Improved over 2016…not!

I bought a 2016 Civic EX and absolutely loved everything about it! The 1.5 Turbo engine was peppy and reliable. The ride was smooth and quiet. Gas mileage was incredible 32 city 42 highway. And I should have kept it. Got a brand new 2024 Civic Sport, and while it looks nice, that’s about it. Engine is sluggish, gas mileage dropped 4-10 miles per gallon and it’s INCREDIBLY loud and a rough ride. You feel every bump and dip in the road. Road noise is so loud you can barely hear the radio. Regrets for sure. You’d think things would have improved instead of going backwards.

I have tons of trunk space and I really like the inside. Only downside is there isn’t any air vents in the backseat

While the 2024 Civic I test drove had plenty of tech it did not have the performance of my 2017. It was CONSIDERABLY slower despite having the same drive train (1.5 L turbo/CVT). I drove the EX trim specifically to get the 1.5, which I’ve been driving since November 2016 in my 2017 hatchback sport. The 2024 felt very de-tuned—possibly to force people to the highest trim level (which is still slower than the 2017). We have been a Honda family for decades, so I hope this is a one off business decision. My 17 year old is now the proud owner of my 2017 Civic. I was looking to repeat the process and buy a 2024 Civic for my now 13 year old to take over in a few years. Instead, I bought a top trim level Kia Forte for far less than the Civic EX. I love the car at the 400 mile mark, but the real feedback won’t be available until it provides years of reliable service like my Hondas have. I will say that so far it is seems to be a tremendous value, though the gas mileage is less than that of my Civic. I will also say the negative feedback I saw regarding the car is not anything I’ve experienced. It drives great—very quick, very comfortable and a ridiculous amount of tech for the price point.
