Less than 800 miles. In service for WEEKS
The car is beautiful. However, missing several features other cars have. Less than 800 miles and it’s been in the service department more than in my garage. Had a bolt missing/ broken, terrible noise of things flapping/rattling on the passenger side. Picked up car on Wednesday, had it towed on Friday….”Reversing Not Possible. Service Required”. Over a week now waiting to get it back…..still in a loaner.

What is going on?
I just purchased this vehicle, brand new from Manchester Mercedes dealership, this vehicle was shipping in and had 11 miles on it when I got it. 6 months later I'm at 10,300 mile and I brought in the vehicle for the schedule maintenance (oil change, fluid top off) the tires we're brand new as well after the inspection i was told that the rear tires have worn down to critical levels (RR 5/32, RL4/32). I was told by the Technician that these vehicles are harder in wear on the rear tires. The tires in question are Bridgestone Alenza Sport A/S . I don't know what to do the front tires are at 7/32 but I don't understand how this happened and I would like to hear from people who may have similar issues.

Awesome Ride
The vehicle is amazing. Almost everything is great, so I will only mention a few points. I have a GLC and a GLE. The engine noise in the GLE is much louder, even though they have identical engines. As such, if you can, I would recommend opting for the 6 cylinder over the 4 cylinder, for a quieter ride. Also the factory missed a part (a door sill) during assembly, which was a little concerning. I also think Mercedes makes things more complicated than they have to be. Specifically, they make the cars technology so you can do the same thing from 3 different sources. This might seem cool, but it makes for too many options. Other than that, I would highly recommend.

Pretty but definitely not sporty
The GLE 350 has a luxury interior and some cool tech, but the driving experience overall leaves me wanting more. Seats are comfy and the ventilated seats are a perk, but at high speeds (75-80mph) the whistle from the side mirrors is annoying. The windshield wiper shuddering will drive you crazy if you’re on a rainy road trip. It’s a well know. Issue for this car an MB has done nothing to address it. Took to the dealership 3 times where they say they have a solution to fix, but nothing has helped. They replaced the housing in the side mirrors as well for the whistle but no change. For a car at this price point, windshield wipers and wind noise shouldn’t be an issue. I love the MBUX and quality of the tech, ride overall at lower speeds is nice. It’s a big car and is definitely more cush than sporty. The 4 cylinder 350 struggles to accelerate and is underpowered. MB should make the 6 cylinder standard like most luxury SUVs, especially given the gas mileage is worse than the 450. Love the looks on the outside with the AMG package and big wheels- looks aggressive. I’ve had and X5 and Range Rover Sport in the past to compare- all very different. The GLE tops them from the luxury side, RR is definitely more of a truck, X5 wins for overall driving and modern look, especially with the engine. Looking now to replace the GLE after 18 months and the X5 is top contender.

Most Luxurious in Class
I took delivery in December and immediately fell in-love. I upgraded from a 2016 Volkswagen Touareg and everything about this car is worth the $15k increase in MSRP (mine came in at $71k.) I'm averaging 24.8 MPG with mixed/highway driving over 3,600mi. On a recent road-trip I averaged 30MPG by going the speed limit (Sacramento to Los Angeles.) I love that I can drive 500mi on a tank of gas. I am super disappointed that MBUX doesn't include wireless CarPlay (something available on all 2020+ VW models.) I had issues with the MBUX taking 2+ minutes to load randomly, but that hasn't happened since the recent software update. The panoramic sunroof opens way larger than the X5, but I wish it had the ambient sunroof lighting like the X5. I have the GLE 350 4matic and while the engine doesn't sound pleasant, the performance is on-par and worth it for better efficiency. I do feel like 4matic is more front wheel drive biased compared the competition (I've experienced loss of traction while accelerating hard.) I noticed reviews saying that your pant legs would get dirty when you get in the car; I have this issue too. I feel exceptionally safe in this SUV and love the driver's assistance package. I do wish there was a quicker way to disable the active lane departure warning (it's quite aggressive and disturbs the otherwise exceptional ride.) The active driving assistance (and active lane change assist) make highway driving so easy. The traffic jam assist gets too close to cars for my comfort, but otherwise works as expected. The 360 camera isn't as good as Audi/BMW but it's better than any mainstream brand and I find it very helpful. I tried the automated parallel parking feature twice and it parks as well (or as poorly) as the vehicles you park in-between. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase and intend to keep it until at least the warranty runs out (which is 10k short bumper-to-bumper and 50k miles short for powertrain compared to my Touareg.) Update: 9 months, 7,700mi in and I still love my GLE but wish I purchased the X5. My average MPG is 25, mostly highway and combined. A software update fixed my main issue with the MBUX system. Unfortunately, the vehicle has developed a rattle in the steering wheel and in the rear of the vehicle. Then, the steering/suspension occasionally makes a popping sound. The sunroof also makes a horrible popping sound when opening/closing after being parked outside. Also, the driver's seat ventilation fan vibrates excessively randomly. I plan to have this addressed at its first service interval; I am really disappointed with all of these quality control issues, though.

