The "do it all" midsize truck.
To be honest, when I was looking for a new truck I had my sights on a tacoma. After looking at ALL of the current midsize trucks, I personally found the ranger to be the best choice. Considerably less expensive than the tacoma, better towing than the 22 frontier, better off road stats than the canyon / colorado (not including ZR2). I went with the middle ground, a XL crew cab FX4. Im a functional type of person and thats what this truck is, functional to the core. I find the interior to be thought out and everything is grouped together in a way that makes sense, all the drivetrain switches are by the shifter, infotainment and climate are together, steering wheel controls are simple and easy to use, even small details like the rear of the cab having a felt strip to prevent seatbelt noise and scratches, a center console and glove box big enough to fix full size "hand held items", or even the dash material made so it doesn'tcasue glare in the sun, this truck definitely has a higher attention to detail that we have not seen from ford in a while. The body was built for better fuel economy and to wade through deeper water than competitors (reason the nose looks rounded to act like a boat hull). The FX4 package comes with skid plates, locking rear diff, 4x4, trail control, and hill assist. All of the features of the Tacoma TRD pro for about 15k less. The tech works just as id expect, the ride is much smoother than expected, and fuel economy is better than ford rated. My last 2 roadtrips ive averaged 26-28mpg when the 4x4 is only rated for 24hwy. Math was calculated from pump to pump, not just by the trucks computer, even though it was the same. I especially like the 2.3l turbo paired to the 10spd transmission. Going up and down mountain grades the truck handled it easily. Maintained a speed of 70-75mph while never going over 3-3.5k rpms. Overall I am extremely impressed with this truck and surprised ford was able to put out a truck that will rival and even outclass the tacoma and the rest of the competition for considerably less money. Off road capability is another big plus for this truck, with its specs and tech it rivals and again even outdoes the current "champ" the tacoma in some areas off road. If you're in the market for a midsize truck and are concerned more about capability than you are what the interior may look like this is the truck for you. This truck can handle just about everything you can throw at it and then some.

More then I expected!
I traded my Tundra in for better MPG. My wife and I visit family 1900 miles away every 3 months. We do this in two long days. The gas MPG average was 25.4. The big surprise was the seats were incredible comfortable compared to the larger Tundra. The Ranger is easy to drive and has plenty of power for passing. Great truck! Great ride!

Best vehicle I have ever owned
Outstanding value in its class. I have a 4WD FX4 version. Nothing to complain about off road as it has more than sufficient capability in that regard. Excellent power and fuel efficiency. Tracks and drives exceptionally smoothly and well. Great for long distance trips. Plenty of cab room in the super cab model. Excellent transmission. Ford knows how to make a great truck. There is really no competitor to this vehicle in its class, and that includes Toyota Tacoma and Honda Ridgeline trucks that cost more and have inferior capabilities . The Ranger is now the best selling compact 4WD truck in Australia, and there are a lot of reasons why that’s true. Find out for yourself and go drive one and compare.

Poor Transmission
The electric 10 speed transmission was a deal breaker. It decided when to shift, sometimes from a slow or rolling stop, the transmission would rev up in first, then go to neutral, and finally jump into third. I had two dangerous situations happen when I was entering into traffic. The dealer spent time with the truck, made a repair, recommended by central repair and it didn't repair anything. I've owned a 1988 Ranger XLT and a 2020 XLT V6. I miss both of them. This 2022 Ranger has a very awkward cabin, nothing is easy to reach from the driver's seat. The dealer is a great company, and we worked out an arrangement that I agreed with. After Ford has had such bad troubles with the focus and fiesta transmissions, you would think they would make sure the power train in all their vehicles would be perfect.

Great truck needs refining
Owned my 2022 Ranger XLT for about 4 months, prior to that I had a 2015 F150 Platinum. Love the Ranger, with that said there are a few things that need work. Has a vibration at low speeds on acceleration ( pinion needs shimmed) the hvac fan is so loud on high you cannot almost carry on a conversation, they also need to include the bed bulkhead rail so you can mount a tonneau cover as it is 1” lower than the rest of the bed. Even so its a great little truck, especially with the FX4 package. I’ve gotten comments on how it looks like a mini raptor. Not sure about that, but it does look good.
