I am loving this car!

This car was not even on my radar. I thought it was too small for my 6'7" husband, but the salesperson told me it had been redesigned and that the inside had more room! Indeed it did! We tried over a dozen cars from luxury to large SUV's. This 2020 QX 50 places more items on it's sleek dashboard and leaves more leg and shoulder room in the cabin of the vehicle. The power seats have so many adjustments that my husband has as much headroom as in did in our late model Mercedes 450! The seats are comfy, the technology is sweet, it has Apple Play, blind spot warning, lane warnings and the engine has pep!! I was used to a 8 cylinder Jeep and Benz and this sweet ride is just as smooth and much easier on the wallet for gas! It looks small on the outside but don't let that fool you! The back space is very big and the back seats have a 60/40 split! Infiniti gives you road service and live traffic for four years. I have had no buyers remorse and each time I drive the car I am happier than the time before!

GOOD DEAL FOR THE MONEY

Bob D, 03/14/2020

My current lease was almost up and I decided I wanted an suv this time around. I liked the look of the QX50 but I didn't like all the poor reviews of the 2019 model on Edmunds. I decided to test drive the 2020 model to see if any of the problems of the 2019 might have been corrected. I was impressed with the ride and size but really impressed with the power of the new engine. I had no problem with the cvt transmission at low or high speeds. My current car is a three litre 300 twin turbo which I love, yet I see no noticeable differance in power. Yes, I did have a problem with the light steering feel but I changed the setting from standard to sport in the settings option screen and it tightened up to my liking. I really was surprised to like this suv. I live in the city so I never expect good gas mileage from any vehicle and this one is no different. You are always stopping for lights or stop signs so there is just no way you are going to see good mileage. On the highway it's just the opposite. I'm getting almost 30 MPG and the ride is great. The power is very acceptable at any speed. I also found no power lag going up hills which many complained of with the cvt transmission. Many nice features for the money. All in all I'm very happy and surprised with this suv.

I was in the market for an SUV as I had only ever driven coupe vehicles. I had test driven the Inifinti QX50, Acura RDX, Audi A3 & Nissan Murano (in that order). All I can say is how the QX50 really set the bar high for the others. It's a smooth ride. We've already taken it up to the cottage and it was dream on both the highway and side roads. The seats are also so comfortable. The BOSE stereo system and panoramic roof is also a beautiful touch - it adds a lot of natural light inside the car (my interior is black). A full tank gets around 600km. Only dislike is the gas requirement is premium. It was a pricey purchase, but I don't regret it for a minute, I also plan to have it for as long as possible.

Very bad Gas smell when parked in garage. Dealer ‘claims’ they are not aware of the issue. Many posts online for the same issue with the 2019 so the issue is ongoing. Beware....

• Backup sensor warning light randomly comes on when sitting at a red light. Took it to the dealership in December 2020 and sensor has not come back on. • Both screens went completely blank yesterday, 2/13/21. This is the 2nd time since my purchase on 7/4/2020. • Both screens have frozen up and will not unfreeze unless I restart the vehicle. • There is a wind sound during highway driving. Unsure where it is coming from. • Overall I am happy w/the vehicle thus far. The electrical issues need to be addressed. I’ve scheduled an appointment with Infiniti of Tampa 2moro to look at my blacked out screens. The gentleman I spoke with yesterday states they have been receiving many service requests to address the blacked out screens.

Quiet, responsive, fantastic tech. I love the pro pilot assist. The car "experts" love to complain about the cvt transmission. Don't listen to that crap. You won't be able to tell. Infiniti has done a great job with it. Drive the car. See for yourself. The mileage is excellent. (Update after 1 year+. There have been a few electrical blips.. Lost settings that have to be re entered. But I'm still a big fan)

