A Hidden Gem
It is a comfortable car to sit in and drive. Kudos to Buick for a well thought out vehicle

Very poor engine reliability
Purchased this vehicle (2015 Encore) new in 2015. It is a secondary car that we do not use much. We now have about 49,500 miles on it and the engine is failing. Our Buick dealer said the engine will likely need to be replaced in the near future. Should have checked Consumer Reports earlier. CR gave the Encore its worst score for Major and Minor engine mechanical problems. Am trading it in for a new Prius. At least the Prius has had exceptional reliability for the last 7 model years.

Not dependable
Four months after we bought our used Buick encore it started to backfire and (later learned it could have caught fire) it cost us almost $600 to get it fixed. Then three months after that it started running bad again and had to get it checked out and the coolant housing had to be replaced and it had a vacuum leak. The very next week the engine is racing like something is wrong with either the motor or transmission. We will probably have to get this checked out soon! We are ready to unload this Buick.

Snazzy
I like the look of the encore it’s small and roomy and I like the look of the leather interior. The Turbo gives it a peppy engine
