Expensive, but proving worth it so far

I've been driving this for 3 years now and the only problem I've had with it is the coping on the drivers seat breaking. The original Toyo tires were awful and I replaced them at 23,000. Aside from those two things it has been wonderful. Very comfortable, powerful and reasonable gas mileage. I don't like having a car payment (at 0%, though!), but if I'm going to make car payments, this vehicle was worth it.

This is a very roomy and feature packed SUV in Limited guise. It’s reasonably attractive outside, a little less so inside. Toyotas from this time period are all like that I guess. Things I like are the engine power, ease of driving, visibility, seat heaters, large sunroof, rear seat accommodations, storage. Things I think could be improved upon are noise, seat ventilation, seat comfort (I’m tall so take that with a grain of salt), ergonomics, navigation intuitiveness. Also, safety features (particularly forward collision warning), while perfectly functional, are sometimes a bit nervous. One thing I simply do not like is ride comfort. Some bumps cause harsh shudders throughout the cabin, not “Lexus-lite” as Edmunds describes. The Highlander is a competitive SUV that’s great for daily driving and ok for travel. I prefer the Honda Pilot over this, but most drivers should be perfectly content with this. If nothing else, it’s a Toyota, so it should last a long time.

Best vehicle I’ve ever owned!

This SUV with its three rows of seats still has plenary of cargo space for groceries or smaller suitcases. All back seats fold down very easily. This car is incredibly reliable: I’ve only had to replace a battery and had new brakes put on it (and tires). The car is very low mileage and I think I could get another six years out of it! This is our fifth Toyota SUV and we’ve loved every one of them. Other cars we’ve owned: Mercedes sedan and small SUV (would never buy another one) and Volvo X60 (would never have another one).

downsized Sporty looking SUV

We have owned this 2016 Toyota Highlander four yrs. now. So I can talk about all the good and bad things about this Highlander. Toyota has finally figured it out and realized that Americans like their chrome. We had a 2008 Highlander, which I like because it was larger, but was all one color from front to back. No chrome or accents, even some pinstriping to make it stand out from the other suvs. But it was a comfortable, smooth riding suv that i could drive for hrs and not feel tired.. No blind spots, large mirrors and big windshield. Not so with this one. Smaller windshield, smaller interior knobs, sits lower compared to the 2008. But on the plus side. My wife likes the smaller size and is glad Toyota put a large backup camera in the dash, compared to that little thing that you had to squeak at to see where you were backing up to, along with the back up sensors. It is a lot sportier looking, which I do like. Chrome accents around the windows and grille along with chrome in the back. Toyota has done a good job with the safety futures and will only get better as time goes by. Why Toyota has so few color options other then white, grey or black is beyond me. I like the fact that Toyota is building most of it's popular vehicles here in the United states. Like it or not, Toyota has one of the highest quality control demands of any automaker. That's why Camry is the number one car sold in the United States. This is our third Toyota. Had a 1999 4 Runner with over two hundred thousand on it and never even put brakes on it, then a 2008 Highlander. Drove it one hundred and ninety thousand, and again, next to no repairs, so of course we went with another Toyota. I also drive a big GMC Yukon Denali suv which is a great riding suv, but can't afford to drive it to much at sixteen mph. Not a cheap ride compared to twenty three mph with the Highlander. Just wish that the older Highlanders from 2008 to 2013 had the safety features and chrome accents that the newer Highlanders have. But I do like this one and would buy again with their proven track record for reliability. These things will go an easy three hundred thousand if driven properly.
