My 2001 QX4 with 314,000 has gotten as high as 24 mpg in the mountains of Colorado with unoxygenated fuel and as low as 13 in Denver with oxygenated fuel. Right now in mostly city driving its about 15. It's nice to be able to use regular unleaded gas.

Either an Infinity Dealer shop or a Stereo installation guy can get it done for you. They should have a couple small thin bars to pull out the vent unit with the clock then access to the light bulb behind the clock.

Hey, You don't need a repair manual. Do you need to just replace the antenna mast or the whole unit? I had to replace my mast a few years ago and bought from these guys - http://antennamastsrus.com/Infiniti/QX4/Infiniti%20QX4%201997-2003.htm Their site also provides links with instructions on how to do the replacement. It was pretty easy. I know they also sell complete units but have no experience with those. Good luck!

Replacing backup light bulbs on 2001 Infinity QX4

Backup Light Replacement
I have a 2001 Infiniti QX4 SUV. Anyone know how to replace burned out tail light bulb? Removing the two visible screws loosens the tail light assembly but doesn't allow access to the bulb. Mike

I did not fully solve my problem, as I do not have the surplus cash to spend right now. However, I did find a solution from crutchfield that will probably solve your solution. Basically, you just need to replace the head unit, and can keep the speakers and their amps provided that they are still in good condition. Replacement part for the rear air deflector (2001 QX4)
Infiniti does not produce the air deflector anymore. Any ideas on how to get the air deflector? I have called almost every dealership in the tri-state area. Salvage yards do not seem to have it. nikos

QX4 alloy wheel corrosion
I have a 2001 QX4 4WD which shows corrosion signs at one of the alloy wheels. The corrosion is from the inside out. The car has 35k miles and the bumper-to-bumper warranty expired a few months ago. OBDII Code P0420 and P0430.
Took my 2001 QX4 to a local Infiniti dealer to have my catalytic converter looked at due to the OBDII codes P0420 and P0430. Service advisor stated that those codes were attributed to software upgrade for ECU. They reprogramed the ECU and asked me to drive the car for 3 days before reinspection. Hopefully, this will resolve the situation.

I think it sounds like a good deal. Infiniti is a quality product, so high miles doesn't matter unless you want to sell or trade in the near future. I bought a 2001 2wd Q for $20K last September with 58K miles. It now has 80k miles. As far as price...What does Edmunds here say?...and Kelley Blue Book?...And local papers...That could be hard as there are very few around being sold...But that's a lot of miles for a 2001...Even if they got it mid year 2000, when they first came out...I've only got 45,000 in my 2001... Great SUV...Service at Infiniti dealers very good... And, yes, it uses premium gas...And lot's of it...It's only bad part...

Hello, I am about to purchase a 2001 QX4 from an Infiniti dealer with 27,000 miles. Can someone explain to me the 30K maintenance. The dealership did NOT say a word to me about it. Am I going to drive this car off the lot just to drive it back in a month a pay a several hundred dollars for the 30K check. Is it for warranty purposes?

The main differences that I see between the 2 are the cosmetic designs, the service that Infiniti offers versus Nissan, the prestige that comes with driving an Infiniti, and the resale value. Parts Question
The Third Brake Light Assembly on my 2001 QX4 just snapped off and is hanging and banging against my rear window. Can I buy just the assembly brackets or do I have to buy the entire light? QX4 Differences from Pathfinder
I just traded a 2001 Pathfinder for a 2003 QX4. The exterior differences are obvious. Inside you have better leather, better carpet, real wood, heated rear seats, etc. The QX4 is quieter inside and just much nicer. The best part is the Infiniti service. but Infiniti has not released VDC, TC or the tire pressure monitor on the QX4 yet. I would have expected it to show up on the QX4 first. I suspect it is very close to being offered. marsha7...Yes, I too would have preferred 4 wheel disk brakes since I think it achieves better breaking results in most vehicles. The reason why our QX4's have drum brakes at the rear wheels is because the vehicle is based off of Nissan's truck series. Ive been reading that the Nissan Pathfinder will be totally redesigned for 2003 with an increase HP to 260, however there will not be an infiniti qx4 model. I've emailed quite a few Infiniti dealers in several states (NJ, MD, NC, IL, NY) and have listed the options I want (power sunroof, premium pkg, sport pkg) and asked them how much UNDER invoice they were willing to sell me the vehicle. So far, the best offer is $1000 under the invoice price of $34,919. Has anyone found a better deal anywhere?

I questioned two dealers about owner loyalty rebates. It is a hidden rebate. If you have ever leased or owned an Infiniti before, the company gives you an extra $1000. I did not qualify. I recently took in my 2001 QX4 with 4,996 miles for the first oil change. My Michelin tires showed cupping on the front, so a tire rotation was necessary. I have a 2001 4x4 QX4 and like it a lot. I bought mine from Kelly Infiniti, up in Danvers. Ask for Rich Decker(good guy). There's also Herb Chambers Infiniti down in Boston and another dealership in Norwood. I believe all of the locations have QX4s in stock. The QX4 doesn't have a third seat option.

Beyond the comments from mvargo1, you may also want to consider the safety aspects of the SUV. Check out www.nhtsa.gov for crash test. I have a 2000 QX4 for over a year. Other than the horsepower (fixed during 2001) and mileage, the vehicle has had no problems and perfect in every way. The Infiniti Lemon appears to be an anomaly. Everyone else loves their Pathfinder/QX4. Good luck!

Although Nissan/Infiniti builds reliable and dependable vehicles (I won a 2001 PF LE with no problems), they are not immune to have one or two bad apples.
