Used 2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Consumer Reviews
Best car I ever had
I own a Mercedes, a BMW 525i, and now the Hybrid Highlander, and the latter car just may be the best car I ever owned. This car is so quiet, even with the engine running, unless you have the engine monitor up you can't tell when the engine is running. Completely silent all the time. But best thing is acceleration-- better than the gas model. Torque not a problem, the traction motors on AWD model wind up as quickly as the battery/engine allow them to, quicker than an engine alone. No rattles, no defects, the navigation system is fantastic. I am still terrificly excited about this car.
Overpriced, poorly built
I am not impressed with my purchase. I get 24mpg in town which is horrible. I have had some issues with my power window motors that have been dropping. They don't build them like they used to.

No Fuel Economy Here
Major disappointment when it comes to gas mileage. After 7,000 miles I can only average 24.8 mpg vs the 30+ stated by the dealer. This Highlander is maxed out with all the options and we love it. The navigation system is great as are the rest of the toys. Wood trim sets it off just right. Performance and handling is excellent. We were truly expecting the 30+ mpg with a hybrid and are very disappointed with this one item. Other than that, it's a great little vehicle.
I like it !
With 3600 miles on the vehicle, and about 6 weeks of ownership, my experience so far has been great. Gas mileage overall is 27.8 mpg, combined highway and city, and still increasing. Acceleration is strong, lots of torque, which surprises passengers and other drivers. This vehicle GOES. It's quiet, sure-footed, maneuverable, although some torque steer under heavy acceleration. The CVT transmission is always in the "right" gear, which is great for mountain driving. Regenerative braking limits brake heating and wear coming down long hills. Getting into the third row seats does require some agility. Retractable headrests help driver's vision out the rear.
A very useful Ute
Outstanding performance, will tow my boat. The Hybrid features make sense for me. I have dreamed of a system that preserves the investment I make in kinetic energy (mass times velocity squared) into potential energy to reuse. Perfect.
