Used 2013 Hyundai Elantra Consumer Reviews
Hyndai Rewards Card for Mileage issues
This is less a review of this model than of Hyundia in general. In this case, I'm talking about the program to repay customers for when they overstated their EPA estimated mileage. 1st, they "average" the mileage between city and highway. Not so bad, except that they "round" the result to favor themselves. By high school math, whenever you get ".5", it gets averaged upwards. They average it downwards. Thus, for my 2013 Elantra, they were off by "1.5" mpg, so the averaged it to 1 mpg instead of 2. Then they make it very annoying to collect. For example, they don't send you a check, they use a "debit" card which you can't use without looking up your VIN #. Who carries that around?
Now four years old
Once the car reached 15000 miles the gas mileage improved. Slight squeak in the right front area of the dash windshield area that was corrected under warranty by the dealer. The car is fun to drive and has been trouble free so far. Checked out the 2017 Elantra recently and found they upgraded the engine to a 2 litre put in a height adjustible front passenger seat and a rear backup camera on the car all for the same price I paid for the 2013. Vehicle now has 45000 miles on it with no problems. Highway mileage lately giving 52 mpg (imperial gallon). Disappointed with the electrical. The car was just off warranty and the main fuse block went along with the a/c fan. Also the Bluetooth quit. Mileage was 55'000 miles. the dealership offered peanuts on a trade up to a new Elantra. Car was babied since new. Bye bye Hyundai.

2013 Hyundai acceleration malfunction
2013 Hyundai Elantra unsafe to drive, accelertion malfunction. I have purchased a brand new 2013 Hyundai Elantra which has accelerated unexpectedly 2 times and the last time, the car was not able to be stopped before it crashed into a concrete wall. We have had the car checked by Hyundai through their 6 week process and they have come back to us with a letter stating nothing was wrong. When we asked for a copy of the testing they said they were proprietary and they could not give me a copy. Where do you go from here?
So Sorry I Bought One
I needed a good gas mileage low cost car to get to for work as my top priority. I got a little over what I wanted in payments, not bad but here is the worst part. It gets 19mpg on my commute and 17 if I am late and racing the car. Going back to the dealer they just point out on the sticker (I kept) that even though it says 30-40, in very small print by that it says 13-99mpg. Best vehicle rates 112 mpg's. Depends on how you drive. I just go to work and back! The cars do not come with spares & during my deal I was told they don't make them. So no offer was ever made to get me one. The next day I called back and they said they would sell me one.
