Used 2014 Nissan Frontier Consumer Reviews
Not a bad midsize truck
This vehicle is a little uncomfortable after 100 miles of highway driving. Very stiff ride on local roads. Very wide turning radius for this size truck. Gas miles overall was about 18 mpg. UPDATE 1.26.2020 Sold the Nissan and purchased a 2019 Honda Ridgeline

Manual midsizes, a lonely club
I chose the Frontier over the Tacoma, because the Frontier is 5% smaller but with a larger bed, and a larger engine with better economy. It's also noticeably a few years fresher in design. I got the temporarily-discontinued PRO-4X with 6sp manual, which had to be shipped from Oregon to Nebraska. The 6sp is a lot of fun, but the reverse gear is hard to find and should have been to the left like German autos. The tailgate extender is nice because it's easy to remove. The bed divider is functional but a bit obnoxious in that it's not an easy one-side affair to move or get out of the way. Love the step rails and tie anchors. The ambient temperature sensor is occasionally disfuntional and I had an oil leak fixed in a gearbox plug. It's economy is disappointing, but I think he'll last me until electric trucks come out.

Done with Nissan
I purchased my 2014 Nissan Frontier Pro 4x brand new 01/11/14. I have 53,567 miles on it already and will tell you this, never buy Nissan! on board computer-junk, locks up, loses connection with my phone, and the whole "pay attention to the road" sign could not be more irritating! I drive mostly highway, on cruise control...I have NEVER seen 21 MPG EVER!! The most important factor in selecting this vehical. They somehow neglect to inform you when you purchase the truck of all the mileage related "maintenance" that needs performed. In the 15 months I have owned the truck the dealers have soaked me for over $2000.00!! REALLY!!? I still need tires! I now have 110000 on the truck. The computer is still junk, and they want $150 to upgrade the map. I haven't gotten the 100000 maintenance yet and my wallet is terrified. The serpentine belt is squealing quite loudly, and with all the internal fluids that will I'm sure "need changed" I have no doubt a $1000+ bill is in my future. I put a 3" lift and 33" tires on the truck. With the bad, I will say the good; I can't get it stuck. I also highly suggest a cold air intake system, it really helped increase power.

driving off into the sunset
Maybe could be better on fuel. Off road the Pro4x is alright. Jeep wrangler is better. But for the most part not a bad truck

Desert Runner owner four years
After my 2012 Frontier SV was totaled in 2013, I bought a new 2013 Frontier Desert Runner in Knight Armour color. My 2012 protected me well in the crash when I was rear ended and pushed into cars in front of me. Nissan Frontiers in their current configuration are a dated platform. Their last major redesign was in 2004. However, Nissan has worked out the bugs and they are very reliable. I never had a single issue with mine. I drove it hard at work, averaging about 15,000 miles per year mixed driving. The truck was fairly comfortable. Visibility was good - the back seat headrests do block some to the rear. It did not have a backup camera. Interior noise was slightly on the loud side with wind, tire hum (I had all terrain tires), and nice exhaust tone being prevelant. It is an old school truck so I didn't expect car like comfort. My complaints are that it had a very wide turning radius. Tight parking lots were a chore. The brake feel was squashy even when new. Fuel economy was poor. I averaged 18.8 mpg, partly because of the all terrain tires. My friend got a new F150 and was kicking my butt on fuel economy. The Frontier had good power and acceleration however. I towed a light trailer with it some and it pulled great. I traded the Frontier recently for a 2017 Tacoma. I would have considered another Nissan, but there is almost no difference between the 2017 Frontiers as the 2012 I had. The Tacoma has updated features and better fuel economy. Overall I would recommend Nissan Frontier for anyone needing a no frills truck. I still like the styling of them and you get a tough truck for the money.
