Used 2000 Ford Taurus Consumer Reviews
My 6th Taurus is the best yet
After my first five taurus' I expected to do another transmissionb job and brakes on a regular basis, BUT this car has been great. Transmision shifts smothly and the brakes seem to not wear out so quickly. Fuel economy is better but the back seat entry puts your head at risk of hitting the rounded corners.
Great Car!
I bought my first 2000 Taurus in '05 and feel in love with this car! Drove it for year and a half with no mechanical problems at all, my first one got totaled this winter, and I bought another 2000 Taurus because I loved my first one so much, you can't get a better car for the money! It's got tons of room for hauling my dogs and my kids around, and I love the third seat!
Crunching Sound From Brake Area
In 3.5 years, I have had 5 brake booster assemblies on my car including the original. Ford tells me that the crunching noise of the brakes is a "characteristic" of the car and now offers no solutions except to live with it. I have been to two dealers and have also talked to their Customer Service department. I know there are lots of others that have this problem because they told me about 80% of Taurus' have this noise and they don't know of Ford actually doing anything about it. I look forward to the day I can get rid of the car and purchase either a Honda or Toyota; something with a better reputation.
a few problems but the dealer made good!
car was great until 40k. loud squeal under the hood. took three times for dealership to fix it. they made good with a free loaner (which was an ses and i hated to let go back). Turned out to be a bad water pump (1st), check engine back on (2nd), tension pulley bad (3rd). i chalk it up to poor part quality from ford's suppliers!!!!
My car review
I owned an 1987 ford taurus brand new in 3 months the ignition went, and went again after a year. The car stauled constanly after 25000 miles. Then in 2000 the new ones came out, and they were good looking. There were not many cars on the market that you could get key less entry, leather seats, and a 200hp V6 for under 20000 grand. So i decided to take it. Little did i know that there were 5 recalls in 3 years, and when they went to fix the recalls that seemed to be with the brakes, the switch, and tail lights they could never get it right. So I was back and forth to the dealership. So much fun right.
