Fan sounds like a jet engine

Be warned: this vehicle utilizes an HVAC system to provide airflow (heat/AC) to all three rows of passengers. If you turn on the air flow in the back two rows it sounds like a jet engine in the front. Unbelievably poor design. Most vehicles have the 2nd and 3rd row blower in the back of the vehicle. We’ve had 3 row vehicles for the last 10 years and this is by far the biggest design flaw for air flow in a vehicle I have ever seen. It also has a very difficult time switching between zones and makes loud revving sounds as it transitions between feet, body and defrost. I had the maintenance dept look at it because I thought there was something wrong with it and they told me this is how it’s designed and how they all sound. I would never have purchased this vehicle if I had known that before hand, and unfortunately I didn’t think to test the airflow in the back when we test drove it. This is a deal breaker for me, I never would have purchased this vehicle if I had known it up front.

Stay far, far away from this Jeep!

After growing out of our 2015 Grand Cherokee Overland, we started the search for a 3 row vehicle. Landed on the 2021 L Overland with Pro Tech Group and Luxury Group because it seemingly offered best in class off road capability alongside all the great tech features. Well, this thing has been nothing but trouble since it rolled off the lot. First trip back to the dealer occurred at 200 miles after the AEB warning failed to clear. They said the sensor was "loose." Next trip back to the dealer came shortly thereafter because the cabin was filling with the smell of burning oil. Came back a few days later with the head gasket replaced! After 2,000 miles, here's the list of issues: 1. Constant system crashes - extremely loud sound plays for 5 seconds, screens go black. Every function on main nav screen stops for a few minutes while it reboots. This happens during driving and is distracting and dangerous. 2. CarPlay fails to connect 50 percent of the time - both wirelessly and hard wired. I have never experienced an issue like this in any other vehicle. It should be plug and play. 3. 50 percent of the time the steering wheel buttons do not change audio tracks when the audio input is set to CarPlay 4. Auto-dimming side view mirrors stop working, turning on and off button doesn't fix the issue. Only a power cycle of the vehicle does 5. Constant warning that the "night vision is unavailable - Sensor blocked" - occurs in all conditions, nearly every time driving the vehicle at night. Annoying chime sounds every time the warning trips. 6. Power seat memory fails to save/adjust the lumbar support and side bolsters. Need to be manually reset every time the driver profile is switched. 7. Vehicle literally shut itself off while backing into the garage, nothing was in the path 8. Vehicle slammed on brakes on highway when there was nothing in front of it, if there was someone following closely, they would have rear ended us. 9. Navigation system fails to connect to our wi-fi network, access point is 10 feet from the vehicle in our garage 10. Navigation map fails to show up on driver display with error "map still loading" 11. Heads up display fails to update the street address, stops showing turn by turn directions at times until car is power cycled - probably tied to the map loading issue 12. Passenger side seat massage function turns off after 5-15 minutes of use, over and over and over 13. When using Waze as navigation, the music only plays from the right side of the car 14. Warnings about the SOS call system not working show up often 15. XM signal gets lost randomly on the highway. Won't come back until power cycled. Additionally: Switching user profiles takes 1+ minutes and not all the settings are saved. The adaptive suspension is lacking. The ride on our 2015 with air suspension is softer. It does handle well for a vehicle of this size, though. There are no user adjustable settings for suspension damping... in a 65k car. The McIntosh audio system is a joke. The bass needs to be turned down to the lowest setting to be tolerable. The B&O that Audi uses is lightyears better. The "self driving assist" feature is a joke. You better pay attention all the time or it will throw you into a guard rail. It's _nowhere_ near what Tesla offers. The average highway MPG for us has been 17 (with the 6 cyl) You can't turn off the annoying rear seat reminder chime. You can't turn off the chimes that warn you if your seatbelt is unbuckled when you still have the car running. It beeps 3 times if you leave the car with the keys in your pocket... and the list goes on. It's the most obnoxious car I've ever encountered. Seems like the lawyers won out on all these warnings because I have scoured the Internet to find a way to disable them and turned up empty. Oh, and the HVAC fans are so insanely loud, even in the lowest setting, you'd think someone is playing a joke on you. Is there anything we do like? Well, the LCD rear view mirror is great. The interior camera system is fun. The seats are very comfortable. The air suspension right height adjustments happen much faster than the older generation. The heads up display is very nice, when it works. The ambient lighting is nice. The LED headlights/Fog lights are excellent. The night vision is a cool concept, but it doesn't work 90% of the time. The 0-35 acceleration is very good. And I think it's a fairly attractive Jeep. Overall: Luxury car, this is not. Ours is probably the worst case scenario for issues, and I think all the technology in the Pro Tech + Lux group is half baked - at best. Stay far, far away from this thing until they can work through these quality control / tech issues.

