Used 2019 Honda Passport Consumer Reviews
Fits My Needs
I had previously owned a 2008 subcompact SUV and I wanted something a little bigger with better power and MPG. The 9 speed transmission works great and a love the size.

Great car, BUT...
They market this car towards people who want a more rugged suv and claim it has off road capabilities. DO NOT BUY INTO THIS. I love the engine, the drive quality, the layout, and the looks, but when some old man drove me into a low median, the tire popped off the wheel and the wheel bent. This should not happen in a car that claims it can go off-road (even if the claim is “light off road”). I’ve read reviews that claim it can handle mild rock climbing. I call BS. My car was completely disabled by a 3 inch tall median. I’d post pics, which I’ve done on Facebook but I can’t on here. If you’re thinking of this car as an amazing commuter car or highway driving/vacation hauler, it’s perfect. Do not buy it thinking you’re getting a car capable of anything related to off road fun. I have never driven off road nor do I plan to do I didn’t buy it for that, but I’m shocked it couldn’t handle a small curb like median without being destroyed.

NICE VEHICLE,BUT THE PILOT STILL THE BETTER CHOICE
While getting my 2016 Pilot serviced, I spent an hour checking out what Honda has to offer with the new Passport. Sure, the raised ride height and butch front grill might appeal to a millennial but at what cost ? Slightly stiffer ride, need for running board for petite women, and less cargo room. Oh, and a Nine-speed auto with a serious failure history. The Six speed with a gear shifter instead of a silly dial would've given pseudo off- roaders something to hold on to. The cargo capacity is only 2 square feet more than the CRV and that vehicle gets 7-9 MPG more.Unless Honda starts offering a a decent lease deal or substantial discounts, they won't set sales records. If a buyer truly wants a more masculine look, suggest shopping the Toyota 4 Runner or new Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. The later offers resale value the Pilot can't ever hope to match. The Passport nothing more than a manufacturing experiment that didn't cost Honda alot to pull off. It's truly a misfit, IMO.
