There is absolutely NOTHING in the world like driving a Jag

I bought this car used 6 months ago and I still hate the fact that pulling in my driveway means that my drive has ended! I look forward to getting into the car every morning and looking down the amazing curves of the hood to follow my chrome cat to work. The car handles like a sports car. You can do the sharpest turns and curves at the highest speeds and the car doesn't flinch. It is small but comfortably room in the front - I can't say as much for the back - it's kind of cramped...but I will only ever be sitting behind the wheel of this car! You are surrounded by wood, leather, and an amazing Alpine sound system...who could ask for more!

Love the car, I researched the car before purchase, saw that 2001-03 had some problems, Jaguars Quality Initiative 04 put over 1000 new components in this car. My 2005 is awesome. Great driving experience, curves and hills are my favorite, AWD will be a blessing this winter. Luxury interior leaves you feeling like and people thinking that you paid a fortune for this car.

Every popular magazine and website dissed the Jag wagon when it came out. Boy, were they wrong. I bought mine used, have owned it for eight years, and NEVER had a major maintenance issue with it. Performance is tops, just like the day I got it, and it now has 130k miles. Small and nimble, but with the extra room of a wagon and every extra you can imagine. Sweet ride. Car & Driver called it an "exotic" since less than about 1500 were made between 2004 and 2008. They were right about one thing: it's a head-turner and a conversation starter with knowledgeable Jag owners. If Jag still made these, it would be my next car.

Bought this car as it had excellent value for resale and was AWD - others tested were the Audi A4 & Volvo S60 - the Jag just seemed like a better value for $$$ - the 3L V6 engine delivers smooth cruising power but has enough pickup punch to pass slower trucks/traffic on the highway. The AWD is great in poor weather and snow (make sure you check to see if its equipped with Traction control - mine was not and feels somewhat like a RWD car in heavy snow - light tail end). Also the name brand: Jaguar - it has a lengthy pedigree and the car is not very common on the road - unlike other executive BMW's & Audi's - which seem to be everywhere.

I have driven mostly BMW's for the past 20 years. I purchased this 05 Jaguar Sportwagon in July 07 and I am delighted with the design, build quality, aesthetics, and driving dynamics. It can not be compared to BMW, MB, Audi, etc., as it is British, not German. The wagon is elegant inside and out, it is comfortable for a guy with back problems. I have only seen one other Jag Wagon in the state of Maine---I do not see myself coming and going.

The Jaguar x-type vdp edition is my 3rd vehicle that I've owned and by far the most fun and luxurious vehicle. I get so many compliments on it, and people think that I've paid a fortune. Luckily, I got a great deal for an awesome product. I've heard some negative things about Jaguar and so far I have not experienced any of them and I've had the car for almost 6 months. I don't know how anyone can see this car doesn't compare to the BMW 3 series or Mercedes C Class. This car definitely has a lot going for it plus more. I don't regret this purchase at all.

I'm 65. This is my 17th car and the first that's more than basic transportation. I have the basic X- type with no options: manual transmission and the small engine. To me, given a same-price choice between the X-type and a mid-level Accord or Camry is a no-brainer. The Accord and Camry are larger, but the X-type just lovely. It's beautifully equipped and a pleasure to drive. It seems powerful and sporty. Gas mileage, 19/28, is good for an all wheel drive car with 192 HP, and the shifter is the smoothest I've ever worked. I'd buy another.

I have been very pleased with the Jaguar X type. The ride, handling, and power are excellent. I like the styling - Interior and exterior. I love the wood. Friends that have the entry level German rivals (MB, BMW, Audi) have been impressed when riding in the car. I would not trade it for a comparably priced German rival. Just riding in it has converted a few friends. During the winter - I couldn't "make it" slide in the snow - Great road manners. I have had ZERO reliability problems.

This is the Wife's "Dog and plant hauler" It is just a bit past 77k mi. and still works fine., in fact on the highway, the fuel economy is an amazing 27-28 mpg! The ride has deteriorated" in part to recent tire purchase ( TOO high performance) In the 9 years we have owned= only 4 problems.. #1.a brake boost seal (replaced under warranty.) #2. expensive performance components like the Special F Brake discs. #3 Passenger seat-seat belt buckle malfunction..= new and VERY expensive female seat belt clasp #4 the led light that allows view of temperature numbers is out and cannot be repaired easily I see many of these vehicles still on the road here in Coastal Southern California I know that this car is fast "like a Jaguar".....it is fun to drive "like a Jaguar" it has unique style and grace,"like a Jaguar We are glad that Jaguar has re-introduced the SportBrake " (as they call it in England) We wanted to order a new Sportbrake, however,we are looking at the F-pace because this Sportbrake-Wagon rides low to the ground and a few inches of taller ride would help us navigate the gauntlet of distracted drivers in Coastal Socal We might be selling soon

Handles nearly as well as the Infinity G35, but better looking and a more luxury looking interior. Not as many luxury and comfort features as the Acura TL but much, much more fun to drive. Better handling and better all around than the new Maxima. A very good sports sedan for the money.