Worst vehicle & even worse service and support

Absolutely worst company to deal with. Leased a new 2021 QX50 Sensory edition. Tons of electrical issues from time changing, hands free phone buttons not working, crash sensors going off for no reason, inTouch would not work, Android auto wouldn't connect, navigationPOI would bring up results from Canada, (live in Texas) ect. So many trips to the service department and nothing could be done. Dealership said no one had issues like that must be a faulty car. Bought out the lease and talked us into leasing another QX50 Sensory but this time a 2022. 1 week after leased the map screen went black, the radio keeps going out, the safety alerts are going off. Same thing all over again. 4 months of this after 8 months of the same stuff with the 21. Infiniti Consumer Affairs was pointless and useless. Said their hands were tied because no codes showed up on multiple diagnostics. Which is not accurate. Their suggestion was to get a 2nd opinion from another infiniti dealership. Enter Sewell Infiniti. I explained all the issues they checked it out found codes and were directed by infiniti to completely replace the A/V unit (both center screens) in the car. They completed the change I picked it up on Saturday and on Sunday the map screen blacked out and Monday the radio went out again. Basically they can do nothing to fix their own cars and they basically could give a crap less. They have no interest in dealing with their customers or providing any reasonable options whatsoever. There were 6 other brand new 22 models in the service department waiting to have their A/V units replaced too. Completely insane! Just avoid this manufacturer period! These issues have been going on for at least 3+ years over various models and they clearly have no interest or intent to address them.

Absolutely love this truck! My truck drives great and I don’t have the issue of the light steering wheel that others have noted. I test drove two at two different dealerships the first one did have the light steering but my second one didn’t. It appears that this problem is car dependent and not across the board. I would recommend test driving several.

Electronic problems

Ac works when it wants too, it’s a software glitch where the dealer has to reset the computer to get the ac to work. Obviously the technology is garbage. I’m noticing electronic problems occur from having usb c cables and usb cables in use for apple car play or android car play. Don’t use them you will create electronic problems when charging your phone. Check engine light comes on randomly and goes off. The service centers are [non-permissible content removed]. They are overwhelmed with customers and don’t give loaner cars until they find a good enough reason too.

Apparently when you drive QX50 and have iPhone this is where the problem starts. While you are on the road, all electronic system and all the screens in your car all of a sudden go black and restart. The phone gets disconnected and even the maps sometimes gets lost after restarting. Very inconvenient when you are on the phone or using GPS. Especially frustrating when it happens a few times in a row. Sometimes you cannot even count how many times it happens during your trip. Infiniti Canada doesn't want to do anything about it and blame your phone and phone provider.

AWD Edition 30 Nightmare

Tom, 07/29/2020

This is my 4th Infiniti and my last. I have had this vehicle one month and it has 495 miles on it. My last car was a Infiniti Q50 Red Sport AWD and in looking for a new car I wanted three main things: lower monthly lease payment, smoother ride and better gas mileage. With my QX50, I have achieved one, a lower payment. My car has the 20 inch wheels with those lousy run flat tires and my QX50 is THE WORST RIDING CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED! I feel every road imperfection with authority and if I drive over any sort of bump, I am met with a loud suspension THUD, the ride in my new car is horrendous. The ride in my car is so bad that I am going to take it to the dealer to see if something is wrong with the suspension. The gas mileage is the next problem (of many), I have not put the car in sport mode yet and have been driving very gently as I am breaking the car in an I am getting 19.7 avg MPG?? Really?? I thought the variable compression turbo engine and pathetic CVT was supposed to provide best is class MPG or close to it-NOT. Now onto the electrical multitude of issues: sometimes my car locks by pushing button on door handle-sometimes it doesn’t, sometimes my phone pairs to car-sometimes it doesn’t, sometimes my climate control temp setting and audio channel displays on the lower part of he upper screen-sometimes it doesn’t, sometimes my lower screen takes forever to load-sometimes it doesn’t, sometimes my saved driver settings per my smart key are there-sometimes I have to reset all of my preferences (yes I am using the same key).Today my lower in-touch control screen never turned on so I had no controls to any electronic functions of the car-no audio, no nav destination input, no climate control display. The mobile in touch app will not pair with my car. My upper navigation map screen will turn on-sometimes it doesn’t. Shall I continue with the problems? I certainly can... Again this is my 4th and last Infiniti, I am now actually hoping for more continual problems so I can get lemon law. But at least I accomplished one of my three goals with a new car, a lower payment. Man do I wish I would have selected a different manufacturer and model for a higher payment... Maybe my expectations are too high as I have had the car a month...

