Very Nice Truck
Bought this truck after trading Avalanche with 175K Miles. Like the 5.3 ltr and new 6 speed auto is a nice upgrade. Truck gets average 17 miles combined and 19 to 20 when doing highway driving. LT with allstar package is a nice combination of upgrades. Really like the ride, solid build and comfortable on long trips.
cluncking in low gears
I like my silverado except for one thing. This cars drivetrain ir slipyok will drive u crazy.it bangs underneath in low gears on and off.in traffic on the freeway and taking turns and pushing on the gas.Sometimes a hard clunk.Brought it in twice was told thats normal. come on.whats normal about that.

first new vehicle
I've had many vehicles, but this is the first new vehicle. This one has the chrome package, 20" chrome rims, chrome trim, mirrors, and door handles. I love the looks of it. It now has 4300 miles and am averaging around 17 MPG. The instruments are easy to read, and the controls are easy to reach. The seats are comfortable, the handling is responsive and the ride is pretty smooth. It took a little getting used to the cylinder deactivation as it seemed a little sluggish when accelerating from a stop. However, when you need power, its there. I occasionally pull an 18 foot fiberglass boat and hardly know its behind. All in all a very nice truck, and the rebates made it hard to pass up.
P.O.S.
Never thought a 2012 silverado would be such a down grade from my 2006 ram. both half ton 4x4 4 door, but the silverado rides worse, doesnt respond to throttle input as smooth as the dodge and is a gutless wonder. regretting my purchase i pray a tornado comes and throws this truck as i cant myself.

Bad chevy
I am sorry to say this truck is a beautiful truck but started falling apart at around 90,000 miles 3 outside door handles broke check engine light started coming on and off both front headlights burnt out lever for both front seat reclining broke off and now I am told I have a bad engine nothing but 1 thing after another worst vehicle I ever owned 2012 Chevy double cab Texas edition all the chrome all the bells and whistles beautiful expensive and not worth a crap I bought it 3 years old with 30000 miles on it ok for about a year or so but everything started falling apart starting with the exterior parts you would think a Chevy PU would go the ex mile but don’t be fooled I have had several people tell me the 5.3 instant eco engine was made to save gas but the oil doesn’t get to the back of the engine and causes the engine to go out. Worst purchase I have ever made.

Chevrolet has lost my business
Bought this truck brand new with 5 miles on it from the dealership. Fuel mileage was never as promised, towing and pulling was poor from the start, ride comfort was very good interior is roomy. I have been a Chevrolet customer my entire life , however after my issues with the engine in this truck I will never ever buy another Chevrolet. Truck had 70k miles on it last year, engine oils changed regular, no hard towing was ever done and a lifted goes out in the motor, less than 4 months out of warranty and 30k miles under the warranty and Chevrolet refuses to do anything. 1600$ repair bill later, problem fixed, less than 7k miles later and a lifter on the other side goes out. I AM DONE WITH CHEVROLET! Switching back and forth from 4cyl to 8cyl is horrible, this should be a factory recall issue as I’m far from the only one this is happening to. If I could zero star this vehicle I would.

270,000 miles and going
I love my 2012 Silverado Crew Cab. It’s now 7 years old and has 270,000 miles. Had to rebuild the transmission at 250k but that’s to be expected. I would recommend this pickup to anyone

2012 chevy 1500
worst truck I've ever owned. bought used, replaced motor 2 months after purchase, next summer tranny went out. then check eng light pops on, intake manifold warped due to made of nylon ( plastic). chevy has really gone downhill in terms of quality
No Real Complaints
Bought my 2012 in early 2013 with 5 miles on it. At first I thought it was going to be more truck than I needed as I was mainly looking for a way to get a family of four around with all of our stuff. Salesman gave me a great deal since it was last years model. I have drove 22k miles already. No issues. I get on average 18 MPG. I drive a county road to work for about 35 miles each way up and down hills and around a few bends. Fun to drive. Tires are still good, brakes are fine, no noises. Only after market purchase was a tonneau cover to keep the hockey gear dry and a set of nerf bars so the kids could climb in easier. I plan on having this truck for years
dispointed
i bought a 2012 chevy Z-71 ex cab pick up 2 years ago now. this is the first vehicle i have even been able to buy new. when i drove it off the lot it had 3 miles on it and i was very happy. one of the big selling points was the sticker said it got 21 MPG hwy. the sales man said it got 21MPG. i feel they lied to me. this truck has a 5.3 engine. the truck i had before was a 1995 GMC ext. cab 2x4 long bed with a 350 throattle body injection engine. when that 350 hit 180,000 miles the engine had problems. so i totaly rebuilt that engine and everything was new. that truck even after the rebuild got 15 MPG. so i bought this new one thinking it would be better. but it only get 16 MPG at the best
Satisfied
Very satisfied with my new Silverado except the cloth seat shows and catches lent and you get zapped from static when it's cold and dry
The silverado, compared to other crew cab truck
I owned a Big Ram truck for 10 years before getting the Chevy, and have rented Suburbans, F150's and Expeditions to compare. Hi-oh silver and away, chevy engine and electric transmission both 2WD and 4ED has been awesome, and I really like the AUTO feature that functions similar to AWD, it rules on gravel and dirt roads. If your a regular size (Big and tall driver) person, the cab is a little short, (compared to Ram) and the seats are not as comfortable, but the electric transmission controls are great! (rather than the Vacuum powered Ram cruise and 4WD) Ford has better (on newer models) digital cruise control, the Chevy struggles with keeping speed downhill in the rockies, usually you need to set it 10 miles an hour under where you want to drive to make it work. Chevy's steel bed rules over the Ford F-150, if your going to use for anything other than soft cargo! Ram was easier to get larger tires on for more semi serious off road running around, even on chevy Z71 Sport trim. I wish chevy had a longer warranty as like all GM's I have owned several fiddly bits (sensors) failed during and right after the short warranty period of three years. All my friends have trouble finding the door handle which is low and Black on Black, the on star big mirror blocks some the front lateral visibility, and the newer trucks have better viewing mirrors. I think that the basic 5K more that a Chevy costs over roughly equivalent Rams and Fords is not worth it, unless a wonderful powerful engine and transmission is higher on your list of what you love about trucks!