What a great car! I just finished driving the X type from Kansas City to L.A. I ventured off the interstate often and hit some great winding mountain road (pine to palms hwy) and even went off road into (yes, into!) the grand canyon on a gravel road/creek bed! Went from rain and snow (in Flagstaff) to desert heat. The car was loaded down to the hilt, driven hard, thrown into corners, cruised at high speed, and every component performed perfectly! (except the rearview mirror vibrated out of position on the rough gravel road leading into the grand canyon) I never had a more fun drive! BMW should be worried!

This was my first Jaguar and I was thrilled to own it. It is an amazingly beautiful car. I still can't stop looking at it. The interior is very pleasing and comfortable. However, my car visits the shop on average once a month for stupid things like locking making noises, trunk leaks, gas door won't open, oh and 2 transmissions later.

Have the car just over a year. The sales experience was great but the servicing of the car is a problem. Every 5000 miles it goes in for oil change and a a list of interior problems that take 2 days to fix. The defroster vents, J gate shifter, seat belt height adjuster, floor mats, outside temp guage and bulbs burning out all are problem areas. Good thing the car is a great driver, has stunning looks and has a long warantee. Fuel mileage is 22.2 MPG over 16000 miles, about right for AWD and high compression, high horse engine.

I have had 2 X Types. My first one was an actual lemon, and Jag gave me a new one. This one also drops gears at 35- 40mph and has a heavy steering wheel shimmy, as the "Lemon" did. It is performing about 50% better. Jag has been good about fixing things thus far, let's see how fast I sell it once it hits its 30K mark. Do I like Jags, yes.. mostly a smooth ride, and I like the look. Could it perform better and get better mileage, you bet.

I am enjoying my new jaguar - I am very happy they decided to build a wagon. It is fun to drive and there is a generous cargo area in the back for anything from groceries to small furniture finds. My son thinks a Jaguar should only be a luxury sports car but what could be wrong with a sporty wagon that is pretty to look at?

I had been leasing a 2002 X Type. I find the 2005 a much improved car. The transmission is more responsive. The car handles better, has memory seats and mirrors. A great sound system is even better. Before leasing this car I test drove an Acura RL and a BMW 330i. I found the ride and performance of the Jag to be more satisfying In 2 months of driving there have been no defects.

It doesn't get better for the price. It is true that it is heavy and does not corner as well as a BMW or other sport car- but its not meant to. This car is for a comfortable ride, a luxurious ride, and it is the perfect size, has the perfect interior and is truly a headturner on the streets..plus...you don't see many on the road..always a plus- its not your regular civic or camry.

Excellent service from salesman. However, recieved car with 50lbs pressure in each tire (did not discover until after 3 weeks).Should be 32lbs in each tire. Gas Mileage is rated 22/28. However, have not yet done better than 22 miles/gallon (car has 5-speed stick). Vehicle handles very well; is fun to drive, especially on highway with curves. Holds road extremely well. Manual suggests oil change every 10000 miles but was advised to do so at5000 (at my expense).

Nice comfortable ride. Love the interior leather and the exterior styling on my VDP edition. Decent acceleration but not mind blowing off the line. I expect the manual would be a bit more fun. Roomy in the front and the back seat is par for the course. Nice build quality and has a large trunk. Alpine stereo is ok but the bass needs a little more depth at least for my ears. Seem to be getting 20.9 mpg but I have a heavy foot. AWD is nice -corners ok but does feel a little loose at higher speeds but hey this isn't a sports car. The local Jag service department seems very helpful. I am really enjoying this car and getting a lot of compliments on the interior and exterior styling!

I had never considered buying a Jag until I happened to test drive one while my wife was looking for a new car. It took me by surprise how much fun I had driving the 2.5 5 speed manual. Yes the car is not perfect but I think it holds its own against the BMW 3 and Merz C. I haven't had this much fun driving a car since I was a 16 year old with a Camaro. New X-types are a little pricey but a good value can be found with a Certified Pre-owned Jaguar. I ended up buying a 3.0 auto with the sport package. I miss shifting gears but still have more fun than I thought was possible driving a sedan. After 3 months I'm still happy I bought the car

Vehicle was delivered with grossly over-inflated tires (50lbs) ... should be approx 30lbs. Have a standard transmission; am a conservative driver; have yet to get over 22 mpg combined city/highway driving. Car handles great; takes turns smoothly and requires minimur of braking on sharp turns. Excellent on snow and rain. Developed a high-pitched sound; failed to repair correctly on first try; tape recorded sound and the Dealer replaced the DRIVETRAIN... have not heard sound in approx one month since this repair.

