Used 2001 Toyota Camry Consumer Reviews
Good Car
This car never failed me in mechanical ways. The tires that they give have no grip at all. On snow and rain you slide all over the place. I wish they had ABS optional. Also traction control wil be nice. If it had two of those options this car will be perfect for the price and quality of the car.
Toyota Camry Not A Toy
My Toyota Camry is 15 years old, I'm the second owner. I can only say good things about this car, the engine is so quiet you can hardly hear it. If you maintain a vehicle it certainly will pay off.

Best car I ever owned
Bought used from the dealer with 36,000 miles on it. Just turned 340,000 miles. The only maintenance done since I bought it was oil/filter change every 3,000 to 5,000 miles, timing belt and water pump every 100,000 miles, radiator replaced at 337,000 miles, oil seals at 240,000 miles, one battery and two sets of sparkplugs/wires replacement, and driver side window motor. I get 28 mpg in the city and 32+ mpg on the highway. I've driven cross country several times, off road in the woods, and in all weather and never had a problem. Haven't touched the transmission at all and no problems. Great car all around. Just turned 368,000 and had to replace one of the ignition coils. Other than that, still runs great.

Disappointed
I bought the car based on everything I had read and was almost immediately disappointed. Handling on the base model was very sloppy, Steering was non responsive. It floated all over the lane at highway speed. Brakes were poor. I traded it in at 10,000 miles.
My Poor Mans Lexus
I've owned two Camry models so far.The first was a 98 v6 manual that I LOVED. It gets totaled of course. So, I went out and bought the same car but newer: 2001 v6 manual LE model. It's got comfortable leather seats, sunroof that looks slick when tilted, and a nice wood trim package. It feels like a Lexus ES. Here's the best part. ITS PAID OFF. I'm in college, so I dont have alot of money. I wanted a little style, performance, and reliability without a monthly note. This car was the answer. I got style and comfort with the wood trim, leather, and 25% tint, performance with the workhorse v6 that surprising powerful with a manual shift, and reliability that is the best. Bought the car for 2 grand with 153k, drove it everywhere, including 1000 miles on a road trip. Only needed a few average repairs for its age, which were cheap. Engine/transmission bulletproof. Buy one of these if your a student, or if you dont have alot of money but want a paid-off reliable vehicle that has some style.
