I inherited this car a few months back, literally owned by a little old man. Four cylinder is sluggish from the start, but comes alive once it is rolling. Transmission seems well suited to make the most of 2.4 liters. Body style and interior are plain but functional. Actually, the body style grew on me.

1st day I drove it home I felt alignment problem. After 6 visits, no fix. 4th set of front tires. Toyota reps were RUDE and told me to turn up radio & ignore pulling!! Cust. svc. was NO help. Went to arbitration, waste of time. Rain pours in if window opened a crack. ABS kicks in ALL the time. Seatbelt locks up when I stretch to look for cars coming. Can't see cars coming when I turn my head. Chips EASY. I am more than disappointed. I thought Toyota had an excellent rep., and I've been ONLY disgusted with dealership, customer service, and still having alignment problem!

Extremely unhappy Camry owner

The transmission has slow response time and when slowing and gearing down the car actually lunges, the vehicle has long braking time and is very unresponsive until pedal is pressed nearly to floor and road handling and tire grip is poor. Steering wheel position is high and seats are not deep enough for comfortable ride. Lumbar on passenger seat is uncomfortable. Window and rear door posts make side viewing difficult because of width. Trunk and gas door latches are difficult to access when seat is forward for person of shorter stature. Cruise control lever and buttons are awkward and not user friendly. Center console height is too low for comfortable elbow rest during long drives.

This was my second toyota purchase. The best decision I made. I love my Toyota Camry, my first was a Corolla, I drove it for 186,000 miles. I will continue to drive Toyotas. My parents own the Avalon. It has just enough get up and go, floats, handles the road with ease when traveling. Love the mileage with gas prices rising, overall performance is GREAT!

If you think you need a vehicle and keep it for the next ten or more years with minimum repair cost, buy a Camy.
