Convertible sports cars are fun!
The 968 Cabriolet is a hoot! It has great styling, goes when you step on the gas, and handles like it is on rails. It also has a practical side with a reasonable trunk (enough for a couple bags of golf clubs), and some storage space behind the seats. The 968 is well built and reliable. It was great as my every day driver. The engine seems bullet proof and runs as well with 100k miles as it did when I got the car.
Classic Porsche
The porsche 968 represents one of the last of the front engined water cooled Porsches. This car has unique styling (only 12000 were built world wide) My 12 year old car is often confused with that new Porsche. The 3 liter 4 cylinder power plant puts out some serious power, but the ability to garnish more is limited. Whether a daily driver or a garage queen the 968 is an awesome car to drive.

'93 with 53,000 as of 4-06
This car has been very reliable and good fun. I have had no big suprises. My top is now manual. I had a Promax chip installed. That really helps the low end torque, it helped the top end too! Mustang 5.0's don't like it! The Porsche club is great. My dealer service has been fine. I've had it for three years and don't plan to sell it anytime soon.
968 Cabriolet
This is my second Porsche. My first, a 928S. The 928 is a more powerful and more luxurios sports car. However, I prefer my 968 because of its agility, design, handling and its practicality. My 968 cabriolet is a 1992 model and is still a head turner some 12 years later. This car was always on my wish list. I saw it in the back while passing a dealership one night and just had to have it. The next morning I took the day off from work and was there before opening with $$$. To all prospective 968 owners: if you are looking for an affordable, reliable Porsche this is the car to get. Sorry guys mine is not for sale. "Porsche There is no Substitute"
Lot of Porsche for the Money
My requirements were ragtop, under 20k, ability to do some maintenance myself, good performance couldn't be something you see everyday, and it had to have head turning ability. The 968 Cab fit the bill in every way.....very low production numbers, excellent handling and speed, a very religious following, and turns more heads than anything else I was looking at because there are so few on the roads. Hope you find something that puts a smile on your face every time you turn the key.
Fantastic Handling, a Superb Sports - GT
The 968 is one of the great "secrets" of the Porsche world. It's fast, reliable, comfortable, even reasonably economical (> 20 mpg), and most of all blessed with _superb_ cornering. The twisty-road handling is so agile and graceful that it's easy not to realize how fast you're going. It has the precision feel of a surgeon's scalpel; a Corvette feels heavy and clunky in comparison. Another fun aspect: the 968 is one of the rarest Porsche models, so few people know what it is. It's a gorgeous car and people realize it's something exotic, it's fun to watch them try to figure out what it is. Watch out for people driving erratically while they cruise by staring at your 968 (not kidding).
Great Value
I've owned my 1992 Porsche 968 Cab for three years. Nothing has broken, I've only had to do the normal upkeep. Its build quality is much better than my Mercedes Coupe's! I installed a Promax chip for better torque. It really helps, especially in traffic with the AC on. I purchased it with about 42,000 miles, now it has about 53,000. Its radio was really bad and the top makes a little too much wind noise, but what a car! And yes, the girls do take notice!
Great Car
This is a great car, fun to drive, nice performance, good fuel economy, and very reliable.
968 excellence
The 968 is a thinking man's supercar. If you want more than just blistering straight-line acceleration, as well as an exotic sports car at a bargain price, this is the car for you.
Porsche 968 Cab
I couldn't think of a better used Porsche to purchase! The 50/50 front to rear weight ratio makes for astounding turning/handling capability. I would buy another! Actually, I found one with very low mileage, and did buy it. Wonderful car, with great gas mileage. 20-21 in town, and 25-29 on- the-road at 80 MPH. And people can't quite figure out what it is, so you get a lot of questions, and people talking to you at stop lights. Great fun! And don't forget to join the Porsche Club of America after you buy.
I love my 968!
I bought my 92 Porsche 968 about 9 years ago. I have no regrets. Being a mechanical engineer, I appreciate the design, the handling, the acceleration, the brakes, the fuel economy and the fun to drive nature of this car. I did not baby this car and drove it nearly every day except when I had a knee operation. It has 102,000 miles on it and still runs great. It looks good and I don't plan on selling it anytime soon.
Not a better car out there!
Can't get much more fun out of this car. Fantastic reliability! Driving through the mountains and canyons regularly couldn't be a better choice. Fun, Fun, Fun!

Porsche 968 Cabriolet
The 968 is an excellent car. It has reasonable get up and go, and corners as if on rails (good tires are important). A stiff suspension benefits the handling characteristics, but this leads to a bit of a harsh ride. It's quality and reliability are excellent (exceeded my expectations). As far as sports cars go, it is among the most practical, with plenty of interior room and a reasonably sized trunk such that the car is good for every day needs.
One of the Best Cars Ever Made
This is one of the best Porsches ever made. It is rock solid. It is fun to drive with its 6-speed transmission. You must try one to understand. It is sad they don't make one like this anymore.
Everyman's dream car
My '94 968 coupe, shipped from Florida to Southern California, replaced an '88 924S that gave me 360K miles before some kid with the ink still wet on his license rear-ended me and totalled it. That car absorbed the jolt and I'm convinced it saved my life. The 968 is the ultimate evolution of the 924, and if there is is better handling, more fun-to-drive automobile on the planet it has to cost 10 times what you'll pay for a 968, assuming you can find one. Repairs are costly, but then again, things seldom break. If there isn't an independent shop specializing in old water-cooled Porsches nearby, think twice about buying. If there is, go for it! IMO, best-looking car ever.
TOP DOWN FUN
4th Porsche owned and love this one the most. 911 is more fun to drive but this is a perfect combination of design, performance and fun.
It's a Porsche
Put some stickies on this car, clean it up and go! Better than most drivers, really a civilized track car. If you can hit the apex the car will reward over and over. Needs regular, and expensive maintenance. Figure $2000 every 10,000 miles routine stuff, and another $3000 for whoops.
