DON'T BELIEVE THE GAS MILEAGE HYPE!

I was sold on the MPG numbers, but my Accord gets 34mpg hwy and 40 city. I took it back to Hendrick Honda and they gave me a lecture on potential poor driving habits. They said they checked everything and all was fine. This is my fifth Honda Accord so I have come to expect a certain degree of service and reliability. I FEEL BETRAYED BY HONDA. I don't know who these people who claim high MPG are. Hendrick Honda will not do a thing about mine though. The employee at Hendick Honda in Easley, SC was rude and condescending. For me it's ZERO or HERO. I give the 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid a "ZERO". UPDATE JUNE-2-2016 I now have 65,000 miles on my 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid and Mileage is currently 32 hwy and 38 city, not 45 hwy and 50 city as Honda claims. Roy, the rude shop manager has since been fired. The Honda is still a piece of junk compared to former models. Hendrick Honda still doesn't care about this customer and I will NEVER buy another car from them. June 2, 2018 I now have been driving my Honda Accord Hybrid for 4 years and have 125,000 miles on the odometer. The gas mileage has dropped to between 33mpg and 36mpg. The car still looks modern but I will never buy another new Honda. The gas mileage is good for a $25,000 car but I paid $40,000 for the hybrid to have better gas mileage. 100% not worth it. I won't get fooled by Honda again. UPDATE: DECEMBER 4, 2018 Took my vehicle back to Hendrick Honda to find out what was going on with the gas mileage. They charged me $90 and said there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. Thanks for nothing Mr. Hendrick! 6/5/20 170,000 miles. Engine is still strong. Down to 32 MPG. Regardless of make and model, you will do better letting someone else take the depreciation and buy the car used. 6/16/24 10 years in and 225,000 miles. I'm ready for a new car. I have bought Honda my whole life. I think I will look at what other options are available this time. MPG fluctuates between 32 and 37 depending if you are using the heater or the AC.

As a past dedicated toyota owner, I was so surprised by the ride and options that was offered. I wound up purchasing this car and so happy that I did. Although it has high miles, I am not concerned with Hondas reputation. Hoping that this will give me years of happy luxurious traveling!

I got the car 2 weeks ago and drove around ( Houston to Dallas trip) too. I was driving like a grandma for first 300 miles ( really low acceleration) and there on my friends drove it for 300 miles with full acceleration ( 10+ power bars). At the end of 1000 miles I got 39.2 mpg ( good I would say). Ride is comfortable for the long drives). Once I hit 60mph instant mpg drops to 36 and if I take it beyond 75mph it improves. Touched 85mph with just 3 power bars and ride is still feels smooth ( low noise).

43MPG.. 12 months of driving. Very poor pickup ( even compared to other Hybrid). No so fun to drive. Not worth the extra cost. After few years of driving, the avg MPG is now 38!.. its gone down significantly after 3 year.

I am happy for what I picked especially the mpg about average over 44 mpg for my first tank of gas. For all Accord hybrid: Please pay attention to your rear windshield, Have you see any object or image of waviness, curving around like you are in a steamy hot desert???? My Honda service manager, advisor all seems happen only on Hybrid. Honda won't do nothing if you all don't complaint it. I can't see ant straight line behind me!!!!!
