  i have a 1997 dodge stratus and it has just started getting this annoying problem. When i drive somewhere and everytime i make a stop once my mph gets around 30 the car seems to jerk. it only happens when i break to that speed and when i accelerate it shifts gears perfectly. so i am not quite sure what the problem could be... if anyone could help i would greatly ...   1997 Dodge Stratus w/2.4 non-turbo. Bought this car and on the way home it got hot and would not restart. I have found water in the oil and oil in one of the cylinders. I have pulled the head and might see signs of a head gasket leak, but minor. What else causes LOTS of oil in the water and maybe 1 pint of oil in one cylinder? Dean mail4dean@aol.com

  My 18 year old son has a 1997 Dodge Stratus. The car dies on him when he drives through heavy rain or standing water. This has happened to him on the interstate at high speeds....so dangerous! He is now afraid to drive it when it is raining. Has anyone else had this problem and what can we do about it?

  Does the engine have any oil in it, that model had a known head gasket oil leak. :(

  I am wondering if anyone could tell me what the problem may be with my car... I got to a stop sign and the car shut off for me...I had a friend check it and he said there is no compression to start it... What could the problem be... I don't want to spend a fortune on this car..Thanks

  I have a 1997 Dodge Stratus ES with 55,000 miles and I can't complain about my experience. I haven't had any of the problems described by others (no oil leaks, head gasket problems, or anything like that).
