In this price range you're faced with a dreary econo-box, stripped out sedan or something else uninspired. My main goal when purchasing a brand new car was something with space, great gas mileage and FUN to drive. The Countryman checks every box and then some! Don't get me wrong... There are other cars in this segment that are great value, but the Countryman is the only one you'll take a second look at when you're walking away from it in a parking lot. Why not have your cake and eat it too?!

We bought the 2012 Countryman S with an automatic transmission. This car is really fun to drive - the most fun I've had driving since my 1965 MGB. I love the steering - it's tight and very responsive. Acceleration is fantastic, and the sport mode is awesome. The design of this car is really cool, and it's great having a car that doesn't look like the "cookie cutter" cars out there - they all look pretty much the same. We've only had it for about two months, and it's amazing how many people have asked about the car when we pull into a parking lot. Everyone thinks it's really a neat car. I'm 6'2", and there's plenty of head room and leg room.

DO NOT BUY A MINI!!!!!

I own a Mini Cooper S. The drive is so much fun, but! This vehicle is so much money to maintain. I was having issues with the steering wheel shaking. So I took it to the dealership in Pittsburgh. There is only one dealership to go to Mini of Pittsburgh. I requested a quote to fix the problem. They quoted $4500 to fix the issue. In their service paperwork, it said "Could be causing issue." They did not even know! They were just throwing parts at the problem. The staff was rude and not helpful. I'm so happy I declined service and located a local guy that fixed it for $900. I have had troubles finding a mechanic that will work on this brand, a lot of headaches. This brand is very expensive to fix and maintain. DO NOT BUY A MINI!

I was excited when I purchased my used 2013 Mini Countryman. But soon came to regret the purchase. So many problems. Hardly a week goes by before I get another frustrating light, beep and icon lighting up to let me know of another problem. First numerous oil leaks from hoses, etc. Once had car in for repair for an oil leak, and just starting the car top drive away, there was another oil leak from a gasket. I had problems with the turbo. Too many to remember. Next the cart started to smoke so bad it enveloped everything in smoke. Had to replace 1st turbo an bought another, had it installed but still had smoke problems, Was told there may be residual oil in some oil the hoses or catalytic converter. Got all flushed out, still smoke. took car back and was told it was a bad turbo. Got it replaced, still a smoking problem. Went to another mechanic and was told the turbo needed to have parts replaced. Did it, same smoke problem. Mechanic sent car to turbo "expert" who replaced turbo again. Still same. Then engine light came on and said car operating a reduced capacity. Still smoke. Got that fixed with more work to turbo. All together the "turbo problem" required five(5) turbo fixes. Still smoke. Then the other day got new message/icon/peep to let me know the battery is operating on reduce capacity. All together I have spent more money on car then it's worth and can't sell because, 1) too much invested in repairs to ever get money back, and 2) the car still smokes, the check engine light is on because of Oxygen sensor problem. No one would ever buy this car. Only a sucker like myself! I'm sure there is more to this saga but I'm old and I have, for my sanity, forgotten some of the "lessor" problems.

THOSE CARS ARE GARBAGE I would give them "0" stars if I could..... Very long story but I will keep this brief . Just picked up my 7 month old car which has been shopped on 4 different occasions 31 days and a full car payment, not to include the days spent sitting in they lot before getting diagnosed..... Twice for tires, run flats suck btw, once for water/ coolant pump failure (replaced with refurbished pump) lastly for new engine........yes I said it new engine.....11,500 miles The service manager tried to blame me initially, stated that mini wouldn't cover a new engine repair, buuuuutttttt then when they found that the oil had coolant in it, they changed their tune. CORPORATE USELESS👎