I've had my QX 50 for about 3 weeks now. I'm just starting to become comfortable with all of the electronics. The size, ride and feel of the car are great. The electronics for the gear shift, the climate, radio and safe driving take some getting used to. I find myself shifting from Drive to Reverse when looking for Neutral. The gear shifter is like a joy stick, but I'm not a gamer so it's not intuitive for me. But I'm getting there! Love the two years free maintenance deal and the 4 year warranty. Overall I'm happy with my new car.

Tech package is the most counter intuitive of any car I’ve ever driven. The driver’s seat is impossible to adjust so that the headrest and vertical angle fit. You either have to drive with the seat fully upright to lean your head back, or put the seat in a gansta lean. It just sucks.

My wife had a 2019 QX50 that was rear-ended and totaled, so we had to buy a new car. She would have been content to buy another QX50, but we ended up with a much better Audi Q5 for about the same price. The Pros and Cons in the Edmunds review of the QX50 sound right-on to me and were consistent from the 2019 to the 2022. The negatives that bother me most ....CVT engagement at low speed, loose steering, noisy acceleration, headrest tilted too far forward...all weighed against an otherwise very nice vehicle. Plus, the newer 2022 QX50 was actually a step backwards on its display technology....it may be a higher resolution display, but the graphics are just archaic and the map in particular is awful. The Audi is a much more refined vehicle on all fronts and was an easy choice.

I got this QX50 loaner while my 2020 Q50 is in for maintenance. It is a beautiful vehicle and I do not mind the infotainment system, guess I am used to it. Before my 2020 I had a 2014 Q50 3.7. This SUV moves compared to my other car a 2019 VW Tiguan. It accelerates quickly and definitely not a slouch. I drive always in sport mode so gas mileage is not important to me. Not sure which trim I got but it has all the cool safety features included. Now the really bad part and the reason I will never get this car. The CVT is annoying, makes a horrible engine sound. The RPM stays up longer before shifting. This reminded me alot of a previous car a 2007 and then 2009 Altima I had. I mean 14 years ago till now and the CVT is still around and still sucks. Maybe if it was not a 4 banger it might have been better, but I don't know. This had electronic shifter, weird to me and the manual mode is pointless. You need to use the paddle shifters, I cannot drive with both hands on the wheel, it does not feel right to me :). Another thing I noticed is the lines on the hood from the pillar towards the front. It looks like a gap, almost like the front end was hot and created a gap. both sides were like this so the hood looks open. This would have been a great SUV if it was not for the terrible CVT and 4 cylinders. Get it together Infiniti, leave the CVT for the Nissan brand if you cannot make it extinct.

I have owned this car for almost a year. I enjoy the ride especially on the highway. It has very good power all around , city and highway. I have had no problems at all with this car. My only dislike is the gas mileage. This car gets less gas mileage than my previous 6 cylinder q50. In the city I average 12 mpg, highway 23. My q50 did 16 city almost 30 highway. They need to dump the cat transmission. Too much slippage!! Overall I enjoy the car for comfort, power and interior room. Very comfortable. A real gas hog for a 4 cylinder variable engine.

I had a 2012 Infiniti G37XS and it was great! It had a leaking issue with the moonroof but other then that was a wonderful car. My new 2020 GX50….. wow! This car is such a piece of crap! It’s like they are [non-permissible content removed] now but still way over priced. I will NEVER buy another Infiniti and I can’t wait to unload the one I have as soon as I can! The turbo sounds like a dying animal, alignment already has issues after getting it aligned one month ago. The CarPlay only works half the time and I have spent so much money buying actual APPLE brand cords but it still don’t work. Problems with oil pressure and the interior is much less quality then my old car. It’s so sad. This was my favorite car brand for many years. Don’t spend the money on this [non-permissible content removed] brand. Over priced Nissans lol I feel like a fool for how much I raved about this car brand.

