miles or more. You said gas mil. is bad, but traveling on the highway at 65 to 75 mph, we get at least 25 mpg We never really use it for city driving. What made us choose this type of van was the seats were more comfortable than other vans we tried ( we have leather) and the road side assistance / 5 year-100000 mile warranty can't be beat. Besides I think it is a better looking minivan than Honda, Dodge or Ford. It does ride heavy, but it rides smooth and is a very quiet vehicle.
Our first new vehicle
So, far I really like my new 2003 Kia Sedona. The kids really like it and my husband only agreed on a mini/van is because it kinda looks sporty..with the sunroof and rear spoiler and the chrome door handles etc.. he said if it didnt' look sporty then he wasn't going for it..
No Complaints..
Have driven 520125 miles since May 03 , 11 round trips to Florida ,to help in laws clean up after hurricanes.Mileage 19.5 to 22.2 traveling 70 to80 MPH all day long ,hauled trailer back to Indiana in January loaded at 3000 pounds, mileage 17 to 18 in Fla,, when into cold weather in Indiana, at 5 above mileage down to 14 to 15 at 70 Mph all day long . Van is very dependable ,great at high speed when dodging truck tire treads on I 75 ,the handeling of this Sedona is EXCELLENT rides and drives so very smooth Great Machine .
SUPER PRICE
MY 2002 KIA SEDONA PLEASES ME NO END,AS I PLAN TO KEEP IT A LONG TIME THE DEPRECIATION IS OF NO VALUE. ITS WELL CONSTRUCTED AS PROVEN BY ITS WEIGHT 4709 LBS. IV'E HAD IT FOR A YEAR AND AM WELL PLEASED WITH ITS QUALITIES AND HAVE NO PROBLEMS WITH IT,BOTH THE DEALER AND MECHANICLY.IT HAS ALL THE OPTIONS OF THE OTHER VANS BUT IS THOUSANDS* CHEEPER.
WOW
Friend suggested looking at Kia's. The wife and I went out on a Saturday to test drive only. We were so impressed, we bought. It was my first time to buy a new vehicle. I am very skeptical and was totally against buying a "new" vehicle (to much to pay). But I could not believe the bang for the buck with the Sedona. I was impressed with the feel of the drive, very solid yet comfortable. Dealer said Kia is trying to get into the market. Well - I'm sold.
