German Tecnology Fails on snow
It is not a car for everyone. It's a car that the younger generation will fall in love with just like in the 60's. It's is somewhat of a culture in itself. I get more looks from my fellow drivers than most other cars on the road. VW has kept this car true to original design with many creature features that put a smile on your face from the first day you drive the new Beetle. It is priced well with few opitons and many includes. This car was garaged and not driven for the first year and has been garaged since owned.

Love/hate this Beetle
You'll get a lot of compliments, I.e., your car is adorable, my first car was a beetle, that color (yellow) is amazing, etc. Hard to get into this car...I think it has to do with height of door panel! Fun to drive especially with the top down. My dealer is not so much fun! Terrible service follow-ups. We are trying to decide whether to buy this car or go elsewhere ( better buys)!

Got that bug fever..
I'm the type that usually buys used cars, but with a warranty and from a dealer. Hence, I purchased a 2013 fully loaded beetle convertible 2.0 turbo in January 2018. It was five years old with only 16,000 miles. I paid $16k with a 2 year bumper to bumper warranty. The original sticker was $35k. The best way to drive this car is in manual mode. I have an automatic DSG. When it's in drive mode, it feels bogged down. Driving at 35mph, the transmission is already in 5 gear at of 6 gears. In manual mode you can really feel the turbo and it put a grin on your face...Not the same grin as you'd get with a miata, but it's a very satisfying car to drive. I was impressed with this front wheel drive car this winter. In a snow storm is just plowed through my local snowed filled streets with no issues what so ever. The fender stereo sound is bar none the base sound I've heard in a stock radio. I had an error message when opening the convertible top. However it would always open on the second attempt. Since I have the 2 year warranty, VW Kelly of Danvers MA took care of the issue, free of charge. I'm very happy with my purchase and plan to keep the car for at least the next five years. VW's seem not to have the best reliability reputation, but I've not had that experience. I had a 2009 CC that ran flawlessly until I sold it with 100k miles. Never had an issue and always started up. The CC is a great highway cruiser. I had the V6 engine.

Great with small children
So far, our Beetle is a huge hit with our 5 year old twins. They love riding with the top down and being able to see out the windows (with the help of a booster seat). The car handles great, rides great and is fun to drive. My only dis-satisfaction is that the drivers seat doesn't recline. Of course there's not much backseat leg room, but just enough for the young kids. We haven't had it long, but after just a short while, we began to consider buying a newer model with more bells and whistles.

Best Affordable Convertible
If you stick with the TDI and manual you have a car that'll outlast you. I was honestly worried about the durability of the convertible top but I've had no issues, and the quickness and near silence of the operation is amazing. MPG is by far the greatest thing about the car, cruising down the highway all day at nearly 2,000 rpms while getting 37-52mpgs. You start to feel like you're driving a classic luxury car till you step out.

Mid-life crisis car.
I have kids of driving age. My insurance agent told me I couldn't get a Mustang convertible. So I wound up with a used TDI convertible which lets my insurance people relax. Insurance costs are great. Love it. Runs well and accelerates great. Have not had a single mechanical problem. Fuel mileage wonderful and people grin.. The quickness of the top going up and down is fun. Good for city driving, though I would probably not choose it to drive cross country. Not terribly practical but if we need to haul stuff we have the wife's VW Routan. 2025. still driving the Beetle. Still fun. Still not a single mechanical problem of significance. Love it. My wife now drives a VW Atlas.
