Used 2008 Toyota Highlander Consumer Reviews
LOVE my new Highlander
Due to an upcoming move to upstate NY I needed to trade in my 2006 VWPassat for a 4-wheel drive vehicle. We were looking at 4-runners, Honda Pilots and Suburu Outbacks. I originally felt that the Highlander looked too much like a van (from the inside) and did not even want to test drive it, but after a week of looking around I agreed to try it. Needless to say it was a fabulous test drive and I could not be happy with the ride of the 4-runner or the Honda Pilot. The Outback is a great drive as well but for the money you get a lot more vehicle with the Highlander. I have had it for a week now and my husband and I both love it.
Great SUV with so so fuel economy
This is my first toyota SUV, traded in my older Camry. A smooth and powerful V6 engine, quiet and comfortable ride, nice interior layout and romminess. excellent build quality. But strong engine vibration when cold start, eventually will gone after engine warm up. need to bring back to dealer to check up. Steering and handling are secure but not sound. Fuel economy only so so, I'm conservative drive and try to lite on gas. I only get around 15 mpg mix driving. Rear door hatch is heavy to open and close. Overall is a very nice SUV with some negative.

Comfortable and Safe
I learned how to drive in this car. It's very comfortable for daily driving and on long trips as long as you're not sitting in the 3rd row. It drives great and does well enough on gas. It's a very safe car also. I owe my mothers life to the safety features in this car. Not many people can walk away from hitting a grove of trees at highway speeds. Great SUV for a family!
This is a keeper!
We bought the base model, which is where the value is. It's the same car as the much more expensive version without the overpriced dvd player, blue tooth and GPS (we have our own for that one time a month we need it). This car is clearly superior in features to the 2008 Honda Pilot which drives like a truck to both me and my wife. It replaced a Honda Odyssey but still has the ability to seat 7 people comfortably (and looks way cooler!). We love it!!
2008 Toyota Highlander Sport AWD
Drove the Lexus RX and GMC Acadia - dollar for dollar the best of the group. Interior build far surpasses the GMC product and is similar to the Lexus in build quality. Standard V6 provides good acceleration with AWD providing good traction in wet road conditions. Second row seats fold down easily providing amble room for hauling miscellaneous items. Sound system includes six disc CD changer, MP3, and adequate speaker support. The dashboard is perfect with attractive well thought-out design. Good head room, leather seats provide good lumbar support. 19 inch wheels add a great finishing touch to what is a great redesign of an already proven intermediate size SUV.
