Used 2006 Toyota Avalon Limited 4dr Sedan (3.5L 6cyl 5A) Consumer Reviews
It's About Time!
This Avalon (Limited) for '06 in no longer the "poor man's Lexus" . It's my preference over Lexus AND Acura RL, both of which are waaaaay overpriced in my opinion. Quick on the trigger, and smooth in the saddle!
Traded up from 05 Prius
I know it seems strange to trade off the Prius for a Avalon Limited, after all there is no comparison in gas mileage, but it all comes down to personal needs. I am retired and the days of commuting to work are over. My wife and I do travel and drive long distances, consequently I prefer the power (especially for steep highway grades), comfort, stability and security the Avalon gives me. I definitely can do without the "Laser Cruise Control" & "Remote Engine start", saving about $1100. By the way the Prius is still a excellent car,for local and flat land driving. I have set my goal for a Prius 08 which I hope will have some improved features, but will still keep the Avalon.
my experience
This is my first Toyota, and if it keeps on doing what it is doing now (gas mileage 32.2MPG, fun to drive, comfort, very reliable etc. I will have to say it needs a trim molding on the lower door panels to keep other car doors from denting when it is parked in parking lots.
Everything you need...
This car has everything you need, and not much you don't. It is smooth, quiet, responsive, and has the little extras that make it a pleasure to drive. As with any car, you can find faults, but Toyota hit its mark integrating the elements of an expensive lexus in a reasonably priced package. Drivers will need to take a little time to learn the navigation system and make the adjustments for seats, lights, etc., but after that, it's a quiet comfortable ride in a well- handling car with power when you need it.
very pleasant car
Being 6'4 and having had a couple of knees replaced, I needed to move into a larger car than my '02 Passat. The Avalon is very pleasant - everything works well, I average around 27 MPG in mostly hwy driving on midgrade. The car's unbelievably quiet - you just cannot hear the motor! Rear seats have reclining back and tons of leg room (I wish some of it was in front - I have really long legs!) Acceleration, handling adequate, but not exceptional. What is exceptional are the brakes - no fade, great pedal feel. Optional equipment - nav, JBL radio, very good; XM is worth it. center console design is very clean, and controls are pretty intuitive
