Used 2015 Volvo XC60 Consumer Reviews
DO NOT BUY!
Hundreds if not thousands of reports of catastrophic engine failures in these cars as they as they age. Volvo has an extended warranty letter circulating out there but they are not standing behind their warranty so you will be out $15-20K. The US government just fined Volvo with one of the largest automotive fines ever for failing to respond quickly to recall vehicles and they would still prefer to take the government fine than to step up and fix their engine problems. That should tell you how bad this problem is. You’ve been warned. Our XC60 is now dead & being held for investigation by NHTSA for catastrophic engine failure that left my daughter sitting on the side of I-95. Volvo’s are structurally safe vehicles, but mechanical reliability is a key component of safety and these vehicles are NOT mechanically safe. Just spend a few seconds researching the terms “Volvo” and “oil consumption” or “Volvo” and “catastrophic engine failure.” It will be enlightening.

First and Definitely Last Volvo
Safety features are outstanding, but after driving car for 2 months, each day is as frustrating as the last in how poorly designed the interior is. Virtually no place to store things. In order to reach something easily (while driving), it has to be in one of the two cup holders. Bluetooth and iPod functionality is unintuitive. I have had to memorize exactly what will work when, which has relieved some of that frustration. Lots of reviewers praise the comfort; it has been more comfortable than Toyota Highlander, but not by much. Most frustrating : the poor service of ONLY Volvo dealer in my area. Not having a choice for service has been a major mistake.

Too many electrical problems
Very uncomfortable the seatbelt is sharp and cuts my neck with no adjustment. I actually ended up with skin cancer in the same spot where the seatbelt rubbed for years. Additionally this car has had electrical problems from the start. Now it keeps breaking down and they don’t know what is wrong. After having the car for 4 years I now have to get another one. I will not buy another Volvo again.

Great SUV
Low head space entering vehicle, beware. Once I got used to that (coming from a roomy Mercedes SUV) I fell in love with it. Smooth ride, lots of bells n whistles, good mpg, easy to handle, and nice on the eyes, a true long haul roadster. I enjoy it more than my former MB.