Great Car But!
Purchased my first Mercedes, GLE 450 2022. It was a beautiful, luxurious and comfortable SUV but the windshield wipers were a deal breaker. The judder, skip, and chatter so loudly. It was embarrassing to have my guests in my new SUV while the wipers were running. I got rid of this SUV although I took it in twice to have it fixed. The Maitland Mercedes repair service was at best below par. He blamed it on the Florida Summer heat and replaced the wipers' blades. That didn't work. Asked me to wait for the part to replace the entire wiper's mechanism. I waited for two months, but no words from the service department. Finally, I had to call him and he asked me to come in again. Again all they did was just clean the blades, and he blamed and warned me for the next time they will charge me for fixes if I use any cleaners on my windshield. Mind you, I have owned 8 BMWs and I have never had issues with the BMW cars' wipers. If the Mercedes wiper blades were working fine, I would have to desperately try to fix it myself. After just owning this brand new SUV for over two months, I could wait to get rid of it and I did. I sold it back to the dealer! I will never touch another Mercedes again. My many years with BMW were great and will continue to drive a better brand, BMW.

Awesome vehicle
Was hesitant regarding purchasing the GLE 350 because of it’s 4 banger engine. Decided to go with it after an extensive test drive. This engine is not quick from a dead stop, however in more than 95% of all real world driving situations it will surpass your expectations. The interior is by far best in class, making the BMW X5 , and the Lexus RX seem a generation behind. Ride quality is exceptionally comfortable, and initial quality was excellent. I’ve only had the GLE for a month and a half. As with all German luxury brands, resale value is poor, however this doesn’t seem to matter as much on a lease. I just feel good when driving my GLE, and isn’t that what its really all about. UPDATE: This is an update after now owning the GLE for nearly 20 months. The GLE remains a vehicle that I would definitely recommend. It has provided me with reliable service and a surprisingly high fun factor. No issues to report except there is a whistling sound at highway speeds coming from the driver’s side mirror. Others have reported the same issue. Fuel filler door was not perfectly flush with the exterior, this seems to have perhaps remedied itself or I just don’t notice it as much. I keep transmission in ECONOMY mode, it provides for smoother downshifting. If given the choice at this moment, I would definitely buy this vehicle again.

2022 GLE Lemon
Purchased 2022 new from dealership in November 20121. Car has been in the shop 3 weeks due to a broken driver side wheels hub and steering arm due to factory not lubing parts during assembly. Very disappointed!!! Dealership also taking their time to fix and slow on communication that’s accurate. Dick Dyer Mercedes, Columbia SC

