Terrible hesitation on accelerating

In my opinion, this is an outright dangerous car to drive due to it having a terrible "lag/hesitation" when you need to quickly accelerate. The first time this happened I was doing a rolling stop at a red light and needed to blend into traffic. When I pressed the gas pedal NOTHING happened, it was as if the car had totally shut off. I pushed the pedal to the floor, and it still just idled along with cars quickly bearing down on me from behind. Out of desperation I pumped the pedal and it finally started to accelerate but all this took too long with cars nearly rear ending me. I was sure something was wrong so I called the nearest Genesis dealership and was told it would be TWO MONTHS before they could get me in ! I had to travel outside my area to another Genesis dealer who checked the car out and drove it and told me this slow accelerating issue is NORMAL, there is NOTHING wrong with it !!! They put it in sport mode and told me that might help. But after driving it for another couple of weeks it still bogs down when you need to quickly accelerate. I had to completely change the way I drive this car and take into account this poor acceleration feature to avoid accidents. This is what you get for $ 60,000 ??? Additionally, I felt the seat was very hard and uncomfortable. The car rode rough and stiff, maybe by design. The technology was not very intuitive, I had to have the dealership tech expert explain how to use things. It comes with two owner's manuals an inch thick each, enjoy plowing through those. I did NOT feel safe driving this car. There is NO WAY Genesis is even close to other luxury car makers. This model has a problem and I felt abandoned by Genesis and the dealer. The only thing I liked was it has very nice styling.

I bought a new G-80 about 2 weeks ago. Traded in a BMW 740-iL. So far, this Genesis is fantastic. Acceleration is well above-average for a turbo V-6 and cornering is awesome (both in Comfort mode -- sport mode is even better). Fit and finish great also. Concierge service included for first 3 years with complimentary loaner -- they drop off and pick up.

FANTASTIC CAR, GREAT MID-SIZED LUXURY AUTOMOBILE

2023, 3.5 Sport Prestige. We waited until December 2023 to purchase and got a great deal on a dealer-loaner with only 1,200 miles on it. Pristine-perfect condition. We had looked at many other similarly priced cars, but in my research, I had seen a lot of buzz on the G90, we just could not, & did not want to afford its price even though I think it was 100% worth every penny. We test drove the G80 Sport Prestige after visiting many other dealerships and test-driving many other car manufacturers models. We both decided to purchase that very car on the spot, and it is now Mid-May 2024, and we are still "loving it!" We have driven in city, highway and taken a 600 mile (RT) to visit a family member and at the destination we were commenting we could drive another 300 miles that day and feel comfortable and rested again at the destination. (Once you adjust the seat massage correctly to your comfort level it is fantastic.) The main thing to keep in mind with this particular model (or the G90) is to take the time to adjust all of the vehicle parameters (Technology) to your body and your preferences before driving off into the sunset. This will take approximately 30 minutes per driver (Driver 1 and 2) Drive modes: "Comfort" mode which is default is absolutely comfortable soaking up road bumps and dips and there are even sensors to minimize minor potholes or rough areas of the road before the tires reach them, a very comfy luxury car ride, then you have at the other extreme "Sport Plus" mode is more than quite adequate to give an adrenaline rush, it is very responsive, tight handling with good cornering control. (Just don't use its full potential with your wife in the car!) I owned a serious BMW "5" series sedan; it was as you would expect from BMW but at a BMW price. The handling in serious sport driving was superior, but not for the many extra $$$ to own it. The G80 3.5T Sport Prestige is a perfect blend between luxury & sport that will not disappoint. The G80 also has plenty of "extra's" that the "5" series did not have, you had to go to the "7" series to get those. I am a very content old SCCA driver, racer and enthusiast that is over the top with this purchase. We purchased it originally just to have a solid full-size car to travel north America in during our retirement, yep, we found it! Atlanta to Newfoundland here we come!

My only complaint are the gauges. In these times and price range, the advanced package MUST have fully digital gauges. UPDATE: only 2 issues: for this price point the advanced package MUST come with a full digital valuable. And the steering wheel is old fashioned looking. Otherwise very striking car.
