Jeep Commander

I purchased this model to replace a Liberty that I rolled with no injuries. I bought the 4x4 sport V-6 and as for the performance it is lacking in the take off power however the weight difference over the V-8's is very benificial for off roading. The V-6 has plenty of power (with a few modifications less than $500, made my own cold air intake; gutted the exhaust system and a Jet II performance module) I have had this Jeep in some very precarious positions and I never had an ounce of trouble getting through the mud, rocks, or anything else that was in my way. As for gas mileage it stinks but you can't ask for good gas mileage on a full time 4x4 .17 is best on highway and 13 in the city.

The vehicle with less than 500 mile had the command module fail 2 weeks to repair. With less than 20k mile front subframe failed. 2 weeks to repair. less than 30k miles all the brake rotors warped Jeep will not repair under warranty. Chrysler will only say not covered under warranty. Failure not do to wear.

2006 Commander is a dangerous vehicle

While I love the looks of this SUV, it is an unreliable and dangerous vehicle. We have had an excessive number of transmission issues, and 4wd issues which have been very inconvenient. Last Sat. though, while on the freeway going 75, our Commander downshifted and went into 4wd low, redlined the motor, and scrubbed off about 40 MPH. I was lucky that we were not hit by cars behind us. I am looking for any other experiences like this. I will never put my family back into this coffin on wheels! Protect your family. If you are having any issues with the drivetrain, it will most likely lead to this type of situation. This is just one of the many problems we have had with this hunk on tin. It's junk

First Jeep and Love It

Bought used, fully loaded Limited with 4.7 L V8. Rides like a four door sedan unlike my old Explorer or Durango. Very quiet on the highway too. Smaller V8 provides plenty of performance. So far I have found no problems with it. Third seat is split with straps on the back to pull up and fold flat. Daughter loves to sit in the third row. Nav system is a must although touch screen would be even better.

Commander Limited Hemi

Jeep Commander Limited is one of the best SUV's I've ever owned. Plenty of room and plenty of power make this vehicle a joy both on and off the road. I don't have anything significant to complain about at this point and the dealership has been very helpful and responsive to my concerns.