Expected more from Chevy flagship pickup
I have been a Bowie fan for sometime.Resently purchased a 2012 LTZ. Overall pleased with the truck other than the compleat lack of thought and enginering put into the interior.Too many small items are lacking that one would expect in a $46,000 vehicle. The center console is just 1 big box no pen holders, coin holders, tissue nothing my 2001 gmc had all these,my 2006 malibue has all these( hardly a top of the lineup for gm), No underwood light(although the bracket is there). the Eagle LS2 tires r pretty much a lowend tire for Goodyear.Even my owners Manuel and paperwork was given in pretty much a sandwich bag.Overall I like the truck, but GM needs to stop pinching pennies on a top tier truck.
2012 Chevy Silverado 1500 Best Built truck today!
If you are buying this Silverado w/leather seating, be sure to add heated seats. Had vehicle 3 years now and no unusual repairs other than maintenance.

Paint has dust under clearcoat that is causing bubbles
Bought truck new with 15miles on it on 6/21/12. there is a spot rusting on the roof and two spots on the passenger side of the truck (back passenger door and front fender) that have dust in the clearcoat that is causing a bubble. countaced gm two days after i bought it and been passed from person to person to person and now they want to paint my truck and are telling me quote the finish wont be the same as new and we wont be able to exactly match it. i asked for a new truck which i only think is right and i am getting the run around there customer service people leave alot to be desired!!!
Loved it til electrical problems
I have loved my 2012 Chevy Silverado Crew Cab ever since I bought it brand new. However, since I had my tires replaced, the tire pressure sensor has went off when tire pressure is fine. I took it in or general maintenance and they said they had to recalibrate a sensor and it was good for awhile. Then it came on again and also with it on, my truck will cut off and back on while driving! It is scary and I told the dealership about it happening but they just say there is no recall. I think there is a problem with the electrical system. Of course, they want to charge about $200 to possibly fix it. If they can get it to do what it’s been doing at the time they work on it.

Should have bought a Ford
This is the first time i have ever disliked a Chevy. This truck has no pulling power it strains pulling a empty trailer. It has a hard time pulling a hill with no trailer. It only gets around 14mpg on the rd and about 11 in the city. It want even spin tires on dirt. there is slack in the driveline that you can hear and feel. I bought this truck brand new i was told the mileage and the power would get better, well it has 26k on it and nothing has changed. The next truck i get will def be a Ford. I have never owned or wanted one until now.
Remotelink doesn't work with GM dealer remote start
It was dissappointing to find out only after taking delivery of my new Silverado that OnStar's RemoteLink does not work nor will it ever work with the GM dealer installed remote starter. Both GM and OnStar have assured me that they have no intention now or in the future to ever make the less expensive dealer installed option work with the RemoteLink app for smartphones. From what I can find out, the remote start equipment is installed at the factory but the key fobs are programmed at the dealer through a factory download direct to the vehicle. When you consider that the factory installed remote start option only comes in a higher priced convienence package, I guess it's all corporate greed.
2012 Chevy Silverado
Have a 2012 Silverado crew cab, 4x4, LTZ. Have 1300 miles on it and so far it has been great. MPG is about 16.5 mixed city and hwy. Only complaints so far are that this came with Goodyear Eagle tires and they are horrible. have already slid several times. Why do they put these cheap tires on a $50K vehicle. Also, the interior gauges are somewhat outdated and have not been changed since 2007. Otherwise, I think it will be a great truck.
Great Truck
Own 5 Silverado LTZ-LT-2-LT Z71 all 5.3 V8 cats iron block,s very durable

Low Power Poor Fuel Mileage
I love this truck except for the low end power and fuel mileage. This truck has 305 hp,but it has a torque management system on it.It does not let you have any low end power. After 30 mph it runs great.Dont take any chances and pull out in front of anyone or pull a boat up a steep boat ramp,it want pull it.I only get 13 mpg it is suppose to get 17 to 23 mph. This truck only has 7500 miles on it.Really if i new about the lack of power and bad mileage i would have bought a ford.I dont appreciate gm dictating the power i use on take off.
worst truck ever
chevy should have never put a v-6 in a full size truck its has no power and crappy gas milage and the should feel horrible for selling this truck thought it would be a good buy since i had a s10 with the same motor but this truck is a huge disappointment
Jeff's 2012/1500
It's a 2012 we bought used in 2012. Had about 5000 miles when we got it. It still looks and runs great. Has a little rust starting over the rear wheel wells, but nothing major. It has 57,500 miles on it. I've had no issues with it whatsoever. The model description below is not accurate. My truck is an extended cab (LT) 6.5 ft bed with a 5.3L v8. It's 2wd with a 3.43 rear end. This combination gets about 24.5mpg on the highway @ 70mph. Gas mileage "around town"? Don't ask.

SupyChevy!
Best vehicle I have ever owned!
Chevy Trucks Rock
I have ut most confidence in the Lt or above Chevy trucks...we have 3 of them for personal use...better than a car any day and with active fuel management we get better mileage than friends who have AWD small SUVs with 6 cylinder. Again Chevy Trucks Rock
