We bought the car in September 2011 (2012). The car is light blue, fun to drive as long as it's working. Rear view camera quite often doesn't work when in reverse. Rear back panel under the windshield became sticky jelly so it was replaced but the shop messed up the glass under the tail light. The rear seat began to fail taking another 4 hours to replace. The steering wheel began to peel - within 6 months became a mess so it was replaced. Navigation system with voice as you all know is junk. Satellite Radio is ok. Bluetooth doesn't always work. There's a tapping sound from the engine on start up and when freeway driving on cold days. Leaking oil from oil pan seal when only shop serviced.

I bought a 2012 GLS on 12/20/2012. After two days I thought it was a diesel as it "rattled" that much. Took it to the dealer and they found metal shavings in the oil of my car with 26 miles on the clock.They replaced it for a 2012 Limited and this one has a worse grinding "diesel" like sound. I drove a Jetta TDI which is half as quiet as my Elantra. This is not just at startup, but when you accelerate. Am I crazy or is this just how the motor sounds? My friends 2012 doesn`t sound half as bad.

I purchased the 2012 Elantra GLS about 3 months ago and so far the car has been great. My main reason for buying this car was to save in gas as I routinely drive a 100-mile one-way trip for business. I know many have complained about the gas mileage. If you're gauging use based on the on-board computer readings, it's not always an accurate indicator, particularly if you get caught in a lot of traffic. Driving alone I average 43 mpg on the hi-way driving just over 70 mph. Obviously in town it's much lower, but it exceeds my needs. I really did like the Focus, but to get all of the options I got with the Hyundai, I would have paid another $6K and it just wasn't worth the extra money

I am sitting in the dealership service department waiting for them to Fix a coolant leak, the A/C, and try to figure out why it blows an astronomical amount of smoke when I accelerate to pass another vehicle. This is a $21,000 brand new automobile and there is no reason for me to have this kind of trouble this soon after purchasing. As many of the other post stated as soon as Hyundai get your money they don't want anything else to do with you. Actually called Hyundai Motor Company to get explanation as to why I was having this trouble this early in my purchase. I was told that they have no explanation and was very rude. I will not be buying another Hyundai any time soon.

This car is a great value just loaded with features and feels like a class above what it is. I've had only for a week but I have found it to be smooth, responsive, quiet and really great gas mileage. It has very good transmission. I love the way the car looks inside and out especially the instrumentation at night. I looked at many different cars and I simply could not come close to what this car offered at such a great price. Outward rear visibility could be a bit better but seems fine overall.