My 2004 X TYPE driven only 3400 miles since new has a little noise or click when it engages the AWD and the transmission at speeds lower than 30 MPH, It is similar to the noises in the old cardan shafts system and crosses attaching the transmission and the differential of american cars. The dealer revised the noise and the AWD system but found "nothing wrong". It is very difficult to read the trip computer window due to daylight glare. No problem during night time.

The only thing that I don't like is that the rear seating leg area is too short. Overall the car is as sweet as they get.

Got the car at the end of the year. Saved the first year's depreciation. It is more agile than the 99 bmw 528 I had. Gas mileage is not quite as good so far, about 23mpg. Interior is exceptionally nice. Exterior is also exceptional. Engine could use another 15-20 hp but not bad. No issues so far. Handling is not quite as good as a bmw 325, but for every day use it works great.

I love my new X-Type. The car is absolutely beautiful to look at inside and out and a joy to drive. The build quality is excellent. Jaguar doesn't make extensive changes to their vehicles from year to year but simply improves the model, learning from the past. It's AWD system results in a vehicle that exhibites excellent handling on any road condition. The engine is deceptively powerfull. It is not the quickest from a dead stop (drag racing!), but has excellent pull from 30-100 mph, which is where most of my driving occurs. But if you want of pocket rocket you shouldn't be looking at a Jaguar and should consider a Dodge SRT-4 or maybe a BMW 330.

I purchased a 2004 leftover for $22.8k. It was a base car w/ a five speed manual. A lot of bang for the buck. It would be hard to find something in the same price range w/ all wheel dive, V6, leather and full power even if it wasn't a Jaguar. Power is okay, especially for a small displacement V6. Mated w/the five speed it's more than adequate. Overall I think it's a well thought out car w/a lot of nice touches (adjustable armrest, rear fog lights. etc.). I would strongly recommend the car.

I can also fit three sets of golf clubs inside walking bags in the trunk.

Traded 2000 S-Type, hated to let it go, perfect for 130000 miles+. But needed wagon type AWD vehicle, not SUV. Still get admiring glances, although not as many as we did with S- Type. Comfortible, beautiful, classy, great in snow. Plenty of power, and most luxury features found in higher priced cars. Carpeting and sunvisors are cheap jack, but overall cars lives up to its image. Wife loves to drive it, and feels very secure doing so in adverse weather.

The only reason I did not give the interior design a 10 rating is because, at 6'1", I have tended toward larger cars. That said, a recent 1200 mile journey to Death Valley & return was our maiden trip to put the "darling little car" (my wife's description) through a gentle test run. We tent-camped in Furnace Creek, hauling all we needed in the cargo area; freeway driving was a fun run for a change with the sport-feel of the road; country curves & desert "thank-you-mums" were even more pleasurable with the X-Type's road- hugging & shorter wheelbase handling. Our 25 mpg average on this trip was most welcome in light of the $3+ pump prices; a fair exchange for a downsized wagon.

Great value for entry-level luxury! It has leather, AWD, preppy engine, full maintenance, Jaguar name... can't be beat! No problems in 8 months, Jaguar quality has gone totally up.

I like the car over all it has a lot of power. It is small enough I like all the features in it. Coming from Volvo background, it has same comfort and gadgets as Volvo does. Very satisfied.

Nice VDP

Purchased an elite VDP 3.0 with decked out rims, etc. Happy with car overall. Hit deer going 40 mph and car held up to impact surprisingly well - only cosmetic damage. Very sturdy car (had Volvo previously) - feel safe. Some transmission issues already. Fails to up/downshift causing annoying jerking to ride. Trans seems to slip. Premium stereo could be better. Would like more interior space - need to adjust seats for different size guests depending where they sit. Larger sun visors would be nice. Don't like the center armrest much.

The only thing I don't like about my car is the mileage, but I knew that going in. The car drives like a sports car - quick off the line, responds easily and effortlessly, takes the corners like a champ! There is one annoyance - a sporadic rattle and bump from the steering column (I think) which the dealer can't figure out. Other than that, this car is a gem! And people ooh and ahh when then see it or I tell them I have a Jaguar.

I love my car. I never have seen another one on the road. This car is so practical, I really hope they continue making them. I'm really tired of SUVs and this car is the perfect alternative. Really stylish!

Great handling automobile. Other than wind noise, it is a pleasure to drive. Given the length of the wheel base and suspension, this automobile rides rather comfortably. I would defintley buy again.
