Used 2000 Ford Taurus Consumer Reviews
Pretty nice car for the money.
I bought it over the internet and when I went to pick it up there were a few things wrong with it. Scratches all along the drivers door, brights do not work, windshield washer fluid does not work, spare tire is gone along with one of the tools to change it, the knob on the fan is busted, and a cupholder for the rear seat is completely busted off. So after all the negatives is there anything good about this car. Yes I love the seats, very comfortable. I also love how everything is power. I getting spoiled after upgrading from a 1988 car. Good family size car.
Wish i bought a chevy
I bought a taurus when my 1994 chevy lumina with 235k miles started having tranny problems. since I bought this car I have replaced the brakes and rotors 3 times in 40k miles, replaced the headlight knob multiple times, and had it towed to the garage. the milage isn't great, the hump on the left side kills me. not well designed for people over 6 foot tall. I am really unhappy with this car but can't get rid of it becuase of the horrible resale value.
Starting Problems
I am very disapointed with this car. I bought it used. It had 28K miles and was a least car. The problem started after about 7 months. It was then out of warranty. The problem is, on occasion it will not start. But if you wait a while, 10 minutes to an hour it will start. I've had it to machanics 4 times. One time to the dealer, and know one can find the problem. This is my 2nd Taurus. The 1st one was an 89 with a similar problem. Never another Taurus. I am about to trade it on a 20043 Camry.
Quality Car
Its a great car for every day travel and road trips. I would like to see an sho model in the future though.
Ok vehicle, but get a cheap mechanic!
The SE/SVG looks good, inside & out, but underneath there are some pretty expensive repairs waiting to creep up on you: just after buying this car, had to bring it back in (with dealer plates still attached!) because condensation from the heater/a/c unit leaked water all over the front passenger side floor. Dealer tried to charge $800+ to fix & then I had to bring it right back in to get them to fix it completely; chirping noise from front wheels was never correctly diagnosed - front rotors were shot, had to get private garage to fix, probably saved me $250+ than having incompetent Ford dealer try to fix it; steering wheel shakes around 60 mph & when braking from 60+ down to ~30; little things kill this car.
