Used 2008 Nissan Altima Consumer Reviews
Poor Brakes
I purchased my 2008 Altima in March 08 and I have already had to have my rear brakes replaced and rotors filed down. Mind you I have only 10k miles on my car. I really like my car a lot however I don't know if I am too thrilled that I am having brake problems already.
Quite good
Have had the car for 6 months now. A good family workhorse, with a style.

Beautiful but engine blown after 68miles
My silver 3.5SE coupe was a sight to be seen. The interior styling is sleek and modern. The Bose stereo sounds crisp and clear, and is paired to a crisp NAV display. The car drove smooth yet powerful and handled very well. Unfortunately after 20 hours of ownership and 68 miles driven, the engine "blew" (Nissan service center's words). Nissan refuses to replace the car, their final decision is to only replace the engine.
So nice but, an important detail
The car has performed very well since I bought it brand new in 2008, except for the brakes which I've reported in all my service visits, 4 in total from north Texas dealers until the last one in north California. Brakes do have a sound like scraping metal but dealers haven't been able to fix it.
Would buy again
Have put 5,000 miles on my Altima, no problems to date. Love the keyless ignition, comfortable, excellent performance for a 4 cylinder, mileage on highway has been in the 30 to 32 mpg range and looks great inside and out. Only complaint small trunk opening.