2021 GLE 450 Overview
The SUV has plenty of power, beauty but the down shifting of the 9 speed is not smooth. Our 2021 BMW x5 8 speed transmission is very smooth. The GLE has a softer ride than our BMW. I have only 900 miles on my new 2021 GLE and dash has squeaks and minor vibrations over an uneven road surface. The dealer had no luck in correcting them. I am looking for another opinion/solution . The heads up display is large but the reflection from the unit at peak sun periods provides bright spots/small light streaks on the windshield from the CRT corners. If you have the Acoustic Comfort Package, the windshield Infrared reflecting Film creates a dash board reflection in the windshield even when the dash color is black. I would not recommend the Acoustic Package due to the UV film reflection of the dash board. The service manager at my dealership was surprised to see that affect as well. The light streaks appear to be coming from the dust cover for the heads up display unit onto the windshield. No solution other than removing the dust cover in my opinion. The BMW heads up display on my wife's 2021 X3 appears to have a much cleaner install and the display is a less busy graphic/s display. You can not reduce the size of the graphics on the GLE. No light streaks on the BMW version of the heads up display. The factory installed Dash Cam works great, however you must enable it every time you start the car first then open the Mercedes Apps in the MBUX system. I was also surprised the GLE 450 now comes with Cooper Tires (Discoverer) The jury is still out on their performance, comfort, tread wear. As I continue to drive this SUV I found another item that is frustrating, the windshield wipers. There are very noisy during operation and change direction very hard. The jury maybe coming in with a verdict very soon. Currently the Cooper Tires are wearing fast and some rubber is peeling off. The tires have 13000 miles on them. These tires are no conducive for a luxury SUV. The vibration at the dash cover still exist depending on road conditions. In lieu of all of this the GLE 450 is the best SUV I have driven.

First and last Mercedes
Paid 90K for a top of the line GLE 580, performance and comfort the car was amazing, super fast and pretty fun to drive. Electronically it’s a nightmare, the car would randomly not start, in the year I owned it it was at the dealership 4 times for this issue with no resolution, sometimes taking over a week of just sitting at the dealership. Other fun features included the speedometer screen going completely blank repeatedly, the windshield wipers going on randomly, the audio not working at all, the car not shutting off, engine light (dealer claims no codes came up) My 11 year old Cadillac with 130K miles was more reliable then this hunk of junk. Bought new, owned it for a year, good riddance.

Wiper blade shudder the worst but there’s more
2022 GLE350 has been to service 4 times with no resolve for wiper shudder and noise. Mercedes service has replaced blades 3 times. Only Bosch blades are available. They’ve detailed windshield with every cleaning compound possible including Bon Ami. We’ve tried silicone as well as WD40, RainX on blades without improvement. Nothing works to correct skipping and shuddering of the blades. Mercedes claims they’ve done all they can. Corporate is aware of this apparently systemic issue. I believe it is an alignment problem but again Mercedes says it’s not mechanical. In a rainstorm the blades make incredible noise. They skip shudder increase in speed and slow with a mind of their own. After owning it for just 90 days we are seriously considering trading the car. Very disappointing. Few people buy a car in the rain. But I’d advise you test blades before purchasing a GLE. The technology is superior but tripling the access points with an overly sensitive touchpad make any movement to a cup holder or steering wheel a chance of changing all your settings. The steering wheel actually blocks the instrument panel. The button to disengage fuel saving shutdown is directly next to start button. Easy to engage start button when driving. The shift lever is moved to the column. Feels and looks like a turn signal. Easy to confuse. And the car has more warning sounds than an airline in a spin. As former Naval Aviator I found mastering and using the technology challenging and distracting. But car looks good and drives well.

Hows your Mercedes Brakes doing?
GLE 350 2022, I upgraded to the MB larger SUV, nice size rear spaces, car sits high, MB Tech seating( I recommend a cloth seat cover. On my previous MB GLC 300, 2020, the drivers seat wore out after 1 year...yes wore out. The dealer said the seats were stained by wearing Jeans, I hardly wear jeans and had a towel on the seat at all times. The detail-er told me he cant do anything the finish is wore off..I think now MB with the MB Tex is paint sprayed on. MB is very petty with the Mercedes Me, you only get one year of free services, lock/unlock doors, remote start etc...My last two MB were 2 or 3 years. The real issue I had is the front brakes had to be replaced at 13,000, MB offered the explanation that brake assist cause one pad to wear out prematurely? Cost over $700
Stalled at 5,960 miles!!!
We bought the SUV in May and it stalled in the middle of the road at 5,960 miles. Mercedes Me Connect took a while to connect me to a live person after several tries. The tow truck finally arrived after 3 hours. The RED message on my dashboard screen said stop the vehicle for there was danger of overheating; that something was broken with the 48 volt hybrid system. I lost power very shortly then. Jeff, a service advisor from MB of El Paso said that the soonest they can look into it would probably be in 2 weeks. It will be 1 week tomorrow and I have not heard from the El Paso dealership. Vehicle loaners from the dealership were unavailable till May next year. Beware, Mercedes Benz is definitely NOT "nothing but the best".

