2024 Hyundai Santa Fe XRT 4dr SUV AWD (2.5L 4cyl Turbo 8AM)

I purchased my Santa Fe XRT in March of 2024. These past two months driving it have been great. I receive lots of compliments on the new body style. I will say, it looks a whole lot better in person. If you aren’t sold on the design from photos, I would recommend going in person and checking one out yourself. The 2.5L turbo in a family SUV makes this almost feel like it isn’t a family SUV. It is more than enough power and torque for us and most families. The wet DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) shifts seamlessly and it at times, it is almost unnoticeable, unless you’re really paying attention to them. The interior features and safety features across all trims are what set this vehicle apart from others, while being below their price point. That, paired with the 10 year powertrain warranty and a really good Hyundai Dealership will keep this vehicle running for years to come, especially with regularly scheduled maintenance. I am receiving over 20mpg driving in the city of Virginia Beach and into the 30’s driving on the highway, so I am receiving well over advertised MPG’s with what should be the worst trim level for MPG’s. To be honest, I do not have a lead foot. I am usually a speed limit driver and get passed by nearly everyone. The XRT’s tires and height difference do not really make that much of a difference in feel. The interior cabin seems no louder than when I test drove the SEL. It does help when loading a child into a car seat, which leads me to my next favorite thing, the inside space. Due to the boxiness, the interior is a bit bigger than the previous gen Santa Fe and it shows. The third row is actually useable, especially if you are transporting people under 6’. This is a big family’s dream. There are TONE of cup holders. The leatherette seats and plastic are easy to wipe down. Plastic…this leads me to some of the things I dislike. There is a lot of plastic used in the interior of this vehicle. The plastic used in the center console feels super cheap. It creaks on hot days. The creaks happen when driving and going over bumps. It almost sounds like a house settling. I am hopeful that this will stop in the future and it isn’t totally a deal breaker because once the vehicle cools off inside, the creaks stop. The plastic is the same throughout the vehicle and in the trunk, when the seats are folded, stuff in the back can slide around and damage the plastic. There are already scratches on the arm rests in the third row from our stroller hitting it. I just wish that instead of that cheap feeling plastic, Hyundai would’ve opted for a softer touch material. For the XRT, it seems as though US trims do not come with the advertised Skid Plate. The fact that a more off road trim doesn’t come with 360 degree cameras is baffling to me as well. The XRT, considering its ability to tow 1000lbs more than other trims, does not come with an included tow hitch. Why? That doesn’t make sense to me either. Back to the good. The infotainment system works great. Wireless Apple CarPlay works awesome with no sudden disconnects like some vehicles I’ve used. The sound system is basic but perfect for people who are just playing Disney songs for their little ones like we do. The HDA is awesome and makes long trips much more tolerable. Sometimes it may feel like the vehicle struggles to stay centered but it hasn’t traveled outside of the lane, even on curves between 65-70mph on the highway. I found the best way to use it is to lightly hold the steering wheel because if you hold it too tight, you will most certainly be working against the steering wheel while it’s trying to stay centered, causing much more side to side sway. The smart cruise control is amazing, it even notices when a vehicle jumps in front of you going faster than you are, not slowing you down but keeping speed instead of braking. While other times, it will slow you down because someone is exiting in front of you and out of your lane. That part can be annoying. If you stick to the center lane, this isn’t an annoyance. The safety features work great. Blind spot monitoring works in the rain. Just have to keep the sensors clean. Overall, I love my 2024 Santa Fe XRT. The drive is clean and smooth. A perfect vehicle to compete with the size of the Palisade at a more affordable price. UPDATE: I loved my Santa Fe. This was the first brand new vehicle I had ever bought myself. I had it for 8 months. When I first bought it, it drove smoothly. The tech was great. The room was spacious. I boasted and even defended this vehicle from multiple transmission complaints, saying “trust the brand and warranty”. Do not trust this vehicle and its DCT. That is all I have to say. 3k miles and the shuttering started and only got worse. I refused to be stranded hours away from home with my four year old daughter.

The SEL Santa Fe Hybrid is a really good ride.

