Used 2005 Ford Freestyle Consumer Reviews
A Joy to Drive
I had a Acura and I love it. I did not think I could find anything better but the Freestyle is a joy to drive. I don't have the power that I was used to but in all other ways it is wonderful. I only have 8,000 miles on it but so far no problems. Great on long trips. One small complaint is the way the gas cap fits. Not designed for a woman's hand to take off. I always have a problem. But if that is all I can find wrong I will be happy for a long time.
Ford gets it right
Finally, a Ford interior that's attractive. Friends couldn't believe we bought a Ford, but once they see it, they understand why. Yes, it could be a bit more powerful, but the negative reviews regarding this aspect are overdone. What about the great gas mileage this cross-over gets with gas prices where they are? Looked at Cadillac SRX, Acura MDX and Lexus, and no question this is the best value - better gas mileage, more spacious, thousands cheaper. The Limited is loaded with luxurious features and the third row wins hands down relative to competitors. Safety features and ratings excellent as well. Glad to see the company utilizing technology from its luxury brands. Keep up the good work Ford!
Freestyle very versatile
I've only had this vehicle for a little over 4 weeks. It is fun to drive and has enough power. It has plenty of room for very tall people although when they are 6 feet 7 inches tall you might want to skip the moonroof. Most all of us in the family are tall. With AWD it handles very good in the rain and around corners which is good for me as I have never been comfortable making right turns at higher speeds. The gas mileage is better than an SUV even though it seats 7 comfortable. So far it has been a great vehicle with absolutely no problems. It is easy to get into and out and I love to drive it as do both my very tall sons who now would like to get one.
Best family transportation
I bought a 2005 Freestyle with 23,000 miles. Leather seats are real nice. I read some peoples issues with the CVT trans and the lack of power but I find the power fine loaded up with 6 pass and I average 28 to 29 mpg highway and 24 on country roads. With 4.00 a gal. milage would win over pwr.In Freestlys case it has both. Why Ford is going in 09 to a bigger motor and back to a 6 speed trans to lower milage to 15 to 20 mpg is a mistake. Plus all the seats including the pass seat fold flat to fit all kinds of material in it is a big plus. Family mover, material mover, nice looking, lots of room 29 mpg hwy their is nothing out their that offers so much. Buy a good used one now SEL or Limited
Love the flexibility
We bought in Dec 2007. It had only 17000 miles and we have put about 13000 miles on it since then. Have had no problems, other than tire wear. We really like the flexibility and usefulness of the vehicle. Most people don't know what it is, especially if we say Freestyle. But anyone who has ridden with us compliments it. MPG little less than what it states, 18/22. We could do without AWD if it gets us better mpg. Inside materials feel cheap, but haven't broken. Love the "command seating" and heated seats. Great for families because of flexibility to haul people and gear. DVD player wonderful for toddler, but blocks rear view. Will keep for long time, but like the looks of the Flex.
