Used 2013 Hyundai Elantra Consumer Reviews
Buyers Beware
I recently purchased a 2013 Hyundai Elantra Limited. After a lot of research I decided this car was the best value for the money - and it is. However, within 2 weeks of owning this car I was in a minor fender bender and my strut was broken. Yes, minor accident = broken strut. Turns out Hyundai sold me a car they do not have replacement parts for. When this car is running, it's great, but dealing with Hyundai to get replacement parts has been a nightmare. It's been three weeks and Hyundai has not been able to tell me when this part will become available. So for now, my brand new car is collecting dust at a garage waiting on Hyundai to pull a part from the production line.
Mpg rating, lie.....
I bought this car last week as a college student thinking I was going to get great gas mileage. Every review i read was great, but of course I never ran across anything about the bad MPG ratings. Well it has about 600 miles on it and it is getting about 25 average mpg and this is with about half my driving on the freeway. That is 8 under the average mpg it should be getting. Its sad, and Hyundai doesn't care, nor does the dealership at hilltop hyundai in richmond, california. All in all its a great car other than the fact it does not do what it is advertised as.

2013 Hyundai Elantra Limited Rear Tire Wear
The rear tires wear out 3-4 times faster than the front tires. I can only get 15,000 miles out of a 70,000 mile tire. I would not recommend this vehicle to anyone. The first Elantra I purchased was a great car. The 2013 is junk. I will not ever buy another Hyundai.

Feeling Screwed Over
I purchased a 2013 Elantra new. I immediately had issues with the mileage. It is stickered for 41 mpg highway. I have never gotten more than 34 mpg after adjusting for the 2.7 mpg the gauge is off when compared to the odometer and actual fuel purchased. The compensation card issued by Hyundai due to the court settlement doesn't even come close to compensating me for the lower mileage. This is the first car I have ever had that has gotten less than the sticker. After 15k or 20k miles there were issues with the pollution control system that took 4-5 trips to the dealership to resolve. Now at 107k (virtually all highway miles) the car engine started making rattling noises that turned out to be a bad piston. The dealer estimates the repair cost to be over $5,600. This is in spite of regular maintenance checks and oil changes. Finally the two sets of 80k mile tires I have had on the car after the initial set that came with the car have each lasted less than 45k miles and developed significant road noise after about 25k miles even with regular rotation. Never again will I purchase a Hyundai and I discourage everyone I talk to from purchasing one too.
