Nissan Altimas are very reliable vehicles. I just purchased my 8th one. You get the luxury of the Maxima, but at half the cost.

I have the Altima SV, quietest and smoothest drive I’ve experienced with great pickup. The sound quality is excellent. Would recommend apple car play over the more finicky android car play.

A car that treats me like an adult.

With safety features all the rage, the notices can become overwhelming to the point of annoyance. So I was happy to discover that some notices can be turned off, like lane departure. Yes, I am changing lanes, I don't need a lane departure notice for that! Off it goes! The anti-front collision warning is exactly that - a warning. This is good since I've driven rental cars with active front collision avoidance that activate the brakes and/or disable the accelerator when some idiot pulls into my lane and I try to drive around him. Some notices require that I push a button on the streering wheel to make it go away. That can get annoying. It is odd that for a car with so much to offer in terms of features, it did not come with a display mode that would show me the average and instantaneous Miles Per Gallon. The gas fillup warning turns on at 75 miles from empty. I would have preferred it be at the 50 mile mark with an icon on the dashboard, rather than a warning that needs to be acknowledged, and once acknowledged, reduces to an icon on the dashboard. I sought out some of the creature comfort features that are on this model: heated seats, heated steering wheel, remote start and keyless entry. All of these are desirable since I live where it snows. The keyless entry / engine immobilizer were items missing from my former car. Cruise control is nice but a bit confusing to use. Moonroof is meh. Since the glass in the moonroof cannot be tilted up from the rear to improve airflow, I don't see the appeal. The back-up camera and the blind spot warnings are nice touches. The controls on this car are a nice balance of manual controls and touch screen controls. Most entertainment related controls are on the 7 in, I think, touchscreen. The A/C, heating, heated seats, heated steering wheel, temperature setting and fan speed are all controlled with knobs or rocker switches. No need to drill down to some sub-menu on the touch screen to adjust the blower speed. I like the 2.5L engine, but the CVT transmission that it is mated to makes performance sluggish. I manage about 32 mpg around town. Thankfully, this car does not use stop-start technology, which I find tiring after a while. Handling is excellent. This car really hugs the road with minimum swaying during turns. My car came with an emergency spare tire - a donut. A 90 day trial of SiriusXM was included, but I doubt I will subscribe. The SiriusXM app would display ads and try VERY hard to get me to join contests to the point of controlling the app screen. Some of the recommended channels were just weird. In my opinion, this is unacceptable, so I ended up uninstalling the app after 2 weeks. The satellite radio experience in the car is much better unless you're driving under a bridge or driving next to a tall building, then the audio is interrupted. Overall, I am pleased with this car.

Really super nice car, MPG is outstanding, smooth quiet ride, SR trim has plenty of options to satisfy most drivers. Don’t let the negative reviews fool you, this car is not a sports car but has ample power for the everyday driver. Regarding reliability, if you take care of it with regular maintenance and drive responsibly it will serve you well for many years.

As good as my last 2020 Altima

My last 2020 Altima was the best auto I have ever owned and this new 2022 is every bit as good. One improvement I liked was the change to a manual rear view mirror. The earlier version had a slower reacting electronic LCD dimmer when the bright lights hit, and was not dark enough to shield my eyes. Now with a snap of my finger the mirror darkens immediately, and makes night time driving easier. Gas mileage is fantastic from the standard 4 cylinder front wheel drive combo, with plenty of power to cruise at high speeds. I highly recommend this auto to anyone who enjoys the sleek design and great handling of this auto.

California 18 from Lucerne Valley to San Bernardino might be the ultimate road test, and an Altima SL 2.5 passed with the cement plant at 60mph with flying colors. Decsending to San Bernardino the Altima held the road firmly. The seats were supportive around the nonstop curves, even at high speed.

THIS WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW, NOT USED. Speakers completely went out 3-4 times and seat heaters started working only intermittently. 4 months after that, I GOT IN THE CAR ONE DAY, IT WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. No warning lights, no engine issues or weird noises/movements, nothing...only the speaker/seat heater issues months before. Had to tow to dealership, miss work, and get myself a rental car to only partly be reimbursed later by Nissan. Repair shop said it was a defective battery and replaced it. Speakers/heaters worked fine after this!! Fast forward 2 months, speakers go out again and heaters act up. I take back to dealership, they insist nothing is wrong with speakers or seat heaters, so nothing fixed! I'm sure I'll be stranded again in the near future... UPDATE: Nissan never fixed anything on that car-I had to trade it back in and get another one (more $ out of my pocket). I've had the new 2024 Altima for about 1 1/2 yrs-electrical issues, AC cuts in and out, etc...I WILL NOT GO WITH NISSAN AGAIN.