I shopped around and was looking at Chevy Suburbans, Toyota Sequoya, Hyundai Palisade and the new Santa Fe. Having come from driving a Suburban for the pas 8 years, I looked there first. However, I would have to spend over $80K to get what I wanted and I would not save any money on gas. I passed on the Toyota for the same reason. Finally looking the the Santa Fe and the Palisade and test driving them both, I like the smoother ride of the Santa Fe. The SEL trim to me was the sweet spot. Of all the extras that the more expensive builds had, the only thing I was going to miss was the side cameras. And to me that is not worth an extra $10K. Wireless carplay uses my iPhone and the navigation with Waze is a lot more flexible that any nav system Hyundai would add. Generally, your phone is the best infotainment system on any drive. Finally to the good part. Everyone mentions that the Hybrid has decent MPG 34/35. But what no one has mentioned is that it has a range of 550 miles; more if you learn to optimize the EV part of the truck. The gas tank is 17.5 gallons. My Suburban had a 27 gallon tank and I could barely get 500 miles out of it. It takes me almost three weeks to fill up. And when I do, its half the price(almost) of what I am used to. The ride is very smooth. The acceleration is great. It's not a sport car but it can move and when it does, the battery gets charged. Plenty of leg room and storage space. Overall it's an enjoyable ride. OK, here are the negatives and to me they are relatively minor. First, it's a Hyundai. What that means is that there will be quality control issues (assembly QC issues are based at the plant in the US and not Korea), especially on a first year redesign. Since I bought it, there have been three recalls (only one minor one for the hybrid). The car constantly yells at me to take a break (maybe it knows something I don't). I already have a wife so the car needs to keep its opinions to itself. And what's the point for self steering cruise control if it yells at you to keep your hands on the wheel? If I have to have my hands on the wheel, I will steer without its help. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase. If I could wrap in in bubble wrap and keep all scratches and dents away, I would.

We bought our 2024 XRT in June of 2024. We loved everything about the car until September... The first issue we had was after my wife remotely started the car. Her Sante Fe lunged forward with nobody in the car while my 4 year old daughter was 3 feet from the front end of the vehicle while walking around to get in. The car was scheduled for a dealership visit to remedy this after a recall due to the WRONG code being put into the vehicle's computer system during manufacturing. I will admit that problem has not occurred since. However, that was the first of many problems. In September, shortly after a dealership visit for an oil change and recall repairs, our car became completely unreliable. It went haywire with every dash light on, power steering loss and the car would not turn off. The dealership had to call a tow truck to pick it up. They gave us the run around for a couple months before saying it was fixed in late November. We pick up the car and 48 hours later... Same issue. The car went back to the shop and as Christmas approached I reached out to the loaner department to let them know I needed a 4 wheel drive vehicle as that is what we purchased. We had a trip to Iowa to see family and wanted the 4x4 in case of snowy roads. They informed me that loaners were not supposed to leave the state. I asked to speak with a manager at this point and shortly after this, I received a call that our car was ready. Obviously, I was skeptical and asked to speak to the GM as I didn't trust taking that car on a 1,000 mile+ plus journey immediately after it's been in the shop for 3 months. Thankfully(so I thought) the GM made an exception and gave us a brand new 2025 Sante Fe XRT as a loaner to take to Iowa. Unfortunately that car broke down on the way to Iowa. The dealership rented us a vehicle to finish our trip and come back home in. Upon returning home, we picked up our car. We were able to drive it about 5 weeks before the same problem happened again and then again a couple weeks later and again a couple weeks after that. Each time the dealership told us the car was fixed. We have now owned the car for 9 months and we have had the car in drivable condition for approximately half of that time. We have taken steps towards a lemon law claim through Hyundai. Unfortunately, they have told us that we do not qualify. Additionally, the mentioned the possibility of Hyundai buying the car back in an act of good faith. Apparently they do not believe we deserve that either. We have spend countless hours and money on fuel dealing with this mess. In total we have been in 6 different loaner vehicles. Every time we go to the dealership is a minimum of 3 hours of our time wasted when you include our drive time to and from the dealership. DO NOT BUY A HYUNDAI!

2024 Hyundai Santa Fe SEL Hybrid 4dr SUV (1.6L 4cyl Turbo gas/electric hybrid 6A)

Great value. I drove almost everything in this category before driving the new Sante Fe hybrid. I was prepared to not like the new body style but really liked it once I saw one in the showroom. I thought it was odd that the SEL did not come with floor mats. I had to order them. They came in 3 days later and did not fit (??). I had to return them and was told that there was a problem "Hyundai-wide" with the new hybrid floor mats not fitting. No date so far for the "fix." WeatherTech doesn't have them either. That said, the car is a great value! Most vehicles in this class have front seats that are way too small. Not the Sante Fe. First tank of gas is giving 37 mpg. Very comfortable and very quiet. I'm glad I waited for the new body style.

2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy Hybrid 4dr SUV AWD (1.6L 4cyl Turbo gas/electric hybrid 6A)

Recently purchased a 2024 Santa Fe Hybrid Calligraphy trim. So far I've had the following problems: 1. Unable to get the digital key function to work on my I-Phone. Took it to the dealer and they worked with the Blue Link specialists and still haven't solved the problem. 2. I popped the hood and the next day found the handle that's pulled to open the hood on the floor. 3. Unable to get the Home Link function to work. Tried all the methods, training etc. no luck. I have a 2019 Honda Ridgeland with the same Home Link feature and had no problem using the training function on the garage door opener to train the Honda Home Link features. 4. Took a ride this afternoon and after about 5 miles the car started to jerk and stall, warning lights flashed, message appeared to check the charging system, among others. Had to have the car towed to the nearest dealer. Not bad for a $50k+ vehicle that's not a month old.