Pure luxury that compares to no other
I cross-shopped Porsche, BMW, Audi & Volvo when I was shopping and NOTHING came close to the build quality, beauty and features the GLE offers. I opted for the 350 and find it's plenty of power. Everyone recommends the 450 because it's more power, but when is enough, enough? I've heard 80% of buyers opt for the 350 so don't feel bad just because a bunch of car reviewers always want the top spec. I came to Mercedes from Tesla. This is the 3rd Mercedes I've owned and came back for build quality and an infotainment/tech system that puts everyone else to shame. No my Mercedes doesn't fart, Tesla, but it gives me a great, warm seat massage. I have no regrets and constantly try to find excuses to go drive somewhere. It's a beautiful thing.

Wow!
Bought 2021 GLE for my wife. We've owned a couple of MB's and many Lexus models. We test drove the Q7, Genesis GV80 and the Lexus RX. Wife had been driving an Audi Q5 and loved it. But when she got behind the wheel of the GLE, it was all over. Ride, fit & finish, interface, materials, etc just totally outclassed the competition. Only car I've ever bought where we paid full-price --cheerfully. Drive this one and you'll be convinced. After 12,000 miles happy to report no problems or defects. Gas mileage is a bit lower than we'd hoped for but other than that remain very pleased.

Amazing SUV - Great Tech, Smooth Quiet Ride
Picked up my 2021 GLE350 4Matic two weeks ago and it has been amazing so far. The MBUX tech in the vehicle is absolutely amazing and easy to use. The ride is surprisingly smooth with decent power for a twin turbo 4-cylinder. The cabin is virtually silent on back roads and the highway. The panoramic sunroof option is a must as well as the 21" 10-Spoke AMG Wheel, Night Package and the Surround View Camera. No other MSRP compares to build quality and tech options. Take a GLE for a test drive, you will not regret it.

It's a Benz...
This car rides nicely. Comfortable, spacious and performs well. Minor problems, one of the key fob is already dead. Completely broke and it broke less than a year in to the vehicle. I didn't even use the broken key fob prior to breaking. It just hung as a backup. Key fobs on BMWs and Benz are expensive. Not sure how unused key fob can break hanging on a wall. I've even replaced the battery, twice. Most of the Benz service department are borderline rude or rude. If you want to experience "we don't need your business, but you need us" customer service, I would recommend getting a Benz.
Beautiful inside and outside
I had a 2020 gle 350. Which I loved. It was totaled on Christmas morning 2020 in the bombing in downtown Nashville. I decided to upgrade to the 2021 gle 450. I am so happy I upgraded to the gle 450 AMG package. It is so worth the extra price. Comfort and driving is exceptional.

Check your brake pads
My 5th Mercedes. Upgraded from GLC 300 suv. More room. The transmission doesn’t have sport plus. Just sport. I don’t use it need the Park Tronic self park. The one major flaw is the brakes. One pad on the front brakes wore out prematurely only 13,000 miles the passenger front disc brake pad sensor tripped putting an annoying message on your dashboard to replace pads. I went to Mercedes service Shirley thinking it’s a manufacture defect I never had a car to replace brakes at 13,000 miles and I don’t ride the break it’s cost $700. I had to put up a big stink and they gave me something back, but Mercedes didn’t cover it, or omit fault under the warranty, if you get your front brake pads fixed prematurely, make sure you tell them you want your old brake pads the other three brake pads in the front 21 the driver side and one left on the passenger side well had about 20,000 miles left of padding to go. I asked Mercedes to explain what happened. They said it was the brake assist I mean how often do you visit to break an assist. I’m thinking they’re just not building the car. The way it used to be even though it comes it came from Germany. This shouldn’t happen and the quality isn’t there. The other problem I had with the car is the collision system became disabled and I will be getting an alert and a beep it took the service center one week to tell me that the problem was the seatbelt they replaced the seatbelt and they said that that fixed it I’m thinking that that had something to do with the the break prematurely wearing out but they denied that enjoy your car but make sure your fight for something you think isn’t right
Amazing vehicle
The engineers and designers at Mercedes out did themselves on this one. Coming out of an Porsche Cayenne, we had a high bar set for our next vehicle. We looked at just about everything in the category. Nothing we looked at or drove came close to the GLE. This vehicle has a completely un-compromised level of refinement and tasteful luxury not found in the other vehicles in this class.