Buyer beware

Bought this Jeep in September, and a few weeks into it, the driver's seat lumbar and cushion extension started creaking like a 20 year old car. Auto folding mirrors will unfold when ignition turned on, like they should, but will only fold back when door locked. Not a big deal. I was going to take it in to have them look at it. Until last week. My wife got into the car and it wouldn't start. Then the digital dash lit up like a Christmas tree, with all sorts of warnings, the interior lights started flashing, uconnect screen froze. Then the car died. I tried Assist button but nothing. Somebody else in a review said uconnect doesn't exist yet for this Jeep. I hope that's not true. That was a deal breaker when I bought the car! Called Jeep break down and they sent a guy with jump leads. A guy in a car with jump leads, not a tow truck. He was nice, and eventually he got it going. It didn't want to kick over at first. He said this wasn't a battery issue and it was the electrics and to get it to a dealer. Two days later, I took it in. The service advisor said this is the second one they've had in. This is my local dealer, not where I bought the car. Turns out, it was the sales manager form the dealership where I bought the car who had taken in his Jeep for the exact same reason as me. I wasn't offered a loaner car so we rented one for a few days. When the rental manager asked what brought us in today, I explained. He said they had two of the new Jeeps and both of them broke down with around a hundred miles on them. He thought the renters were doing something wrong. He realized that it wasn't them after I explained what had happened to mine. This seems to be a major problem with the electrics in the new car, that Jeep knows about. They're keeping quiet about it, and fixing it when people bring the car in with faults instead of recalling them. The quality is very poor on this vehicle. We sold our 2017 Pacifica that felt like it was built like a tank. This car doesn't. But that's not the problem. The car breaking down is. I had it for 10 weeks with 556 miles on the clock before it died. I did a search online and found that older Grand Cherokee's sometimes had creaking seats with the lumbar support loose in them. This car is awful. I agree with another reviewer - Jeep rushed this car out. And people who bought them are the Guinea Pigs. When I first drove another model, it was waiting for a software update because the screen was in French! I deeply regret buying this car, but as soon as I get it back, I'm going to hit the assist button, and there better be somebody there waiting to talk to me! ** UPDATE ** The assist button did work. I also forgot to mention before - when the tailgate is coming down, it will give out a few beeps to warn you. One day I was taking bags out of the trunk and the tailgate came down with no beeps and hit me on the head! And it didn't feel like it was going to stop! I pushed up against it with my arm and then it went up. But we had a horrific incident with the car. Driving along at 30 mph, it was a short, quiet road that led to a main road, when all of a sudden there was a horrendous Bang! The car stopped dead, like we had hit a brick wall. I thought the transmission had exploded. Then I thought we'd maybe been rear-ended. Neither. The automatic emergency braking system kicked in despite there being no car, pedestrians or cyclists in front. Nothing near us at all. Neither was anything blown across out path (as the service advisor said might have happened. It wasn't windy that day!) We were badly shaken. I hate to think what would have happened if we'd been doing 65 mph on the highway at the time. Took it into the dealer. The third time in 12 weeks. Of course they said, we couldn't replicate it, there are no service bulletins and no codes coming up. Their answer? Switch off the emergency auto braking! Why have such a feature if you have to drive with it switched off? Ludicrous. This car slammed the brakes on for no reason. This car could have gotten us killed. It's in our driveway now, and my wife never wants to drive it again. Time to contact a lemon lawyer.

I ordered a Jeep Grand Cherokee L Overland model and waited three months to get it. Since getting it in August, I have had problems with this vehicle not starting on 5 different occasions. It has been in the shop for weeks at a time and they havent been able to resolve this issue. Im getting the run- around from Jeep corporate. It would be a wonderful vehicle if it werent for the fact that it wont start! So beyond disappointed. Update This vehicle is being sold back to the manufacturer under the lemon law

95% great vehicle

95% satisfied with my Cherokee L Summit, but a little worried about long term quality. Pros: Comfort, looks, silky smooth drive with air suspension (test drive in lower trims suffered far more body roll). This big vehicle drives smoother than any car I've owned. Power is plentiful with the V6, despite what some other reviews say, when I press the pedal at any speed it really goes and highway passing will not be a problem; Very spacious interior. Kids really love the tech features, especially the LED lighting. Cons: MPG has not been close to advertised, at an absolute best with max effort toward efficiency I could see it getting 23 mpg, but my total average after 1k miles is just 19mpg, a far cry from advertised. I'm concerned about long term quality as it already has a rough idle to it on start up that I've not felt on any other vehicle I've owned, which is multiple. I've had one plastic cover come off the driver seat where the seat extends and couldn't get it back on, but it's not noticeable really. In further regards to the extending seat, it really doesn't extend far enough or at a correct angle to get full beneficial knee support from it as the feature intends....but it does okay. Unable to get Android auto to work so far, I've done all phone updates as instructed but no success. Despite my long cons list, I'm really just nitpicking/giving feedback for Jeep improvements. I'm still loving the vehicle. As long it holds up well then I will have no regrets, despite the hefty price tag on Summit trim.