I did not know what run flat tires were when I purchased the vehicle. When I got to the finance person he put the feat of god in me if I did not take the insurance on the the tires & rims. I own the car at that point, so I went to 4 tire shops around town to see if they carry these tires. I was told they could get them but it would take a day or two. You get no spare or jack with the car. If you are on vacation in the country and there is no dealer around plan on staying til the local tire shop finds you one. The steering on this car is electronic not hydrolytic and is tight and responsive it drifts at high speeds. I wanted to buy the car after the lease but will turn it in because of the tires which are expensive to replace.

My lady loves the QX50 and so do I. She named it White Satin. We are not SUV people but we love the vehicle. Beautiful inside and out. They need to update information center. The dash is basally the same as the Q50 otherwise it a good lease. I must point out that we've had the vehicle for a week. So far no issues. Was surprise it comes with a 4 cylinder turbo engine. Don't really like the CVT transmission but its ok. I thought it would have a 6 cylinder engine but it has nice responsive speed with the turbo egnine. So far we love the QX50 Luke.

The CVT engine is mostly just noise and very slow to respond - sounds good, but doesn't go anywhere. It revs high but will will practically crawl in response. And the interior is poorly designed. The cup holders are very tight and right in front of phone charger. And no place for phone. The dual display often doesn't work (something wrong 1x/weekly). And the TomTom navigation interface is incredibly outdated. Hard to believe it is 2023 and this is still what they offer...display looks like its from 1990's or early 2000's. Overall, very poor performance and poor interior use of space and outdated tech. I will NOT buy Infiniti again nor will I recommend it.

Don’t buy Pre-paid maintenance

I’ve driven Lexus SUV’s for the past 10 years & moved over to Infiniti for trunk size. The ride is hard and putting car into neutral is a challenge. The worst part, was we purchased pre paid maintenance agreement & when it came to getting my $999 30,000 service they refused to pay since I was at 31,000. It is no where in contract that it must be exactly at 30,000. I will never buy Infiniti again.

Test drove a QX50 Sensory today since my Volvo XC90 lease is coming to an end. I must say, it does drive well 7 styling is great. Unfortunately its 2020 & a car MSRP of 54k with something as simple as wireless phone charging is just unacceptable in a "Luxury" brand

Strong Mold smell From Air Conditioning

Purchased this Used 2020 INFINITI QX50 with 11,000 miles. After a week we noticed a strong stench of mold coming from the A/C when I first start the vehicle and then mold smell will disappear after 10 or 15 minutes. Took the vehicle back to Naples Infiniti several times and they weren't able to correct the problem. Own this QX50 for more than a year and is garage kept. Lucky for me that I have other vehicles and don't have to drive this one often. Also, due to the shortage of chips and vehicles to choose from, I paid the same price as a brand new 2022. I'm extremely disappoint with this purchase! I recommend be extra careful when buying a used vehicle (especially in the state of Florida after Hurricane Ian.

My second Infiniti is a 2022 QX50. The clock has malfunctioned from the start. Took it in to dealer (Infiniti of Tampa) on a scheduled appointment. Waited four hours in a freezing waiting area. Told it is a "known issue" but that they do not have a fix for it. Wrote to corporate, got a call from Loren a "regional customer services manager" who told me the same thing. I inquired as to when the software fix would be available. She did not know and could not tell me when. I wrote to Roland Krueger, Chairman and Global President of Infiniti at 183 Queens Road East, Wan Chai, Hong Kong 999077, today to ask him to do his job and make this update a priority. It is his job not mine to get this fixed. I encourage anyone else with issues to write him directly and demand that he do his job. Investors are you listening?

