Used 2006 Toyota Highlander Consumer Reviews
highlander tires
The highlander is an extremely reliable car. My first was a 2002 with no problems and the second is a 2006 model that I've had for 10 months and so far so good.
Most Reliable Vehicle I Have Owned!
We bought our Toyota Base model in 2007. Although it is a Base model, it came with leather seats front spoiler and a rear spoiler, but this one doesn't have 3rd-row seats. It has the 3.3 motor. It is our 'work horse'. We use it for everyday driving, holiday travelling and hauling tools and lumber for small work projects. It is very comfortable to drive and gets good mileage. I have owned several Toyotas over the years, as well as many foreign and domestic brands. This one it the most reliable of any vehicle I have ever owned. It is now 18 years old and has a few minor rust spots, but with regular maintenance, I expect it will last many more years and many more miles. I am very pleased with this vehicle.

So Far - So Good
Although I have not had the HL for very long, I know I made the right choice. I was previously considering the CRV and new RAV4, but the HL flat out blows them into the weeds in terms of comfort and utility. The Limited Model with leather seats and a few other options is basically a Lexus 330 for $12k less. Toyota is aggressively pricing these puppies. Materials and workmanship seem excellent. Sound system is very good. I needed one totally practical vehicle in the line-up and the HL nails it!
Nice SUV, but the newer model is nicer
We purchased a 2006 Highlander to replace our 2000 Blazer. We chose to go with the Highlander because we wanted improved fuel economy, but still with a V6/4WD combination. We also were impressed with the safety ratings on the Highlander. Now, the Blazer was OUTSTANDING in the snow, and only time will tell if the Highlander will do well in the snow too. The power delivery from the V6 was better than I expected, but having also test-driven a 2008 model (expensive) it lags in comparison. The transmission is seamlessly smooth, and the suspension in the Sport package makes the vehicle more fun to drive. The third row really only provides adequate room for children, but it is nice to have.
Ex-Jeep owner
Love my Toyota. Used to own 4 Jeep Grand Cherokees over the years, but quality and customer service deteriorated over the years. Purchased a Lexus GX 470 for the wife and loved it. Purchased a Highlander for myself. Nice how that works huh? After 47,000, no issues, just changed the engine oil every 5,000 miles, transmission fluid and tires. I will stick with the Toyota family of cars/trucks for good.
