2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe Consumer Reviews

You gain nothing by having EV instead of ICE
TLDR: Whoever designed this, did not test drive it. The car may look good on paper, but not in real life. It's still a gas guzzler, except it's slower than the older (V6) version. I just drove this car for over 1k in 4 days (rental) . First the car was appealing, I like how the interior looks and Chrysler nailed the exterior too. I'm not an SUV guy but I would say it looks good. Things also feel solid - although there are some cheap plastics around, but not ugly enough to grab your attention. The car feels roomy and I found the chair comfortable enough to drive 5-6hrs without stopping. My daughter in the back was also not not complaining, although she is thin and she could actually pull up her legs front of her and still be comfortable. Here comes the ugly part. I drive a Mazda, Honda and Hyundai and for their each of their own, they all have their quirkiness, but what Chrysler did here with the dash and infotainment is a crime! I'm a tech guy, but I had a hard time finding myself among the options and tabs and lists. Connecting the Carplay finally simplified the controls, while on the 4th day of driving it, I finally found the up/down volume buttons and the forward reverse buttons for the radio, under the steering wheel! Before that I was messing with the top buttons which are to customize the dashboard LCD screen- completely unnecessary to have dedicated buttons on the top of the steering wheel robbing the space away, while the volume and track up/down is hidden under the steering wheel and I have to feel it out with my ring finger. Next, the brakes. I know it has regenerative brake system, but it feels inconsistent and sometimes the car either dives nose down while breaking with the slightest touch or it's not breaking enough and I'm about to roll through a traffic light! I don't understand, don't ask me, but all I can say is I don't like it. Next, the performance. While it does feel quick if the battery is charged, your average lifetime of a fully charged battery (3hrs charging time to full, from 0%) is about 30 miles or less, so I found charging it a waste of time. Once the battery is empty, you gonna be driving around with the battery sign showing >1%, which means the battery is charged less than 1%, because the car will be charging it and using it up a the same time while not really having any real benefits other than not being a V6 or V8 and the puny 4 cylinder is totally underpowered by itself. You gonna know that too, because once you are out of battery power, the car will feel and sound like a gas powered leaf blower! In overall, we didn't have any problems while having the car, but I learned enough about it in 4 days that there is no way in hell I would purchase this vehicle. I think the engine is a serious misstep and they should either just drop this idea or figure out a better way to make the car more efficient and more powerful, because this just ain't it.
