1993 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4
I have not had any bad experiences my 3000GT yet. It performs well, and IS an eye catcher. I have always wanted a VR4. I've heard some of the stories about some owners having some major problems with their cars, but 90 percent of these owners are people who chose to modify their cars, and anywhere from 20 to 80 percent of the engine components are no longer stock engine parts. There's nothing wrong with doing mods, but remember, if you are going to comment on a vehicle's reliability, it should be one that is stock.
I love & hate my VR4
What I love: The control and performance in all types of weather, especially bad weather. It is difficult to break the tires loose in pouring rain and near impossible in dry conditions. With good tires, even snow and ice do not take away confidence. Sensible upgrades and strict maintenance have kept my VR4 reliable and safe. It's always been fun for me to outrun, outcorner or outbrake other cars with over confident owners. For over thirteen years I haven't been able to find a more capable car that sells for less than $100K. What I hate: Self-serving Mitsubishi warranty reps and irresponsible company policies. The fact that nobody makes a comparable car that sells for under $100K.

3000gt vr4
The best part about this car is that few cars under $100,000 can keep up to it in a straight line or in the corners. It has been reliable only after I fixed it myself.
Waited a Long Time
I've waited along time to buy another sports type car. I've looked through auto trader type magazines for months looking for that "best bang for your buck" car. I've finaly found it, a one owner 163,000 mile 3000GT 5 speed. For only $3,600 I get to drive a car with Ferrari type styling, Honda reliabilty, Toyota gas mileage, and American seat of the pants fun. Oh I forgot the radio stinks.
The only import I will own
I have had nothing but fun with this vehicle the exotic feel with the domestic pricing (until it comes to parts and labor for those who arent mechanically inclined.)and not to mention the looks you get from people and comments that makes you a proud 3000gt owner. Very potent 3liter DOHC V6 and 5 speed tranny
I would do it again
I have owned this car for 10 years, cleaned and polished it regularly, maintained it religiously and enjoyed it thoroughly. This car is eye-candy and it still turns heads. Mechanically it is still reliable, but I had to replace the transmission and clutch (at 95K miles). I am keeping the car because I cannot find one that I like any better.
a keeper
parts for this car are very expensive but the car has been good to me as it needs nothing and i get compliments on it almost daily, i wouldn't trade it for anything
You will never go back to any other car.
After owning my Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 (a 1991, a 1994, and now a 1993), it seems like all other sports cars under $100,000 aren't up to the task of dealing with a +10 year old overweight luxury sports car. If you are lucky enough to come across a smartly modified 3/S Twin Turbo prepare to get humbled. The exterior is sharp and aggresive, the interior is open with exotic curves, and the gearing in the 1st generations are very long to accommodate the small fast spooling stock twin turbos that create the wide powerband. these cars reliability is only as good as the previous owner, a true sports car deserves true maintenance.
3000 GT is a great car!!
I looked around for a long time for that perfect car! I found one in a used 3000GT!! I had considered a NEW Trans Am RAMAIR, but instead saved some money, and in all respects I feel got a better car. The car handles well, picks up great, gets fabulous mileage in cruise control and just flat looks sharp!
3000GT VR4
It is a very fun and responsive car. I have only had mine for a couple of months and am enjoying it very much. I am impressed with the fuel economy of this car. It is considerably better than the other sports cars I have owned.
feels like brand new
I bought mine slightly used (12000)mi.. I took it through the paces as I would any sports car. I reached 160 mph with 4 inches of pedal left. the aerodynamics made it feel as if I was doing 80.
100% Recommended
The control, reliability, and overall interior and exterior perfectness of the car make it a keeper. Well worth putting a new engine in when the time comes -it's at 173K now and still starting and running perfectly. It will be a while before the time comes to replace the engine. I drive mine in town only from September to June, and summer months are spent driving up and down the west coast of USA, without incident. Just change the oil and it's ready to go, even at the 9 years old it is. No leaks anywhere, no lose parts making any noises, no electrical issues, just perfect as day one.
