Great car, Great price
I purchased this car 4 days ago and really love it. It has a sporty look and feel to it. Car handles well. Note: I did get Goodyear tires on mine. Depending on the location where you buy, you might get Bridgestone. Don't know if this makes a difference, but someone else was complaining about the Bridgestone tires. I drive 100 miles per day. This car gets more and more comfortable the more you drive it once you find your spot.
Very unsatisfied
I have been disappointed with this car since I bought it. The interior is poor quality and has a low comfort level. The inside door panels scratch easily. The seats and headrests are very uncomfortable. The a/c vents are too close to the steering wheel and my hands freeze. The road noise is awful. It sounds like the windows are down or there is a gap somewhere. However, there are a few things I do like about the car and they are listed in the "favorites" box.
- Hybrid SedanMSRP: $4,99940 mi away
- EX SedanMSRP: $7,99921 mi away
- Si CoupeMSRP: $7,90025 mi away
Commuter car
I bought the Civic for my 80 mile round trip commute every day. It does the job very well but there have been a few issues that I didn't expect from a Honda (this is my first). The air conditioning failed (due to road debris?). Not covered by warranty for some reason. The tires wore out very fast and unevenly (upper rear control arms were replaced per tsb but not the tires). There were two recalls, one for rear bearings and the other for water pump pulley cracking. A rattle in the rear deck I fixed myself with foam rubber. Overall not bad, but more problems than I would expect from a new car. Still it is a competent commuter car and hasn't ever left me stranded.
Problems with A/C
I recently had a problem with car such that the a/c was blowing only hot air. A trip to dealer showed an undiscovered leak in the refrigerant from the system. They were unable to find the leak after 4 hours and have placed a dye in the refrigerant to try to find the 'pin hole' leak. I've never had this problem with a Japanese vehicle. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I now am supposed to drive the car for 3 months and return the vehicle for 'discovery' of the leak.
Stop Complaining
I have put 76,000 miles on this car since it has been new. At first the road noise is bad, the stock tires stink, I replaced with General Altimax HP tires. These reduced road noise considerably. As for the several recalls on this car, I give Honda credit for issuing recalls on items that could easily be passed on to the consumer after the warranty period. Simply put this is a great car with a few flaws, but you get what you pay for. I wanted a very reliable car that was affordable and that is what I got. Plus its design allows me to preform most routine maintenance myself.
