Used 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek Consumer Reviews
CVT Failure and Poor Customer Care
I bought my 2015 Subaru Crosstrek brand new. I brought my baby home from the hospital in it a month later. I loved this car and as a full time single mom trying to do the best for my child, it means everything to us. It's our freedom, how we get to therapy and ballet and birthday parties. This is a car filled with love. I’m extremely disappointed in Subaru’s refusal to provide any support or assistance for their transmission failure. My vehicle is well within the 10 year timeframe, and while I understand the warranty has a 100,000 mile cap, the average American drives 14,263 miles per year, meaning after 10 years the average vehicle would have 142,630 miles. I maintained this vehicle responsibly and expected more from a company that claims to stand behind the longevity of its vehicles and "love" for their customers. Subaru has a well-documented history of CVT issues across multiple models, which is why I opted for the extended warranty in the first place. To deny coverage for a known issue, especially so soon after the inaccurate mileage cutoff, feels like a failure to take accountability. It sends a message that Subaru’s commitment to customer loyalty and product integrity ends the moment a vehicle crosses an arbitrary odometer threshold, regardless of circumstance. I chose Subaru because of its reputation for durability and customer care. This experience has severely damaged my trust in the brand, and I will not be considering a Subaru vehicle in the future.
