Hard-to-beat Value
Avalon # 4.... Great, comfortable, dependable, good travel car. Each year, some of the extras are removed such as door pockets, rear seat pockets and small trim which make the car less premium but still more for the money than a Lexus.... Regular gas, and never owned a Toyota that used any oil.

A comfy ride!
Not used, purchased as ‘17s were coming in. My 3rd Avalon. I really like the sculptured lines, great looking car. Best of all it continues as a rock solid vehicle. I don’t put a lot of miles on a car & sell or trade because I want a new car. But these Avalon’s are so reliable & offer great value at thousands less than A Lexus. Can you imagine getting 30 mpg on the road w/cruise set at 78? All the while riding in comfort with a great stereo & a full house of the latest safety features. On the downside they could do a better job w/electronics. GPS & other touch screen items are not as intuitive as they could be. Voice recognition requires you to be a diction coach. But these problems are far outweighed by the quality, ride & performance of the car. A great performer at a reasonable price if you’re into full size sedans in a semi-luxury package. Car is now 6 yrs old w/only 30k miles. I was going to buy a new one but these prices are crazy. Plus getting 30mpg on the road & 23-25 in mixed driving. Other than battery replacement it’s rock solid. So probably some new tires & details. Unless I get itch for last Avalon w/hybrid motors! 40! Plus mpg? Are you kidding me?

Surprising Ride
i did a 5,000 mile road trip and this car is our primary daily driver so I can give more than an initial impression now. Again ours is a limited hybrid not the V6 (my wife insists on high mpg). Driving thru Montana and Idaho at 90+ I can say the car did fine. I wouldn't want to race an NSX but even at those speeds I was getting 39 mpg which continues to surprise me for a car this size. The road feel is solid and the handling while not precise still has a hint of German influence. The steering however will not remind you of a German car but , more of an old Avalon. Having the hybrid does limit trunk space which can be a problem if you are taking a long road trip with four adults and ladies who like to pack for all occasions. The voice recognition is good but I still find it struggles with street addresses. It's fine for basic commands and phone pairing is easy. I am a fairly sophisticated user in that I often have two phones and an iPad that I switch back and forth on. I also stream Spotify, audio books and my iTunes library if you aren't media intensive you probably won't notice the system limitations. Apple play and updated apps would be appreciated. I would have preferred an even more upscale audio system but I understand that it's a Toyota not a luxury brand. The safety features are very good and while I initially thought I wouldn't use them I find I miss them when I am driving my other car. In fact I will trade that car (2012 Edge limited) in sooner than expected to get these features on my other car. From a maintenance perspective we had one issue that was a faulty LED strip in one of the front headlights. It took a couple of weeks to get the part but it was not a hassle. Fit and finish seems good and overall the materials are nice depending on what you are comparing them too. Are they A8 or Continental grade no but this vehicle sells for a fraction of the cost of those .

Very impressed!
Bought my Avalon used two months ago with 50,000 miles on it...so far have already put 3,000 miles on it. Love the mixture of power and performance for a car like this. Really surprised. Also really surprised at the excellent fuel economy (averaging 31.4 mpg). Things I’m not crazy about — Interior is “creeky”. Lots of plastic creeks. Shiny metal plastic trim looks cheap. Radio is a DISASTER in terms of dropping calls - read the reviews, it’s a Toyota embarrassment. It’s frustrating. Seats aren’t very comfortable and the steering wheel just looks weird...it’s bulky, it’s shaped funny, it’s not attractive. I know that sounds weird but it’s true. Other than that I love it, I really do. Kind of “boring looking”, probably because mine is silver, but I don’t mind that. Oh, and I get made fun of because it’s an “old person car”, but it doesn’t drive like one. Love how HUGE this thing is inside. And quite honestly this may be the easiest car you’ll ever drove. It’s just so easy to drive - there’s no learning curve - it just feels the right size, the right steering effort, brake effort, power and handling. It’s really a driver’s car.

Love my Avalon better than Lexus
This is the second Avalon I have owned. I bought a Lexus the last time but chose the Avalon Limited over the Lexus ES 350. Better ride than Lexus. Love the interior and the power it has.