93 Mitsubishi GT SL
This is an excellent vehicle. I have had zero problems with this car for 100,000 miles except for the electric radio antenna and the tape player. Recently I started commuting 100 miles a day and my clutch slave cylinder went out about 105,000. At 110,000 my transmission has gone out. It started with it popping out of 5th gear when the gas pedal was moved, so look for that sign. But even with that, I have NO COMPLAINTS about this car, it is very peppy, sporty and reliable. I plan to replace the tranny and keep the car for another 100,000, it still looks good! A++++++++++++
best car on earth :)
my first and ONLY car!! it's the sexiest car out there and i would NEVER trade it for anything in the world. i love absolutely everything about it. i'm a bad grl in a badass car :)
eye catcher
Overall this car is great fun to drive. rebuilt tranny at 102k no other problems love the car just wish I got a VR4 or aleast got the base with a manual transmission. Car feels pretty slow from a stop but on highway feels quick I think the VR4 would of fill my need for speed. Highway driving is great at 100mph you feel like your at 20. Car is very nice looks new and turns lots of heads. People always tell me how much they like it. Very reliable! Back seats are useless they are there for decoration in my opinion but hey its a sports car! Car also performance great on curvy roads.
The best car I've ever owned
I bought this car back in may of 2003 with only 9,500 miles on it. Although I've only owned it for a few months I can tell this is a very well built car. True, it's heavy, but it's feels like it's built like a tank and could probably take the damage like one, too. Handling is perfect. Pickup is great, especially since I added a K&N Fuel Injection Perfermance Kit to it. Highly recommended. Really increases HP w/o sacrificing MPG.
3000GT
The 3000gt is a great buy. If you have the money, go for it.
135000 miles and still STRONG!!!!!!!!!!!
This is my 3rd car I owned and by far the best...my other cars would break down like once a month i drive this 40000+ miles a year and only broke twice and thats just matience stuff. 0verall 10++++
My experience so far
This is great car and very fun to drive. The one problem, but a very big one is parts for this car. Parts and repairs are very expensive especially the AWD tranny. I need to replace my clutch, 1000$ !!!. Now my syncos are worn and i am having a hard time finding someone to fix it for any kind of reasonable price. Other then then, it is a bueatifully engineered car, and is very fast. There is nothing like have two turbos at your control, very few people have had that experience. Even with the problems, i am still in love with this car.
fun fun fun
the gt as we all know is an amazing sports car. it compares to the supra, rx-7, and 300zx. its quality lacks though. i had mine for about a year and a half and everything went wrong. maybe it was abused in the past, and then i abused it a bit too much too. timing belt blew along with its pulley and its pulley sensor (??). i pushed it to its limits and it handled great. i never felt more control and secure in any car. the acceleration wasnt great but still good enough to topple many other cars.
FUN! If you have the money.
The 3000GT is by far one of the best cars for cruising around town. I use mine as a daily driver and it gets to many looks to count. The car is quick, sporty, offers plenty of features, and the interior hugs you perfectly. The only problem is if there are repairs that need to be done, it will cost you. Parts are expensive and hard to come by.
Great Vehicle
My 1993 Mitsubishi 3000GT has been maintenance free. It has only needed oil / filter changes, a new timimg belt, and new tires. It has a very aerodynamic design and gets 29 mpg - highway, driving reasonably. It looks great, sounds nice, and never needs any repairs.
Good car for the most part!!
Well I do have to say that my 3000 is fun to drive and comfortable to ride! The stock horsepower could have been more considering how heavy it is. My 3000 does all right in the 1/4 mile, it ran 15.6 with a cold air and magnaflow exhaust with isn't great but not bad!! Other then the cost of parts and upkeep on the 3000, I'd say its one of the funnest and best cars I've owned.
3000GT is a Ferrari Fighter!
I love this car! I bought it new in 1993 and have had no major problems with it (knock on wood). I still get compliments on it 10 years later. No one can ever believe this is a 10 year old car. The look of this car is amazing. The inside is made like the cockpit of an airplane for the driver, with everything at your fingertips. The styling of the car on the outside and the sound of the engine when you start it up are fantastic!!
My best car ever owned
This car is fast but some of its features need updating. My vr4 is pushing out 436 hp at wheels.
Sports Car? Not reallly....
The 1993 Mitsubishi 3000GT is more of a boulevard car than a sports car. The Nissan 300ZX, and Toyota Supra also had a 3.0 6 cyl engine, but the 3000GT was a heavier and it was the only one with front wheel drive. It didn't handle as well as the '90 300ZX that I had. It rivaled the other two in looks, it was a very beautiful car. The engine died with only 68,000 miles on it, due to an internal engine oil leak. This happened to my 1993 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX as well but at 125,000 miles. Maintenance on the 3000GT was very expensive and I did not want to shell out $3,200 for a replacement engine, fearing what else would go wrong so I sold the car as-is.
Grey 1993 3000GT SL
I bought it with 29,000 miles and it now has 117,000 miles. the only problem I have had is initially with the transmission which the warranty covered
Torrie
Good car fun to drive but expensive to keep on the road