Certified pre-owned from Mercedes-Benz
My wife has a 2020 GLE450, which she leased in 2019 and decided to buy at the lease end in 2022. So, after my BMW X5 lease ended on 10/2023, I decided to get a GLE, too. However, I got the certified pre-owned GLE350 because I do mostly city driving, and I already know the power of the GLE450, which we rarely enjoy due to city driving. The GLE350 is smooth and drives flawlessly in the city. I have been driving this GLE350 for almost five months, and I can tell it has little to envy the GLE450 in the city. I highly recommend the GLE350 if you live in the town and do not have open roads to floor the pedal. If you want to buy one, I recommend you spend a little more and get a Mercedes-Benz certified pre-owned or a non-MB dealer one with a regularly serviced history per MB recommendations. Otherwise, you might experience the nightmare stories you read about when people buy used MBs that the person who leased it did not change the oil or used regular fuel that wreaks havoc on the highly tuned modern turbo engine.

Issues galore
I have a 2022 GLE 450. So far I've had the 48V battery issue (car literally flat out died on the highway), a sunroof issue (wouldn't close all the way - took 2 dealership visits), and numerous instances where the car incorrectly interprets a person or object in the way and abruptly stops itself. Something that also bugs me is how rough the car downshifts. It's very jerky and awkward. For $72k, I just expected more/better.

Windshield wipers are horrible
I have a 4 month old gle 450 decked out not AMG. I have gone to dealership twice already due to a wiprblades skipping all over my windshield. So far it has been improved by about 50 % over when I got it, however, on a luxury vehicle like mercedes, those things should be flawless. I have driven many different cars, and I never had experience like that. I hope they do something about it, or I'm getting Lexus as soon as the new model comes out. And I'm a Mercedes guy.

OMG!
Bought this new. Dumped it 2 wks before the 100% guarantee was up. 14 months after purchase, the 48 volt battery died. Watched as they towed my $73K SUV away. Can't be jump started. 3. months later, passenger seat split. Wife is 116 lbs. Replaced after a 6wk wait. before the seat cover came in, passenger window wouldn't go up. 4 months later on 7/23 call the dealer, driver seat split. Ordered. 4. on the later, drivers window wouldn't 't go up. on 3/27, they called to tell me seat was in. they replaced it, and drove directly to a different dealership and bought a different brand. When it ran, it was an amazing car. I do believe in lemons, but also know, MB has cut back on quality material to keep prices down.

63s AMG Power!
Great performance and that engine sound! Technology is excellent and may be intimidating at times. Seat comfort is wonderful and legroom ample. Visibility is good all round. The front grill of the AMG and lines are robust! Steering is precise enough for daily driving with a fair turning ratio. Audiophiles will love Burmester sound system! Two minor issues are the floating ride, even in Sports Plus, and unpredictable gear changes with spirited driving. However, this is a 2.5 tonne SUV and not a McLaren :-)

Annoying distractions
First month I had it, the entire MBUX infotainment system went dark and had to be replaced. From the beginning the driver door has had a wind whistle and the wipers stutter across the windshield. Lately the map refused to download, "please install compatible map chip," and the system warns that the camera is out, disabling the automatic braking, etc. Spent last week in the shop for B service, 3 recalls, plus these items. Service dept. said unable to replicate the camera problem, which is still occurring. I didn't even bother with the wind whistle and the map problem may have been solved with the day-long software download. Waiting for it to rain to see if the new wipers help. Should I return to dealer for the camera problem or just deal with it til end of lease this year. Oh yeah, this is the top of line GLE580 twin turbo V8, so the trim level is not an indication of any higher quality. Similarly equipped BMW X5, Porsche Cayenne, and Range Rover Sport are much more expensive. Thinking of trying the redesigned Jeep Grand Cherokee. Was considering the new Acura MDX S-type turbo, but per reviews, the AC is bad, plus the 3 MDX's I had seemed to attract rocks into the windshield.

