Used 2007 Volkswagen Passat Consumer Reviews
Third Passat
This is our third Passat (first a 1993) and it is the best. The car feels like a much bigger and more expense automobile. No problems and only expense is the scheduled maintenance. I alternate between Plus and High Test gasoline and runs great. I was most impressed by the highway MPG. I always get between 31 and 32 MPG with one trip turning in 35. I would recommend changing the oil more often than VW recommends. 10,000 miles seems a little long.
The Wolfsberg Edition Sedan
I've driven Mercedes, BMW, Dodge, Chevrolet, and even a Nissan but this car is the best EVER. It handles like Mercedes, is faster than a BMW, and costs as much as a VW. It is so quiet and comfortable, and it is huge. I'm 6'1" and I can sit in the back seat comfortably. You could by an Audi A4 (Which I consider the only real competitor) but for 2/3 the price, I'll take the Passat. I did buy this new and I have 17,000 Miles now.

Second Passat Same Results
2001 model, 275K, 2nd set of brakes, only repair other than maintenance was tie rod ends. Virtually flawless. Now have a 2007 model, 160K, much stronger engine, fun to drive. No mechanical issues. Biggest issue is the VW dealership in Franklin, TN but the car(s) have been great. Maybe I have been lucky but seriously, no issues. BTW, still on the first set of brakes on the front and second on the rear with 160K. Stepping up to the Audi version with the next car because of the dealership, not the car.
Nice vehicle, but consumes OIL
I purchased this car a year ago. First, I was very satisfied. This car looks and performs well for the money I paid. Since the purchase, Ive been in the service at least 8 times; mostly minor things like lights and radio, but I also had a bigger concern: the oil level goes from max to min in 3K miles. At dealership, they changed some parts including turbo. Still, the problem was not resolved. It took me a year back and forth. Year later, they took a test after 645 miles and determine that 200 grams of oil are gone. They call to VW and after that called me and said that VW says that it is normal. I thought they were joking. They were not.
Practical Performance Family Car
This is a well designed car with balance between safety, roominess, performance, practicality and gas mileage. It has good acceleration except there is a lag at <5 mph. It also has loads of storage. It's much better than driving a minivan.