I have a 2022 Nissan Altima Platinum. Only 2 months in I find out there is a hole in the gas tank. I never got really good gas milage on it, but I just figured it was because of how I drive. There is a manufacture issue with the gas tank. And to quote the service manager at Nissan of Greer in SC Shane Dover "this happens all the time it's just plastic".

Bad transmission, do not buy

PAS7998 , 03/21/2023

I'm currently leasing a 2022 Altima SR AWD with midnight package. The only reason I even gave this vehicle 3 stars is because of everything except the transmission. The transmission blew yesterday and I don't even drive the car hard. It is completely unacceptable for a new car to have a serious issue like this. I've owned two different Altimas in the past (1998, 2006) which really didn't have problems compared to the current one. I honestly believe the car would be fine if Nissan wouldn't have put a CVT in it. Apparently there are other Altima owners out there that have had the same transmission issue I've had. The rest of the car is fine so far. I hate writing bad reviews, but I feel like I need to let other potential buyers know that it's a risk buying this vehicle. Thank goodness it's under warranty. Overall, I don't recommend getting this car.

I purchased a NEW 2022 Altima SR and right away as soon as i arrived home there was a burn plastic smell coming from under the hood, loud noises when breaking and turning steering wheel side to side. Up to now the vehicle has been in the dealership for a month now. If your looking to buy a new vehicle stay away from NISSAN. I learned this the hard way.

My Nissan is a nice car. The interior is pretty basic yet it has everything I expect/need any car to have. (eg. rear reverse camera, Bluetooth, blind spot signals, trunk space, back seat space, smooth ride, and reliability, etc.). Pros: -The drive is so smooth and comfortable -The interior isn’t so bad. It’s actually pretty sleek and nice and has all the technology one can expect within a vehicle. -steering is smooth also. -great alignment -Great on gas -the optical range of the rear camera is up to speed of what is to be expected. -compact yet has a nice trunk size and plenty of room for passengers. -the standard safety and technology package is also up to speed on what is to be expected on a modern vehicle. -good reputation for lasting and being reliable. -smooth breaking -price is pretty average compared to most vehicles of its class; so, the engine, technology, features and design is of good quality. Cons: - power and acceleration is a bit slower compared to most standard 4 cylinder vehicles. Over all, it’s a nice car and has a reputation to last.

I had this 2021 Nissan Altima while I was on a business conference in palm beach county. I was expecting a maxima but was pleasantly downsized due to customer demand. :/ After getting the Altima I realized it lacked severely in many categories. For one , it had no automatic climate control ! Hello ! it’s Florida and it’s HOT it’s 2023 I would think all 2021 cars came with automatic climate control seeing as my daily is a 2010 a4 with automatic climate control being a standard option. Nonetheless I trudged foward and noticed right away that this is a seriously underpowered car. After looking up how to disable the traction control (since it’s not a button anymore on altimas ) and a quick pull determined my suspicions were correct. No matter what way I drove this car it was never going to be quick. After giving up and driving the car the way it’s supposed to be driven I was presently surprised to see that it was a great commuter. Sure it’s no turbocharged German pocket rocket but once that cvt gets up in the high Rev range it keeps pulling and eventually you’re up to speed with the rest of civilization. One thing I did absolutely love about the Altima was it’s fuel efficiency! I didn’t have to put anywhere near the amount of gas my audi takes on a daily venture in this Altima. I filled it once and was still good and full half way through the week without being light on the pedal. The suspension was bouncy but no complaints in that department. One thing nissan does best is make the best stereo, the Apple CarPlay made listening to music so easy with it having wireless CarPlay, although it did stop working for me halfway through the trip and had to resort to plugging it in with a cord. The automatic braking feature is such a thing to brag about ! I didn’t even realize the car had it until it stoped for me when reversing into my hotels parking spot! I’m so used to eyeballing it every-time I park so having that reminder not to get too close was really awesome and kind of scary at first but totally worth getting used to. Not a bad car I just wish Nissan got rid of that god awful cvt I know it would be a real character with an actual transmission with drive modes.