LOVE it!
I owned a 2013 ML350 and took delivery of the GLE 450 in January. Best car I have ever owned. Luxurious, safe and great performance. I use sport mode most of the time for best steering and acceleration. Comfort mode too soft. Technology is great but has so many choices it takes time to customize it. The combination of cruise control and lane keeping assist is funky as it sometimes adapts speed downward unnecessarily on the highway. Lane keeping assist is also too aggressive. These are small observations. The car is great and highly recommend it over BMW X5.

LOVE THIS CAR
Over all, enjoying the heck out of it. I initially thought it would be underpowered, but have been very pleased with the performance. I had a BMW550 before this. The emerald green is forever amazing me with the different shades, and the LOOOOG display continues to amaze me. Only hickup is the darn service reminder - has given me several false notifications. They say that it is mileage and time, but their emails say sensor. Minor, but a constant bug. Just had my Service a, and hope that it works better now. Other concern question is the tire pressure. IMO, they set it high - after my service A, the rear are at 50psi and the front at 41 psi. Seems high, but only 5k, so not able to see if it is impacting the wear.

Overall, the MB is high quality on the outside, and the inside. However the Electronics are way too confusing for the average driver over 50 years in age. It's very easy to press the wrong buttons on the steering wheel and change the information you have been using to navigate.

2022 GLE 450 is excellent 👌
Had the GLE 350 which is like a lame duck compared to the 450 I just bought . The mild hybrid engine is absolutely cool and increases acceleration significantly compared to the 350, it also has better gas mileage. The GLE 450 is an absolutely quite car because of the electric motor!

This Is It
Jumped up in class as standard GLE was running $65K and found an AMG GLE 53 for not much more. I'm old, had an ML350 for almost 10 years and was disappointed the GLE dropped to a 4 cylinder. AMG = 429 hp and voila, match. Love my car.
Great car except
There is no question that the GLE is luxury car with plenty of power with the exceptionof the GLE 350 which is underpowered with a screeming engine, being an owner of a GLE and a X5 I cat tell you that the GLE info system is way behind the X5, starting with the mouse pad that GLE placed next to the cup holders, constantly touching the mouse pad by accidentally changing radio stations. It is also very confusing to use.

Luxury & Performance
We bought the bottom of the line 350 GLE (almost no options), and are incredibly impressed with car. The technology is impressive and intuitive for a non-techy like me. Performance is solid. In performance mode I think it is the equal of the V-6 powered BMW X5. The interior appointments are luxury defined. We looked at BMW, Lincoln and Mercedes and the Mercedes had the most luxurious look and feel. Rear seat leg room is excellent. With the panoramic roof, the back seat may be the best seat in the house! I love all of the safety features like lane keeping, collision avoidance and alarms. The backup camera is the best I saw with overview and the traditional rearview displayed side by side. Most important, my wife LOVES it. MB has created a dealership experience second to none with the cafe and free car washes. I think I'm going to love this car for a long time to come.

First & last Mercedes
Pros: ability to drive it fast & furious or as a comfortable cruiser depending on drive mode, spacious with lots of interior storage, beautiful inside and out Cons: electrical issues every few months=lots of time going to & from dealer, poor gas mileage but you assume that with an AMG, inflatable spare tire that is hit or miss when you have a flat Conclusion - not worth the premium price considering how much time it sits in the shop

Only for car snobs who have to drive a German car
Bought a 2021 GLE 580. The best thing about it was the engine -- extremely powerful turbo V8. Also the seating was comfortable with massager that also did the glutes, For some reason high-end audio was not available on the GLE ($90K car!). Now for the bad -- the windshield wipers make a horrible noise as they skipped over the glass and there was no way to fix. Some kind of glitch resulted in an error message that the camera was unavailable and the auto brake function was out, about 25% of the time while driving -- service just said "unable to replicate." Turned it in early on the lease and thank heaven the dealer gave me full market value so the car was basically free to own. Never buy a German car again.
