Living large in a MINI
You no longer need to be rich to drive an exotic foreign car. Suspension and handling are sharp, heavy and precise. No body roll dive or squat. The engine is potent and happy. The gears are well spaced; shifter is pretty good. The clutch is soft. The interior is spacious for two. The looks really are to die for! Prepare to spend a lot of time talking to passer-bys, and people at the pump. A guy in an M3 challenged me to a race, but I politely declined. This car isn't perfect-this is to be expected with a new model- maybe its just the ghost of Lucas returning from the grave.
Definitely a Toy!
I'd rather drive my Mini when I'm alone or I have to shift to a lower gear when I have more weight in the car. Otherwise, no problem with the pep. Very stable on the highway, even when passing large trucks. After 6000 miles, I'm getting 30.5 mpg--mostly city driving with only about 80 miles of highway driving per tank. Biggest problem is that it sits so low to the ground, it's hard to find automatic car washes with rails that are low enough. My Mini was meant to be driven CLEAN, especially since I opted for the white wheels. Living in the cold north makes this difficult!

I loooooooooove it!
I've had my MCS for almost a year, and now I could never be without one. It's not perfect, BUT I DON'T CARE!
Fun to Drive - Not to Own
I loved the look and feel of the CooperS and was pleased with overall performance and handling. Some minor issues with rattles, steering column issues and basic warranty work have taken an inordinate amount of service time. Dealership seems to treat Mini owners as second class citizens - I had to throw a fit to get a loaner car when it was warranty work! Overall service has been poor. Mini has been in shop over 6 weeks in one year. Also look out for tire wear and expense of replacement.
DRIVING THE MINI
I WAS JUST GOING TO LOOK BUT AFTER DRIVING A DEMO, HAD TO HAVE ONE. THE CAR IS FUN TO DRIVE, MY WIFE LOVES IT. I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND LONG TRIPS IN IT.
