The 2004 Malibu is a delight to drive. The 3.5 liter, 200 horse power engine provides more than enough power for hills and passing. The sleek exterior design is attractive and easy to wash.

Cute, but glad I got the warranty

I researched for about two months before purchasing my 2004 Chevy Malibu. I found the Malibu to be the best fit for me, a traveling college bound student. The car its self handles very well and I always have fun driving it. The fuel economy isn't the greatest, at 23 mpg, but not worth complaining about. Shortly after I bought it, I realized the windshield wiper fluid didn't work when the button was pushed and the seat didn't work. I'm having issues with it starting slowly. Although I'm not sure if this is do to the car, or the Cleveland cold weather. My sister got stuck in the passenger side because the door wouldn't open from the inside. Great car, but I'm glad I got the warranty.

New Malibu - First Impressions

Purchased this vehicle last week and have put about 250 miles on the odometer. Chevrolet may have a winner here. Haven't considered a Chevy in 22 years, but it stacked up well against the VW Passat, Honda Accord, and Mazda6 that we also considered. Pushrod V6 provides plenty of power (200 HP) and lots of torque (220 ftlb). Loaded with useful features and plenty of room (101 cu ft EPA passenger space). Averaging over 22 MPG in mostly city driving so far. Chevy's attempt at a "manu-matic" shift lever needs work. 4th gear cannot be selected in manual mode.

I traded a 4 wheel dr veh for this vehicle and have never felt safer. It handles like a dream on snow and ice, and the best part is I'm not afraid to drive in those conditionsm like I was with the 4 wheel drive. The only problem that I have found is opening the trunk when it has snow or ice on it, and it all falls in the trunk. Need a little different design.

Overall satisfaction is high. LT model is loaded with enjoyable extras. Comfort is high for mid-size car. Dealer follow up far above expectations.

Better than your Camry!

I've driven all the midsize sedans. I like the Mazda6, Accord, Altima, and Camry followed by the Galant, Sonata, and Grand Prix. The Malibu is an excellent car. It's an excellent performer that gives up little to Honda and Toyota. The Malibu nearly matches them at being a bread and butter sedan, yet beats them as the value leader. Reviewers, hold American cars to a higher standard than the Japanese brands. The Malibus interior is simple, functional, and the materials are as good an anything the Camry has. Yet the Malibu is criticized while the Camry is praised for it's simplicity. Sure and the Malibu IS as good if not a bit better. Great job Chevy!

I love my new Malibu

I love my new Malibu. I bought it the same time my child bought their Calvalier. We both love our new Chevys. My 2004 Malibu has everything I was looking for in a new car plus some extras like the auto start, without paying too much. I wanted a BMW, but when I really looked at the BMW body from the back it looked like an old Honda, only the front looked different. I couldn't see paying that much for a car that looked like a Honda. The 2004 Malibu has it's own look, it's looks more expensive than it is. It's a beautiful car!!
