Very limited room when you have car seats in back. No leg room for front seat.

Disappointed

Very poor gas mileage in town, only about 13, freeway about 19. Very comfortable and powerful with V-8. It is too big. We traded in a 03 Cherokee and would much rather have the Cherokee.

You get what you pay for

I was looking for an inexpensive truck to fit my family of 6. I found it in the Jeep Commander. However after having it for 3 months I realized I am spending a fortune in gas. My father's 1974 Cadillac got the same 12 miles per gallon as my 2006 Commander. It's hard to believe that in this day and age Jeep can't produce a 6 cylinder engine that gets better than 12 miles per gallon. In addition, after the whole family gets in it becomes very tight fitting. No more room for any extras. Oh, and if you are going to buy the Commander make sure you have really skinny arms or you won't be able to reach down between the driver seat and the door to adjust your seating. You get what you pay for.

Affordable Ride!

What a wonderful alternative to huge SUVs and minivans. This great vehicle is comfy, fun to drive, and caries lots of kids and family. It is great to own a small SUV that is so versatile. The Commander handles well, rides smooth, and looks great!

Nothing but problems

Problems began when we drove the car off the lot. Knocking noise from the suspension. It has been back to the dealer 4 times in 9 months. Reoccuring problems with the passenger window not closing, sunroof not closing, front and rear windshield washers not working and also a transmission leak. Today I noticed a whistling noise from what I think is the windshield. My major concern is a hesitation on acceleration. The engine cuts out when pulling out. This is very intermittent and the dealer and the Jeep rep are saying they can't find anything wrong with it. They also said that the 3.7 L engine is too small for the vehicle and this is probably what my problem is. Really hate it.
