Gas guzzler
I have always driven Expeditions so I was a bit leary about buying this Commander. At first I enjoyed it, just because it was shiney and had the new car smell (you know the puppy smell syndrome) but then I began to realize just how much of a gas guzzler it was and how little power it had. I quickly became very nostalgic for the great 'get up and go' my Expeditions had. I would only recommend this car as a weekend 'run a round' vehicle, not a vehicle for everyday use-unless your last name is Halliburton.
I like it - don't love it
Overall am pleased and have had no issues other than fuel economy. This week I resigned myself to drive speed limits to see what I can get MPG and actually saw 20.6 mpg.

Do Not Buy The Jeep Commander
The vehicle with less than 500 mile had the command module fail 2 weeks to repair. With less than 20k mile front subframe failed. 2 weeks to repair. less than 30k miles all the brake rotors warped Jeep will not repair under warranty. Chrysler will only say not covered under warranty. Failure not do to wear.
2006 Commander Limited Hemi
Let me cut to the chase. This is the second Jeep vehicle I have owned in 35 years of driving. Since 1989, all my second vehicles have been 4x4's. By far this is the best vehicle ever. I had ordered it with every conceivable option available. Nothing left to the imagination. After owning it for 6 months, I still haven't got tired of driving it. One really, really bad feature of the "mark", is its fuel economy. Don't believe what the specs say. If you get 12MPH for city driving consider yourself lucky. I tried every which way to drive this Jeep, for the best economy. Nothing helps! Maybe it's because I have the 5.7 Hemi? But, forget if you think you will break the 15MPG for city driving.
I Love My Commander
I love almost everything about my car. I'm not much of a Jeep person, but this car is what I've been looking for. I love the box shape. I love the navigation system. The speakers are great. I have the 4.7 liter V8, and that gives me enough power. This car has horrible fuel economy, but I dont mind because it's worth the extra money. I feel safe in my Commander, and I would recommend it to anyone. This car is a true commander of the road.
