Two 500 Family
My wife and I traded our both old cars at the same time and bought 2 500's. Mine is the SEL. I Have been a sedan man all my life until I bought an SUV four years ago. I'm very happy to be back in this sedan. It reminds me of the Grand Marquis I use to drive. Comfortable, handles well, minimal road noise. The CVT in my wife's Limited has better pickup, and the Limited has a few more features, but the SEL is good for me. While I might buy a Limited next time, it really isn't that much different.
Almost Perfect - Speaker Upgrade Needed
We just traded in our Taurus for the Five Hundred SEL. It's quite an all around improvement; especially re the luxury aspect. Only one recommendation...you need to upgrade the front speakers. We upgraded with the Polk DBS70 speakers. What a great improvement! It now makes the car really seem like the perfect vehicle. No need to upgrade the rear speakers if you can adjust the fader to output the majority of the volume to the front speakers.

Rides and handles well especially on slippery snowy roads. Mileage is better than expected.
great vacation auto
We just completed a family vacation with our new 500 - what a great car! We averaged 28.5 mpg and the kids (3) were comfortable considering we were in the car for 38 hours. The seats were very comfortable; I drove for eleven hours one day and did not have any aches and pains. We had three large suit cases and a full size cooler in the trunk and room to spare. The only complaint was driving in the mountains - the lack of lower gears was a problem because I was riding the brakes a lot. Otherwise this would make an excellent replacement for a minivan.
Ford 500
I drive the Ford 500 to work and I just love the reliability, and comfort of this vehicle. However, with the gas prices so high, it does make traveling expensive.
