Not Very Happy
We had no problems with this van up until 5 months ago and it has been a money pit since. Th OD lights has flashed while going through TN and EGR Valve light will not stay off even after replacing the valve and sensor. Now it is reading clylinder 1 missfire which is in the rear of the engine and not easy to get to. I will never buy another Ford mini van ever again.Oh yeah..the ac compressor went out and the control switch to the heater and ac went out also. BIG $$$$$. Oh yeah...I will never buy another Ford mini van ever again.
Windstar - if you can't get the oddessey
The only reason I leased the Windstar was the fact that I couldn't get the Honda Odessey. The lease on the Windstar similar to the Odessey since the residual is so much better on the Honda. The Windstar has been in the shop 4 times now for recalls. The steering fluid pump had to be replaced, as well as the ignition control module. The Windstar might be safe, but not very good. I'm glad I don't own it. The rear bench is very heavy, and should really be removed with 2 people.

Van is noisy, vibration in front at 55 mph, steering column pops, had rear wiper motor replaced, I also have grinding on start-up; service workers never hear it. Inside interior along windshield loose, lots of wind through windows. Never again will I own a Fix Or Repair Daily!
I Love My Van
I purchased this van used and I love it. I get better mileage than I get with my husband's new Honda. My son loves climbing in and out of it. We have taken this van everywhere and it works perfect.
Windstar: More Strengths or Weaknesses?
The Windstar is overall pretty average. The excellent crash test scores, and the standard powerful engine, are all big and important advantages. However, the Windstar has many fairly important and annoying disadvantages, like the noisy engine, poor handling and components, and slightly-too-frequent trips to the dealer, which make it fairly better than average. What makes it perfectly average is the lack of the cruise control option on the Base LX; I spent about $3000 to upgrade to the Standard LX just for this, since the other extra features are pretty useless. I feel that it is cheap of Ford to do this, and perhaps it makes them lose customers.
