Used 2008 Toyota Highlander Consumer Reviews
Not happy with Toyota
After doing a lot of research we purchased our 2008 Sport Highlander just three weeks ago. After two weeks of driving it we started to hear a noise when we would accelerate the car. (Mind you it only has 750 miles on it). Long story short we took it in to be checked out and found out we need a new transmission!!!! We are not happy and now doubt the reliability of our car.
Pig. It falsely capatilizes on the Rav 4 fame,
In spite of all the gushy comments stay away. The car is a pig to service. Knobs that simply fall off to brake dust shields that cost 391.00 instead 16.98 dollars. It is an overpriced pig

DEATHTRAP on Wheels 2008
Where to begin.... Recall notices... have received enough to kill an entire tree! Good luck in Snow/Ice, just aim for something soft... AWD my @$$, a rear wheel drive taxi cab with two flat tires has better snow performance than this "SUV"! Tire Pressure Issues... every 2-3 weeks the light comes on and at least one of the four tires is low (@24-26psi) For the first time in my life I pray for someone to steal my car and park it on the railroad tracks! It is disgraceful to call this thing a Toyota!
Toyota is NOT all that
I got this 08 Highlander in 10 from my aunt with 9K miles on it, still smelled new and dealer maintained (oil change, tire rotation) I got rid of this dog in 2015, great trade in as I got what I asked for it (unbelieveable) but I'm still burned about it. This car was a hot mess. Body rattles, transmission shift-float problems (FINALLY shifted normally after dealer performed a software recall for the brakes. Yes, the brakes) oil hose leak (they fixed that) but worst of all was the 'Highlander startup rattle' Look for it, there's many examples out there. To fix it, the engine had to be practically disassembled and it cost a fortune. I brought it to the attention of three stealerships, all said 'couldn't duplicate problem' in spite of my video which captured it on cold start. Still well within warranty, not one dealer owned up to the TSB and they all KNEW IT. The transmission shift problem (turned out to be software) was said to be 'normal' as it was a truck transmission (it's not) and they all do that (they don't) Even knowing that I knew a lot about cars, they still boldly lied to my face. Toyota quality? Bul....it. Never will I buy another. They're all the same. you get a good one of... whatever it is, keep it.

Better than Pilot
I love everything about it! Went from a 2006 Honda Pilot EXL and have to say this car is a much better design completely. I have a loaded sport model minus the nav. The captain's car make 3rd row usable. Couldn't live w/out power tailgate and back up camera now. I love love love how the extra seats folds away! On average I get 23.8 mpg better than my pilot. Accessories are cheaper than Hondas surprisingly. More bang for the buck than pilot all the way around! Sticker was 37k more than comp. Pilot but after rebate and wheelin' and deal'n got for 28K. The deals are out there just got to find them! Fun to drive mom car w/out looking like the soccer mom van but still very functional!!