Definition of Average = Infiniti QX50

From a looks perspective, the QX50 does the job well (both inside & out). Good looking lines, paint & lights make the exterior one that stands out. Inside the vehicle, you will be impressed with the layout, legroom & storage. The finishes are on-par with the Mazda Touring level, which is nice, but it’s definitely not on the same level as Audi, Lexis, Benz, etc. Where the Infiniti falls off significantly however is the driving experience. The CVT transmission is terrible. Shifting between gears is not smooth in the slightest, and at times not shift until your RPMs are nearing/going over 5k, even during moderate acceleration. This is embarrassing for any vehicle, much less one that is trying to compete in the ‘luxury’ category. At the end of the day, the QX50 is a nicely dressed Nissan. If that’s your cup of tea, then you’ve found your vehicle.

I am glad I didn’t let the professional reviews scare me from test driving the QX50. The CVT transmission was not as bad as the reviews stated and I personally thought it was smooth and did not think it was a deal breaker. The cons of the QX50 to me were the odd way of putting it in neutral & not having a spare tire 🛞 having run flats instead. The Pros were the comfort, appearance and quality of the interior. The acceleration was powerful & surprisingly smooth. The cabin was quiet and the suspension buffered rough Wisconsin roads. Cargo room was great and I love the look of the exterior. My wife and I really like this SUV❤️

It's an excellent vehicle, but the driver gets all the amenities. My beef is with the lack of amenities for the passengers. The back seat barely holds 3 people. There are no extra cup holders in the back except for the middle console but you cannot use that if there are 3 people in the back. The driver cannot control the rear climate from the front (I've been wondering why it's so hot even though the AC is on max), also only 2 vents in the back which is not nearly enough airflow to cool the back seat. The seats are stiff, leg room is sufficient for average-sized people. The hitch seems like it was added as an afterthought. It is located pretty far under the vehicle, making it difficult to attach a bike rack or other cargo racks (I needed to get an extension).

The infotainment system has a mind of its own, every couple weeks it does something new and different. Including the radio, not working and radio stations playing on other channels. Other times the screen won’t light up, and the controls are horrendous. It’s been in the dealer many times for repairs, but has never made an impact. Then while sitting in the dealer waiting area, I’ve heard many other QX 50 owners complaining about the same thing.

NOT TURNED ON BY INFINITI

This car wasn't on my radar, but when i came across it the size, and color is what drew me in. i test drove this car and immediately fell in love, it was smooth, silent, and comfortable. I should have known that this was too good to be true. Within the first week my navigation and radio screens went black a few times. Believe it or not, there was worse to come.. my driver seat got stuck in the furthest position, it took them 3 months to get a part, and fix it, meanwhile i'm still making the payment and don't have a car to drive. No courtesy vehicle... oh it gets worse, a week after getting the car back i start hearing rattling noises from the front of car, a humming, and i noticed that the car was hesitating when accelerating, there was vibrations while driving(shaky but not too shaky but noticeable, and power loss during driving. Took car to shop was told the humming was from when they rotated my tires(um this isn't the first time they rotated my tires, and i never encountered this before) so tires were re-rotated to where they were when bringing the car in.(2 nd dealership said it could have been from when the car sat for 3 months and tires were flattened from not being moved) the rattling the first dealership didn't hear but suggest i only use premium gas or higher from shell, exxon, or sunoco( no mom or pop stations) the acceleration and other issues were not even addressed. Second dealer heard noise, changed out a part(vcr-no idea what that is) which helped with accerleration(atleast thats what i thought) didn't feel the vibrations or the power loss while driving. Well after fixing part still hearing rattling, car still has the vibrations, and now theres a buck while driving. Mechanic test drove car with me and my husband i pointed out the same noise from the first visit with the 2 nd dealer after it being fixed and was told thats how the car sounds(funny you didn't say that when you 1 st heard the noise) driving both me and my husband feel the vibrations, and can feel the car losing power, not mechanic , to him car sounds and runs great. Oh final verdict... i need to put more mileage on the car, and again was encouraged to only use premium or high end gas... needless to say not happy 3 visits for the same thing and this is my final answer...
